  1. Well he was definitely benched in the Tech game You know the answer
  2. Well you can conclude they can’t execute said basic concepts against Rice and do what that info what you will
  3. I just don't see how this doesn't end up with Bama running multiple series' worth of additional offensive snaps and wearing the Texas defense down. Texas has to either hit on some of these deep shots or generate push in the run game to sustain some drives and get in the end zone as opposed to settling for FGs. The odds for both feel, uh, low heading into this particular game.
  4. ND is definitely moving up a good bit in my poll. I don't know that they have a CFP-competitive ceiling but clearly the floor is very high too, which counts for something these days. I already had UNC a good bit higher than the coaches/AP polls (top 15) so I am not really moving them up but I feel like where I slotted them is justified after watching them last night. A top tier QB and strong defensive front can cover a lot of issues and win a lot of games, as Mack knows well. Dropping USC a bit because I am not buying their defense and clearly I had Texas too high at 9. Tech and TCU gtfo obviously. Fresno State just beat Purdue and I'll probably move them into the poll. They are bringing quite a bit back off a MWC title team that was competitive with Oregon State and beat WSU in a bowl last year. I'll probably throw OU and aggy in because neither shit the bed and that seems to be the bar for week 1. I don't think I'm going to rank Colorado. They played a nice game yesterday and Sanders can straight up play at the QB position but I don't think they are going to have the depth to have staying power. There's simply no way Travis Hunter can play 100+ snaps a game through a full P5 schedule. I can also maybe forgive TCU a bit if they come out looking decent the next few weeks because preparing for that team had to be next to impossible not knowing at all what to expect. Looking around and seeing how many teams struggled with theoretically inferior opponents, I wonder if this is just going to be the norm going forward as there is more roster turnover with the portal.
  5. Alabama: 31 Texas: 27 Bama Yardage: 374 - exact same as last year, a metaphor Texas comes out looking sharper on offense. They look woefully unprepared against Rice so I have to think there was a heavy focus on Bama prep over the past couple weeks. Sark schemes up some points over the first few possessions, a strong Texas defense more or less keeps a lid on Alabama through the first half, and Texas takes a lead into the locker room. The kool aid is flowing, the game thread is a unabashed circle jerk. Texas finds itself with a 10-14 point third quarter lead... and Alabama has Texas exactly where they want them. We've all seen this movie before. We cling to hope that this time will be different but it feels the exact same as things start to unwind. The Texas offense stalls as they simply cannot run the ball on Alabama's front and Ewers's play deteriorates when he's asked to make plays off script. Alabama's offense isn't doing anything special but as their snap count mounts they start gashing the Texas defense for chunk yardage with regularity. Texas gets the ball back with 3-4 minutes left but can't execute a go-ahead/game-winning drive.
  6. Would love to. I've been to the UW campus and swung by the stadium but never seen a game. Washington is at the top of my list of schools I want to see Texas schedule a home-home with.
  7. After yesterday I already know I am going to get to somewhere between like 12-15 and start thinking "everyone sucks do I have to pick 25?"
  8. Texas’s win over Rice is probably the Big 12’s second best OOC win, behind UH pulling it out over UTSA I’m going to be irritated when we lose to one of these teams
  9. Yeah I was willing to overlook struggling but that’s a bad loss.
  10. Lmao is Todd Orlando calling the Tech defense
  11. He honestly should. You rarely get a better deal than two yards to win the game and his kicker sucks.
  12. Constantly running your extremely fragile starting QB is an interesting choice
  13. Did not know Oscar Giles was at Wyoming now lol
  14. If Sark had run the ball in the fourth quarter like this against Tech, Texas would have played in the CCG. Until this drive I was thinking Tech would pull it out but their defense is breaking down.
  15. Just as it’s true of Texas it’s true of rest - week 1 isn’t the end all be all. UCF, OU, and K State took care of business against lesser opponents. Texas fucked around a bit on offense but flashed dominant defensive potential and the game was never in doubt. Kansas has yet to put Jalon Daniels on the field. Tech I can cut a bit of slack opening on the road. OSU played three QB’s. There’s still room for some good teams to emerge. But yes lol at Baylor and TCU
  16. I’m sympathetic to Tech playing on the road a week before the Oregon game. Not a lot of P5s open the year on the road. I didn’t watch but I saw Kansas played without Jalon Daniels. They could be a top offense in the league with him back. Also didn’t watch UCF but seems like they took care of business. Texas may actually be complete dogshit on one side of the ball too.
  17. I think you’re forgetting K State but yeah definitely not a lot of impressive football from Bug 12 teams today. As meh as Texas looks on offense there’s no one that jumped out to me in a “oh fuck they’re on a different level” kind of way. OU and K State probably the two most impressive by default but typically you only learn about freshmen and red flags in these games. Texas isn’t any more yikes than anyone else beyond that. Kansas may be sneaky dangerous when Daniels comes back. I can cut Tech a bit of slack, going on the road the week before the marquee OOC game is tough.
  18. Or, you know, the old Baylor
  19. Okay and how’s the football game going?
  20. Yikes. Oklahoma State is fucking around with something called Central Arkansas too.
  21. Perhaps my meter is broken. It’s always hardest to tell after a game You can if you don’t think the QB can get them the ball past 10-15 yards
  22. No. Ewers is absolutely going to have to make plays to win. Texas isn’t going to run the ball effectively against Bama. If Texas can’t execute the passing game it will be non competitive
