  1. Miami jumped over Brock's back even if Brock doesn't move back any more. That isn't establishing position. He fouled Brock just like he fouled Carr on the other end of the floor. But the refs were busy unashamedly turning the game one direction. Nothing else matterered.
  2. So now your whole point is Brock kept moving his feet? Jeez. But the guy who kept backing up and jumped established position? Your point is getting worse actually.
  3. I was commenting on someone using player safety as the reason to call Brock for the foul. If safety isn't an issue then you don't have a point anyway. But what does safety have to do with anything? You're whole point.
  4. Correct. One player doesn't have to care about safety. He can play as recklessly as possible. But everyone else has to make sure the reckless player is safe. Every rule has to be bent to one team getting 27 free throws in one half.
  5. Or you know the miami guy could protect his own safety by not jumping into Brock. But I get it Texas boards have to side with what Miami players want.
  6. Good to know. Let's play some pick up. If you box me out I am going to back up and jump on your back then call you for foul. Easy win.
  7. I agree on that. Texas seemed to lack energy down the stretch. Defense got some bad calls but also wasn't as tenacious as before. On offense, they lost composure with several turnovers, didn't run the offense, and poor shot selection.
  8. I watched it over and over again. Brock didn't foul the guy. Omire kept giving ground and then jump over Brock's back. Brock kept moving back to keep contact. It was a bad call. You don't have to simp for refs when your team gets hosed.
  9. When you re-establish contact, which Brock did. He didn't feel contact until the guy falls on his back basically. It was a bad call. Probably should have been a no-call. Definitely should not have been an overturned call. But when refs are busy tilting a game unashamedly they are busy tilting a game unashamedly.
  10. How can you tell someone hasn't played any basketball, or at least well, without them saying it.
  11. When you are blocking out, like Brock had been doing since they were under the basket, and you don't feel the player any more you back up until you make contact again to make sure you re-establish the block out. You don't stop. Brock did what he was supposed to do. It was a bad call and it probably cost the game.
  12. Bobby is an idiot and simply running cover for the team he makes money off of. Everything is skewed to drive interest for next year's team.
  13. The OL this year was bad versus DL stunts. That should be fixed by coaching. Next year you should see an obvious improvement. If not, we are back to the drawing board. This year we had Freshmen playing. That excuse is gone in 2023.
  14. Yes. That is why I mention the offensive staff and gameplan as part of the problem. You can't divorce the two factors completely, but it isn't all just Ewers. The 8YPA isn't magical. It is a rule of thumb for mediocre play in college. They started dialing it back after OSU and then KSU, which means that is part of the issue but not all of it. Neyor could change that. Using multiple deep threats could help so that teams can't simply shadow Worthy could change it. I agree with the comment overall though.
  15. ~6 YPA is very bad for college football. I think ~8 YPA is average. It isn't the only stat to determine how good or bad a QB is, but it reflects completion % and success moving the ball down the field. Here is Ewers after OU. You can see statistically Ewers didn't have a good game until Baylor. I would say they were all bad with TCU and Kansas being garbage. Maybe it was understandable against ISU's defense. Against KSU he did well in the 1st half so it wasn't the defense. It was on him and Sark not adjusting to KSU. It looks like Sark figured something out after Kansas. Against Baylor, he didn't have many attempts but did good when called upon. The problem was giving up 8 points. Obviously concerning, but these types of things should get better as he gains experience. He wasn't bad with interceptions which was a concern coming into the year. That is on the positive side. I would say overall his play was a disappointment but understandable with his inexperience and seems like Sark is still trying to figure out how to use him best. ISU - 6.6 OSU - 6.5 KSU - 6.4 TCU - 4.4 KU - 5.1 BU - 12.1
  16. I didn't. If you didn't then good on you too. But that type of thing does have an effect. It became the narrative that only Ewers could "unlock" Sark's offense. Maybe he can maybe he can't. But when I pointed that out a couple of weeks ago the fine people of Surly reacted the way you would expect if you had drunk the koolaid.
  17. Leaving the idea of "7 win Sark" aside, I think part of the issue with fan expectations was the 9.95ers. I don't think anyone really expected much more than a 8-4 season until Boyd and others started proclaiming how excellent the Texas passing game was going to be. Losing Neyor for the year hurt but that wasn't the biggest issue. The biggest issue was the way over estimation of how good Ewers was going to be as first year starter. At a base level, QB play didn't get significantly better in 2022 compared to 2021. Even the last game of each season was reminiscent. Sark had to put the whole game on the shoulders of the OL and RBs. It worked both years. There is a good chance that next year is the year that Texas gets a big upgrade in QB play. Either Ewers will improve with an added year or hopefully Cark sticks around and continues his improvement curve. It was obvious 2021 to 2022. The point though is don't listen to talking heads. They make money by getting fans excited about the next season. We see the improvement curve now with 5-7 to 8-4 and recruiting well. Sark either builds on these results and makes something of himself or we stay around an 8-4 level and Texas starts looking for another coach in 3-4 years.
  18. Ian Boyd is a pussy, who has never played the game. Who cares what he has to say. His comment on Arch Manning is at best ignorant. He didn't notice how unprepared the team was in a make or break game for the season? I don't buy it. Sure he had fun hanging out with people. He will also enjoy Thanksgiving with his family. Poor analysis on how people make decisions. Arch may in fact come to Texas. Or he may decide he won't be developed enough. No one knows until he signs the paper. One thing I do know. Arch won't be satisfied being on the field and making NIL money.
  19. He is mentally weak. His don't give a shit attitude is just that. He isn't calm in the line of fire. He doesn't care that much as long as he gets to start and is getting money.
  20. Probably. But who cares what players do when they leave Texas? I'm a Texas fan. Not a fan of players that used to play here. I am when they do something at Texas, like Deonte Foreman.
  21. If so that's criminal. They played like crap in the 2nd half. If they were coasting on that then Sark should be fired tonight.
  22. The issue isn't who was better. Yes Stewart was better. My point is that our best WR recruit for some reason isn't good enough to get on the field. If Neyor was healthy that is understandable. But he's hurt and they need more speed on the field. Agiye Hall is a waste of a roster spot. Billingsley hasn't done anything either. But a high 4 star WR can't get on the field. Seems sketchy to me.
  23. Thompson was a 4 star recruit with a 94.43 rating. Good enough to contribute as a WR. Stewart was a 5 star with a 98.43 rating. He was a better recruit, but on the same planet? Yes. They were on the same planet. Xavier Worthy was a 4 star prospect with a 95.76 rating. These are all similarly rated players.
