  1. Others have given good answers on Montana, but I think his biggest attribute was his attitude. Guy had ice water in his veins. He never got shook up. On the drive that won the Super Bowl against the Bengals, one of the linemen said they were all in the huddle at the start of the drive, nervous, and Montana looked up and said, "Hey, there's John Candy." He said they all looked over and John Candy was standing on the sidelines watching. Then he drove them the length of the field and threw the winning touchdown.
  2. Okay, saw Infinity War and Solo. So, I've seen two of them. Infinity War was well done, and they've done a good job of juggling all the characters.
  3. I hear you, but the non-call is not a reviewable play. Was it a bad call? Yes. Would the Saints have won if it had been correctly called? Yes. But there's no way you want to open up the Pandora's box of what would happen if coaches could issue challenges because a penalty wasn't called. Get off my lawn and all that, but high school is more enjoyable in a lot of ways because there's no replay.
  4. May be a first for me. I have not seen any of the movies nominated in any category. OTOH, I'm pretty much super heroed out, and only movies I saw last year were when wife dragged me to Last Jedi and Solo.
  5. What you say is true, but you left out "fuck the Steelers."
  6. As a person who doesn't like replay, a couple of thoughts. A non-called penalty is not a reviewable play, and I'm not aware of anyone who has suggested allowing coaches to challenge a non-called penalty. To me, it's not the matter of taking out the "human element," it's the fact that it delays the game, increases bickering, and most of the reviewed calls are so close, they could go either way. College basketball seems to have done a good job of implementing review without slowing down the game, but for the most part, I'd rather take a bad call every so often than have to deal with the five minute commercial breaks that happen with every review.
  7. You misspelled "ass-width."
  8. I'll cosign on Fuck the Eagles.
  9. Salary cap was a factor, but dumping Johnson and getting Barry Switzer was the killing stroke. Johnson would have won four straight, cause he whipped Seifert every time they played, and Seifert took out Switzer every time they played. Only reason the Cowboys made it in 95 was cause the Packers took out the 49ers. Switzer was also the one letting players come in hung over and spreading rumors about Aikman. Guy was a cancer on the team. They won that third Super Bowl in spite of him.
  10. Yeah, but they're saying it from their living rooms this year. WHERE ARE YOUR EAGLES NOW?
  11. Good point. A little trivia: Weeb Eubank is the only coach to win NFL championships with two different teams (Colts and Jets.) He also coached two HOF QBs, Unitas and Namath, winning championships with both.. Shula is interesting. He coached three HOF QBs, Unitas, Griese and Marino, but only won championships with Griese, the least heralded of the three. Course, he had Unitas at the end of his career. Shula and Landry both had teams that peaked just in time to get raided by the World Football League. The Steelers gelled shortly after the WFL tanked, and didn't lose players, allowing them to keep their core together for their entire run. One thing that makes the Belichick-Brady partnership unique, is that they've hung together for going on twenty years, and the only people left from their first Super Bowl win are the owner, Brady, Belichick, I think one trainer, and probably the guy that sweeps the place out.
  12. Hadn't heard that. He's more honest than me.
  13. Sanders quit.
  14. It was a free play. QBs will make a more daring play when they know they've got a free five yards at the snap.
  15. Comes back to identifying talent and then coaching it. Also, one great offensive linemen and four guys named Irv doesn't do you much good. Pats don't have a weak link on their line, and apparently have enough good players to sub when a starter goes out.
  16. Not so sure that he would have been great anywhere. Brady was disappointed he wasn't drafted by the 49ers, cause he grew up as a fan, but they've been through nine coaches since he's been in the league. No way a quarterback maintains excellence changing coaching staffs every two years. Agree on your other point. Belichick has a theory that there are a few superstars, but a LOT of people who can perform adequately. He also has an uncanny knack for identifying the lunch bucket guys that perform well enough, and he doesn't have any big holes in the roster. He also jettisons players the second they become a distraction. Randy Moss would have a ring if he'd kept his mouth shut. Belichick will not overspend on any position to the detriment of other positions. Brady fit into the system, and although most people can't name another player on the Patriots roster, he takes less money than he could, compliments other players in interviews, and is the ultimate team guy.
  17. Mike Renfro, but yeah, it was a bad call. Renfro made the catch, but the refs called it incomplete, claiming they could see he had his feet down, but couldn't tell if he had possession, cause they didn't have position to see his hands.
  18. SIAP, but cool backstory to the Belichick hoodie story. He got pissed because he was required to wear approved NFL apparel on the sidelines (sell NFL merchandise.) So, he got a hoodie, cut off the sleeves and started wearing that. It became a hit, and people started buying the hoodies and cutting the sleeves off.
  19. Brady's been fortunate to have Belichick as a head coach. He also takes a lot less money than he could, although the $15 mil a year ain't chump changeThis year, he made less than Blake Bortles. He knows Belichick will use that money to ID offensive linemen and keep them happy. The most impressive things about him are his attention to detail, and frankly, the fact that he's never gotten bored with winning big games.
  20. Looks like the Andy Reid playoff magic is still alive. Pats held the ball for 43 minutes to 21 for KC.
  21. Yeah, it wasn't so much the fans abandoning the Rams. Georgia Frontiere made Rachel Dawes look like a lovable owner.
  22. Just imagine how far the Rams could have gone if they hadn't fired Jeff Fisher.
  23. Ten points to Gryffindor
  24. It wasn't cheap. You oughta know, you bought it.
