  1. After having some initial success with recruiting, this stuff hit a wall and then it was sideways to downhill from there. This trend started before the NIL and surely before the SEC move. Once again we have assembled a team that's learning on the job instead of coming in here and hitting the ground running. Many of the posters here were too busy drinking the kool-aid to see the warning signs right in front of us. As a fan and alum, I try to be optimistic that they will figure it out sooner than later but then again we did the same with Tom Herman and he never figured it out. Texas can land a top 10 class even with the most incompetent coach like Chuck. We should be doing much better now with all the positive momentum around our athletic program. As the HC, you can't rely on the AD to solve everything for you. You are the leader of your program. You ask the AD what you need and we have an AD now who can go the extra mile to get it done for the coach if it means more wins.
  2. UT President, soon to be the head of the SEC Board, is trying to broker a deal to form a new collegiate athletics governing body.
  3. No good can come from waiting until 2025. This deal has to happen now or we are gonna have all kinds problems with the tagalong 8, Aggy, Texas legislators looking for their 2 minutes of publicity, etc. trying to nullify this deal, not to mention the poor sheep that will get the brunt of it for the next 4 years.
  4. So the Aggys can act solely in the best interest of their university but Texas has to carry everyone else in the state? In what universe does that make any sense?
  5. Have we asked the SEC to change its name to Longhorn Eastern Conference ("LEC") yet? Since we like to assert our power wherever we go, I thought changing the name to a more suitable one that shows who everyone's daddy is should be one of the first things on the agenda.
  6. We are recruiting like Kentucky and Dukes of the world, like how Texas football should be recruiting year in and year out, like Bama recruits in football. If Beard can field a competitive team, which he will this year, we are going to roll like a Mofo from here on out. Shaka was a middle of the pack recruiter, not a great one. Just landing one 5* every year without other key pieces in place doesn't make you a great recruiter. Exciting times ahead for Texas basketball!
  7. Haha, i just had a chance to come back to the site and see the reactions from my post last night. Now, it seems like a lot of you are coming around to seeing what i have said months ago. You take pleasure in picking on little things like "official" vs. "Unofficial" instead of seeing the problem right in front of you because you feel like you won an argument. There is no cure for homerism. We deserve all of what we have been getting for years. I have two degrees from Texas, been a long time donor and go to games whenever I can. I am ecstatic with what CDC has done with other programs but i wasn't happy with the Sark hire. He may work out but the odds are not that great. This board is full of dudes who like to live in a bubble. You like to make fun of other boards but i am convinced their collective intelligence is far superior to yours. If you're in a bubble with a herd, you are never wrong and are never challenged. That's what you want. Good luck to us. Hope Sark can do great things. I will be watching games and following recruiting whenever i can but this is my last post in this board, which should please most of you.
  8. Yea ok. He decommitted right after his visit and after hanging out with Archie and his family. Official or not, it's bad.
  9. Yes, i said someone with playoff experience. Doesn't mean that guy has been fired since then. Anyway, good night to you all. Hope we have a good recruiting week and weekend.
  10. Yea, i should not have written another. Anyway, i hope he turns out a great HC for us. He is easy to root for.
  11. Hey man, if you want to be obtuse on purpose, that's up to you. I hoped to have a coversation with some of you. Perhaps it's just me that thinks we lost some momentum because we have lost 5* commits, one right after an official and we haven't found equal talent to replace them with. Now, there is murmur that Armani might be decommitting too. If you choose to be a homer, you can explain away every negative trend and then you find nothing is ever wrong with our program. Then comes the miserable Saturdays.
  12. Texas is the leader for a few 5* recruits in MBB and we lost a couple of coveted 5* commits in football. Every basketball recruit that visit Texas has us at or near the top. We have tremendous momentum in our basketball program and the team he has assembled is ready to compete right away.
  13. I didn't have anyone particular in mind. Texas was able to lure Baird who was treated like a king at Lubbock. I would have like CDC to go after someone who had been to the playoffs instead we took a chance on another up and coming coordinator. Time will tell and I am happy to be wrong because that would mean i get to enjoy my Saturdays in the fall.
  14. I will be very happy if that happens. I don’t care about how I look. I just wish for Texas to be relevant in football again. I wasn't too thrilled about the Sark hire because I thought we needed to get someone with a lot more head coaching experience. He might turn out to be like Riley or better.
  15. We started to get the new coach bump with some early recruits and then covid locked things down. We weren't able to build on the momentum. That was my whole point. I am chilled. But i sure thought we would have lot more momentum by now.
  16. Hasn't A&M been an ass forever and yet they get Jimbo and all of a sudden string together a number of top 5-10 classes? When you hire a new coach, you should get a bump in his first full cycle, especially at a blueblood program like us. Back in April or May, I wrote perhaps Covid had taken away our new coach bump and i got attacked by someone. Anyway, not to say we won't land a stellar class regardless, but it sure seems like it's been harder to close on some guys we would have easily closed in other years. Also, Sark was not the homerun hire like Beard was - at least to outsiders. I believe this is probably why these two coaches have had different levels of recruiting success thus far. Sark has to prove on the field before people take notice.
  17. The difference today was the bullpen. Simms probably is the best closer there is, and unfortunately for us, he was not having an off day. When they brought in Simms with the game tied, I had a bad feeling we wouldn't be able to score again. Cole pitched well enough but he is no match for Simms. Big time closers win you championships.
  18. But, but we are not sheep! We can't let Government tell us what we can put in our bodies!
  19. Vaccines are deemed effective if they prevent you from getting severely sick. Hospitalization rate among vaccinated people is extremely low. You can catch the virus if you're around sick people but it's extremely unlikely to grow and make you very sick. I think a lot of people are missing this point.
  20. My wife and I caught the virus back in February. We are both healthy and yet got knocked down quite bad. The worst part was having to take care of our 2 and 5 year olds during that time. I am afraid some people see the world through their narrow lens and don't appreciate how their bad choices can affect others.
  21. Is there any official announcement from NCAA saying how many vaccinated players also got Covid or is it coming from NC State people? While the vaccine is effective against catching the virus, it's more effective in keeping people from getting very sick. That's the whole point - don't get hospitalized. Kansas was eliminated from the Big 12 MBB tournament due to covid protocol and Texas got extra rest because of it. They went on to win it all. We are facing the same exact situation that benefited Texas before but hurting us now. I didn't complain then and i won't complain now.

  23. And you have been attacking people here for a while now. Looks like you have nothing better to do. There are few of you old timers just lurk on this board looking for posts to attack. I have to wonder what you get out of it? Does this make you feel superior. Is that why some of you come here? Rather than engaging in friendly debates, you get pleasure out of attacking people because you can't do it in real life?
