Game week 2024, week 7 Georgia @ Texas
Generations of southern inbreeding must have left you mentally handicapped, so I feel bad responding too harshly to this. You better get back to your TPS reports.

Hey PK -- What would you say you do here?
The transformation of Vernon Broughton this season is one of the most shocking jumps in play I can remember. Just a completely different player compared to every other year on campus.

Appreciate you posting a photo of the hundreds of idiots who don’t understand the concept of multiple entrances.

Hereditary probably a tougher watch for a 16 year old than Exorcist. The latter is pretty old times feeling by today’s standards. on the flip side, original Texas Chain Saw Massacre still creeps me out. Amazing movie.

Texas vs ou - 2:30pm on ABC
I think you are right about that. Not many contenders, honestly. Kindle maxed out when they spun him down to end full time in 09. Muckelroy was really solid but probably not this impactful. Jordan Hicks was very good, but he struggled to stay healthy and I’ve blocked those teams out. Gary Johnson was pretty good his final year.

Are you opposed to Uber.com for some reason? $100 ballpark. Expect a long walk in JFK and an hour car ride.

Had a terrific meal at Foxface Natural last Friday. Very inventive and with a great wine pairing. Kangaroo tartar and pickled anchovy/sungold dishes were the two highlights for me.

Halloween/Horror Movie Thread
I loved the original Speak No Evil, and was very skeptical of the American remake. I thought they did a pretty good job. Definitely nowhere near as horrific as the original, but still a good flick. Edited to remove whiff of a spoiler for those who care

2024 Presidential Election Thread - Let's keep the party going.
Can’t believe I’m saying this but I agree with Rex. Cruz is a piece of shit no doubt, but I probably wouldn’t have legitimate concern that he would launch a war if somebody tweets something mean about him. Hell, we already know you can trash his wife and he’ll roll over like a bitch.

New Orleans Food and Drink Thread
Thanks for the recs. Nothing available at Mamou and only a 9:30 at Saint Germain, so decided to go with 8pm at Dakar. Will see if I can squeeze in a second meal on Sunday.

Thanks, will look into. Friend of mine also just recommended Dakar. Looks awesome. My only hesitation is the non-refundable $200 charge at time of booking

New Orleans Food and Drink Thread
I have a solo dinner night in New Orleans in late October. Looking for recs for upscale/upscale-ish place (preferably with dinner service at a bar/counter seating, tho not a must). Thinking something like Shaya or R'evolution, but those are pretty established now so wondering if Surly has any other recs.

Vernon “it’s already been” Broughton
This is me. I thought he was a pure JAG, and then the spring game thing was really weird. But he’s been really good this year. Impressive stuff

Central Park Zoo (weather dependent) is good for a kid that age because it's in the middle of Manhattan (less travel time) and it's a very confined loop, so by the time your kid has entirely lost interest and/or is melting down, you are done and can get back to your hotel quickly. The usual suggestion for kids would be American Museum of Natural History. I don't think you will make it long with a 2 year old, so just be ready to miss quite a bit. I have an almost two year old, but I live in the west village downtown so all of my other suggestions are tied to the west side of lower Manhattan. In that area, assuming weather is nice and you are sufficiently dressed, you could stroll your kid around the Little Island and then, when they get antsy, take them a 10 minute walk down to the playground at Pier 51. This is also close to the Chelsea Market (indoors and stroller friendly) and Whitney Museum (indoors and stroller friendly, but obviously depends on your kid's tolerance for adult stuff - maybe Pier 51 after Whitney). The lowest High Line entrance is also right there and is stroller friendly. There are a surprising number of good restaurants that are kid friendly in the 5:00-7:00 dinner window. Meaning, they have high chairs and won't treat you like a pariah. Don't expect a Texas-style kids menu, but if you want actual good food and not shit food in midtown, suggestions include: (1) Barbuto (we eat here once a week at least); (2) Pastis; (3) Anton's; and (4) Locanda Verde, which is farther downtown in TriBeca. All of those are also good lunch options. Pretty sure Locanda Verde does a Thanksgiving lunch if that is something you need. I have plenty of other suggestions (again, mostly in the West Village and TriBeCa), just PM me if you need more help. Breweries are also great for kids and adults, but all of those are in Brooklyn. If you want to venture that way, I can give suggestions. - Tell me about New York City
