  1. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 weeks ago. Tomorrow she starts her treatment. She's been a wreck ever since the diagnosis. I mentioned a few pages back how a friend of the family managed to nab us world series tickets back in 2017 after Harvey. Same person just came through for my mom, she's going to the world series tonight! Win one for my mom!
  2. My brother always brings that up, too. Apparently, "we were six outs away."
  3. For my brother, it was beating the Dodgers that mattered more than the Yankees. For literally decades, my brother would randomly bring up the 1981 NLCS and bitch about game 7. I'd always have to tell him that the game happened before I was born, lol. He literally never got over it. So facing the dodgers in the world series was some epic catharsis for him.
  4. A franchise that had loyal players like Biggio, exciting hitters like Bagwell, and even NOLAN RYAN, and my favorite astro of all time is a 5'5" dude who couldn't make a minor league team until he begged for a spot. He's Houston's Rudy, only not a piece of shit.
  5. To wash the taste out: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/columnist/bob-nightengale/2019/10/20/astros-yankees-alcs-world-series-mlb/4042257002/ "I still remember when we lost a 100 games three years in a row," Altuve said. "It seems like we were in the very, very bottom. So the only hope I had was to keep working hard because everybody keeps telling me, 'Yeah, we're going to win a championship, we're going to be a really good team. I wanted to be a part of that.’ Altuve is a fucking inspiration. I liked Jeremy Lin when he was Knick because his story was pretty inspirational, and Jose Altuve is the same damn way. Even if I wasn't an astros fan, I'd love the dude.
  6. That tiny astro big dicked the yankees
  7. Same here. Always dreamed and hoped id see them win just 1. Thats why im so happy for the die hard fans of Astros. I know what this means to them, thier families. There are family members that i wish were here to celebrate and enjoy 2017 and tonight. what's so crazy is it's not like they won in a down year or something, that they won a world series then faded away, like a one hit wonder. They beat the Yankees TWICE, one of which was a monster yankees team, and they made it look almost effortless. The astros are openly calling themselves one of the greatest teams ever assembled, sports writers are calling them a budding dynasty. I remember The Lastros, the Disastros, the Asstros. I actually was upset when we left the NL because we wouldn't play the Dodgers and Cubs anymore. Who knew going to the AL and tearing down the team to the metal would be the best thing to ever happen to the franchise? And they've been doing it in Orange with the classic logo, too! That fucking rules so hard.
  8. It's seriously still weird for me to say that the Astros have been to multiple world series, period. It stuns me that they're the current kings of baseball. The fucking HOUSTON ASTROS. Honestly never thought I'd see the day.
  9. This is from the last game played at the dome, they gave it out to the first X-thousand fans in the gate. Me, my dad, and my brother went. We've been going to Astros games since before I was born. My brother, who is 14 years older than me, has a birthday that falls around the beginning of the season every year, so ever since he was a kid, my dad would take him to opening day for his birthday. When I was born, I started tagging along. Since we'd gone to the astrodome so much, we had to go to the last game played there. It was against the Dodgers. My parents lost everything in Hurricane Harvey in 2017, so a friend of my family happened to know Joe Torre who snagged us both ALCS and World Series tickets in 2017. Never in my life thought we'd get to see the astros beat both the Yankees and the Dodgers in person like that. That October was an enormous spirit lift after the september prior. Fuck me I love the astros.
  10. I had dug this out of the closet just yesterday:
  11. Remember when Hakeem Olajuwon was the uncontested top Houston sports icon? He has company now.
  12. Hot damn that home run is going down as one of the best moments in franchise history
  13. Getting there was a team effort. Winning the game was solo heroics. Tip the hat to both guys, Texas and the Stros won because we had dudes we could count on when it counted.
  14. Both Dicker and Altuve with walk offs in the same day. How badass.
  15. Heart and soul of the Astros right now. Hands down my favorite player in franchise history.
  16. imagine being so stupid as to gobble up this kind of propaganda like this. These people are conflating "chinese people" with "chinese state," precisely because the chinese state controls all messages going in or out of the country.
  17. He presumably doesn't have a problem with money at all. It sounds like you don't know what the fuck this entire situation is about, considering you think it's "hypocritical" for morey to operate under capitalistic mindset here. His "stand with hong kong" tweet is about upholding Hong Kong as an economic freedom zone, i.e. the "one country, two systems" pledge that China made regarding Hong Kong when they assumed sovereignty from Britain. There isn't a damn thing hypocritical about his tweet at all, he was very obviously making shitloads of cash in a capitalistic market and his tweet was to the effect of "I support Hong Kong's financial and economic freedom (which I, and the rockets, benefit from) against communist mainland china." But you think it's "woke" for some reason. Hint: none of this is about human rights violations. It's literally about economic freedom and sovereignty. Hence pointing out the irony of late stage capitalism here. Maybe read the news once and a while.
