I accept your analysis and observation sure seems to bear it out. But does this assume a certain level of talent (or lack thereof) in the back row?
It seems if a back row player is capable of routinely digging/passing closer to the net, she would do so without penalty from Elliott? Or maybe that skill rarely translates from high school to college and it never gets developed under Elliott?
Simple solution. Recruit better back row players.

The selling points would be the bag of cash that I would continue to send he and his family.

Defensive position coaches were given very little opportunity to teach technique...most of the defensive time in practice was spent working on the 847 different blitzes we tried to run.
Position coaches repeatedly approached Orlando asking for teaching time, and he said no. Apparently he's equal the egomaniac Herman is, if not worse.
During games, our defensive scheme was so complex that players spent too much time thinking about where they are supposed to be. Thinking athletes are rarely successful.
***These are all facts, not speculation***
I ain’t buying that. So I guess pop warner coaches have a ton of time to teach fundamentals because their fundamentals and ability to make a proper tackle are much better.

That’s it, Fire Coach Elliott.

Let’s just hope they’re not as scrappy/ as good defensively as UCSB. Texas tends to struggle with those types of teams.
-
It’s been a long time since Texas won a match like this. Just like every year how far they go in the tournament will depend on matchups.

I think Baylor will win.

Really? Trace it back to that clown Brown in December 2013 and we wouldn't be hand wringing this shit right now. Fucker sabotaged the program by deciding to go "recruiting" in Florida and the rest is history and what we are dealing with today.
The way to do it was how Bob Stoops did it.

Anymore Tom Herman dick riders? Just like I said, he’s Charlie Strong with a lighter complexion. 6.7 million overpaid dollars.

I think it’s going to be a loss for Texas tonight.

You are seeing what you want to see, which is what Charlie apologists do.
If Herman had shit the bed in Year 1, it would have been "see, it wasn't Charlie's fault we were so terrible in 2016!"
If Herman had won the Big 12, it would have been "see, the cake WAS baked!"
As it is, Herman improved the product on the field incrementally for two years running, so the Charlie apologists had to sulk and bide their time. We have clearly regressed in Year 3, mostly on the defensive side, so the Strong dipshits finally think they have something to crow about.
Because it's America Current Year so people get their enjoyment out of validation. Thank God we're playing like shit so I can passively aggressively snark at people who make fun of the fucking dumbass who couldn't make a bowl game back to back years as the head coach at Texas.
There's their silver lining. We may be playing like shit, but at least I can white knight for Charlie Strong.
The irony. I guess I can’t believe my lying eyes. Bottom line is, let’s hold EVERYONE to the same standards. No honest, objective, person can watch this team and say that it doesn’t look EXACTLY like a Charlie Strong coached team. Again, where’s the lie? Inconsistent offense with no imagination the only adjustments that are made is to go uptempo. Historically horrible defense, Pop Warner teams take better angles and tackle better than them. And a special teams unit in which the players don’t even know how to field a punt or kickoff. Facts.

Things aren't ideal but if you don't think it's better under Herman than it was under Charlie, I don't know what to tell you other than you're wrong. As somebody else said, Charlie is about to get fired by a G5 school where part of his salary is being paid by Texas. He's an abysmal head coach.
What does Charlie getting fired have to do with the fact that there’s really not any significant difference in what we’re seeing from Herman other than the fact that he’s benefiting from an experienced QB? I see the same mediocrity from Herman right down to horrible coaching decisions. Offense sporadic and leads the conference in sacks allowed. Horrible defense which is on pace to be the WORST Texas defense ever, and horrible special teams. And how many times is the supposed genius going to keep going for it on 4th down and leaving points on the field.?

Yes, thanks for being a little bitch and deflecting to my grammar because you can’t refute anything I said. Now, believing that Charlie Strong with a lighter complexion is going to do anything with this hot garbage of a team seems dumb.

People feel the need to keep updating that Charlie strong thread.
Real talk. This team looks exactly like a Charlie Strong coached team. Mind you the arrogant no it all Tom Herman is in year 3 as opposed to year 2.

WTF is Brooks supposed to do? Lie and tell me how great Texas is like my eyes don’t work or something and I’m Ray Charles?

Or has to get the referee to tell him he should accept a penalty.
Let me know when you see any difference from the garbage Charlie put out there to what we’re seeing now. Sporadic offense, horrible defense, horrible special teams. Hell, a pop Warner team does a better job of taking good angles and actually tackling people the right way.

At the 1:00 mark, this is why Texas will never be a strong ball control team.
Jerritt coaches them to "play the ball high, 20 ft, and 10 ft off (the net)"...meaning the back row players are already planning to pass the ball near or behind the 3 meter line and therefore limiting options in the transition offense. The only place the setter can put the ball is to the left pin (the typical Texas offense for the past decade).
Even with hard driven balls, you still want to try to pass the ball 3-5 ft off the net, so that the setter can run an offense with more attack options and to keep the opposing defense guessing where the ball is going. But he doesn't coach that and focuses so much more with blocking to slow down the ball (which, in itself, is a good thing).
But when Texas starts facing opposing teams with elite hitters, the block becomes a non-factor and the weakness in passing/ball control is truly exposed (pretty much every post-season tournament run minus 2012 - but no team could really stop Haley/Bailey that year even though every team knew they were getting the ball).
Texas has had some of the most elite hitters in the country in recent history: Destinee Hooker, Juliann Faucette, Bailey Webster, Haley Eckerman, and Paulina Prieto-Cerame...but none of them could pass as a left-side hitter at the next level and because of that, most had their careers end early (all of them had to transition to the Opposite position after college but Hooker is the only one who made the move successful).
Elliott has done so much for the Texas program, but this will always be the thing he is remembered for.
And I’m still waiting for someone to give me ALL of the great left side hitters that were stars in college that could pass at the next level from Penn State, Nebraska, Minnesota, etc that are also flourishing on the U.S. or their respective countries National teams. I’ll wait.

Here’s something for those that think Jerritt is just the recruiting coordinator.

Of course they were talented but it has not just been psu beating us, they also had a decisive coaching advantage. How many times did we play in the final 4? How many of those years did we have the most talented team? How many of those did we prove to be best coached?
Every time I state that over 19 years Jerritt has built something great here but he has also proven to not develop well, my opinion hurts a few feelings. It's an opinion, based on 19 years of data but still my opinion.
Again, glad that you’re a psychic and knew that Texas was the most talented team because Jerritt recruits a bunch of highly touted OH, and MB’s every year but that’s just my opinion. And I’m still waiting for all the great 6 rotation players that come from other programs that are lined up to compete for the national team.

Elite recruiting has not stopped our staff from failing to develop which leads to lack of consistency in playing sound & smart. This has been the 19 year Jarritt trademark.
Very grateful for what he’s built but man, he’s missed some great opportunities to have at least 4 more titles.
Really? At least 4 more? Or maybe those other teams like Penn state were also great. I’m glad you’re a psychic though.

I’m going to say it, and say it again. Get rid of the damn 3 man fronts and play a simple 4-2-5 and let Joseph put his hand in the dirt and get after the QB

It’s a damn shame that they haven’t taught college players how to BREAK DOWN and bring your feet with you when you’re trying to tackle someone especially in the open field.

Sounds good to me. Let Ossai put his hand in the dirt and come around the corner rushing the passer.
