  1. lol I didn’t even realize it was a Fox News, and only Fox News story. That connects some dots for sure.
  2. We were tied at halftime in the regular season finale against Baylor, which was a de facto Big 12 championship game. That team wasn’t that good but it nearly herp derped itself into a conference championship and Fiesta Bowl.
  3. Kind of wish I’d held off until today looking at what USC’s defense allowed to SJSU. Gashed for several long runs on the ground They’re going to have to lock Nevada the fuck down for me not to drop them notably.
  4. This theory has been tested and is not accurate. I try to do my part, because regardless if the root issue I’d order people not lose power, but between the fact that the AC is going to run for most of the peak demand period even when it’s set at 76-78, and my wife’s apparent mission to continue as much energy and pay as high of an electric bill as possible, I don’t know that there’s much impact at the household level.
  5. Our grandchildren will read about this summer as an example of how cool it used to be
  6. I don’t care much about the shirt either way but it is objectively funny to think about it that way
  7. At least. That's playoff good if Catalon has a healthy year. I personally am not counting on that but we really have no idea.
  8. Too many unknowns among interdependent positions to really say. For example, QB, RB, Guard, are all unproven and what you can win with at one depends on what you're getting out of the other.
  9. ND too much on the lines. Playing this game mid season mitigates that some for Navy because preparing for the option in a week is hard. Getting to prep for that through camp just makes ND’s physical advantage overwhelming. Still watching because football. ND’s passing game doesn’t seem like anything to write home about though I’m sure they’re keeping it intentionally vanilla.
  10. You should see the comments on Space City Weather whenever climate change is so much as mentioned. How are you so pessimistic on the football team but so fantastically optimistic on the weather?
  11. This is a more convincing argument that this team is going 8-4 than I could ever give
  12. Necro-reply #1 but after this summer that is a positive. Necro-reply #2 but the SEC has fit this description, between slavery and Jim Crow for much of this country's history.
  13. Hey, I was just quoting @KeysPhoneWallet
  14. Brooks got meaningful Carrie’s in one game and the results were meh. Do you think Bijan goes 6/18 against Washington? RoJo? The sanple size is miniscule so it would be silly to say he’s a JAG based on that but it’s illustrative of the step back. No doubt he, and Baxter, and Kielan, are talented - they are D1 football players for a reason; but if you think he or anyone else in that room today is not going to be a step back from having Bijan fucking Robinson paired with another NFL draft pick, I politely suggest you put down the kool aid. The thing is everyone knows Texas is going to lean on the pass. They have a ton of talent out there catching passes, a QB that can make NFL throws, and a line that’s proven it can protect the QB quite well. Light boxes and flooding the defensive backfield won’t be an adjustment, they’ll be standard procedure. Teams will take their chances with Texas running the ball, mixing in some stunts and disguised pressures as Burt Macklin pointed out, and my contention is that it’s not at all a given they’ll be able to punish that approach against teams with good fronts. Maybe they will, and ifthey can, hoo boy. We’re in business. But if not there are going to be more frustrating offensive games than seems to be the expectation.
  15. On offense I think the running game is being glossed over. The OL, particularly the interior, was a putrid run blocking unit. I’ve legitimately never seen a RB room consistently turn 0 or -2 yards into a gain like Bijan and RoJo did. Shit was wild and maybe a little taken for granted after two years. The OL has to be much better this year because the RB stable is taking a big step back, and while it’s reasonable to assume some improvement there’s a lot of ground to cover between where they were and where they need to be in order for this offense to not have to be one dimensional against good DL’s. If they don’t, defenses are just going to play light fronts, drop 8 to keep the passing game in check, and not worry about Texas being able to make them pay for it on the ground. This offense will go as far as the OL takes them. Defense, yeah, it’s sacks or if you want to expand it broadly just disruption. They have been good on a per play basis, hence the love from analytics, but the true drive killers like sacks and turnovers are few and far between. Even an elite unit will give up points if the opponent gets enough decent chances.
  16. Yes, but also, Bran Kelly makes Tom Herman look bubbly. Can’t imagine he’s a great closer anywhere that isn’t the LSU facilities.
  17. Some of this, some of simple fact that we’re the big state school for Baylor and Tech, and it’s also a lot easier to shit talk the team who’s taken Ls all across the conference over the past decade-plus as opposed to the one that’s largely run it on the field, last year nonwithstanding.
  18. Surly, where “the floor is 9 wins, we’re going to win the conference” and “the conference is blatantly out to get us” peacefully coexist
  19. That’s a weird choice of emoji
  20. Well, BOW said, paraphrasing “9-3 is the floor and anything less than 10 wins is failure” I read that as Maybe I’ve just been BOW’ed
  21. Pretty sure these antics are for show and intended to talk up the strength of the remaining members, but goddamn if the Big 12 hasn’t laid the table for accusations of bias if Texas ends up losing a game due to officiating
