  1. I'm assuming Ukrainian intelligence is paying/bribing and instructing Russians on how to light up all this shit all over Russia? Seems like something new is burning everyday.
  2. dragging it out for a while would work too
  3. I get that, but thought that Ukraine would gain such advantage in drones (both recon and armed) and counter drone technology to make up for the lack of those things you mention. Drones are relatively cheap, easier to train on, with little to no logistical tail, so they should be easy to supply in great numbers by the west. Given Russia's inability to make its own chips, plus sanctions, it seemed Ukraine's advantage would grow over time. I don't think we have great clarity at this point on the overall picture.
  4. That wouldn't be my first choice to end the story of a pathetic man's downfall, but at this point I'd take it
  5. After this is over, it will be fascinating to get macro level clarity on the drone/counterdrone piece of this conflict. I believed that over the course of the war, Ukraine would dominate both in numbers and quality of drones and also anti drone warfare. I assumed that western technology being supplied, bought, donated etc. would vastly overwhelm russian capabilities and ability to procure/manufacture more. I think Ukraine does have an advantage, but there have been a lot of lancet videos destroying ukrainian equipment, plus reports like this one, so it doesn't seem like an overwhelming advantage right now.
  6. I haven't seen anything on stuff like bail/bond, travel restrictions, gag order, etc. Did I miss it or have those rulings not been made yet?
  7. Yesterday I watched a nerodia grab a pretty big bullfrog right on the edge of the pond. He snuck up slowly underwater without making a ripple, and then grabbed that frog from behind so fast it couldn't even thrash. The only sound was the frog saying "aaaaawwwwwwwwww." The frog tried to kick its big ol legs but snek had him held up where the legs couldn't touch anything. Snek then spent maybe a minute getting the frog mostly in its mouth, then scurried up the bank with head still high, to finish swallowing him in the brush. Pretty wild. I've now heard several frogs get grabbed by snek and the sound they make is pretty sad/pathetic. Almost like they're saying "Thaat huuurts! He finally got me and it suuuucks"
  8. South Florida doesn't really have anything that we normally think of as "rural" because the interior is all everglades and unpopulated areas. It has a hodgepodge of coastal communities with varying income and demographic differences -- pockets of old farts, white trash, Cuban, etc.
  9. This is what gets me. As a former law dog, I understand that its normally a high bar to meet the standard for a forced judicial recusal. But what about when the DEFENDANT in the damn case PERSONALLY APPOINTED the judge??? That should be an automatic recusal -- but the precedent is not there yet I guess. Still, that should be the argument.
  10. Hopefully they find the right pressure points to collapse a lot of Russian lines and avoid crawling into every orc den
  11. He spends a lot of time explaining the legal system to mouth breathers, and some of them take it for stanning. Fuck you
  12. Do we need some Traver up in here? I fish because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful, and hate the environs where crowds of people are found, which are invariably ugly; because of all the television commercials, cocktail parties, and assorted social posturing I thus escape; because in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience; because I suspect that men are going along this way for the last time, and I for one don't want to waste the trip; because mercifully there are no telephones on trout waters; because only in the woods can I find solitude without loneliness; because bourbon out of an old tin cup always tastes better out there; because maybe one day I will catch a mermaid; and, finally, not because I regard fishing as being so terribly important but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant and not nearly so much fun.
  13. I'm a little late to the party, but this is an incredible thread, summary of the indictment. He is so fucked
  14. If you accept that nobody is going to invade Russia, even if its military is wiped off the map in Ukraine -- short of that, the free world should be focusing on de-nuking Russia. Maintain sanctions and starve the entire country until complete denuclearization.
  15. After the lake drains, I wonder how long it will take the lake bed to firm up to drive on? Wouldn't it be incredible in a couple weeks if Ukraine could just push straight from Nikopol to Enerhodar and take the ZNPP. Then, because there aren't any Russian defensive lines on the left bank of the lake from Nova Kakhova to Kamyanske, Ukraine could push all the way to Melitopol and the sea of Azov with little or no resistance. Which would be more or less game over for Russia in Ukraine. I'm going to believe this will happen, since Russia keeps coming up with new ways to fuck up
  16. Looks like the cross-border raid is over. I'm guessing this one didn't trigger Russia to move enough forces from Ukraine to that area, so we will probably see more of this kind of thing soon.
  17. Its going to last just long enough to cause Russia to divert forces and logistics to the area
  18. The first batch is apparently coming from the Netherlands. The US is now allowing re export by allies, but has not yet announced we are giving F16s as well
  19. Yea I concluded that it was written by the kids
  20. Your friend is correct. Most rivers you have heard of are too big to effectively walk/wade and are fished from drift boats. You are going to want to target some high country streams for the scenery and lots of willing trout, which will be on the small side generally. I know the area around lake city and telluride Colorado but there are great spots from New Mexico to Idaho. Pick an area or town and then figure out the surrounding streams. Best bet would be the ones where you have to hike a couple miles first. There are lots of good streams in rocky mountain national park which is easily accessible from Denver
  21. I think she broke the crazy scale on the hot/crazy matrix
  22. that would work, and they are also supposed to grow out of cow pies
  23. I don't think the smell of predators deters snakes. But predators like cats and dogs can kill or drive away rodents. That in turn results in fewer snakes around, since they are generally looking for food. Edit to add, this is to @Steel Shank, get your dog the snake vaccine at the vet. Its cheap and it works.
