  1. I was too young for 1978-80 Oilers and 1981 Rockets but thank god the Rockets came along in 1994 & 1995 because Oilers 1991-93 was the fucking worst shit ever. I did yell out "I am not a curse" from the 3rd base line at Rosenblatt after Oniveros fielded the final out in the 2002 College World Series as the dogpile was going on. We then proceeded to party with the Street family at Starsky's immediately after the game with a celebratory meal of steak the Drover (72nd & Mercy). Texas needs to figure shit out fast because we're 18 years and counting since baseball & football and infinity years and counting in basketball and IDGAF about the rest ;-)
  2. Yeah the two "Napoleon" coins I have are of Napoleon III not I (both 20 franc pieces 1860 & 1869 respectively) Mexico mints FAR fewer Libertads than the US does Eagles.
  3. Liberia... https://www.scottsdalemint.com/product/2024-liberia-commander-series-napoleon-bonaparte-bust-1-troy-oz-9999-gold-coin/
  4. At some point the gold silver ratio will catch back up to it's more historical norms but since 1980 gold has definitely been the way better investment. I have over $1,000 face in half dollars like $350 of it are Franklins, $500 are walkers, and $150 in kennedys technically both coin & bullion but none of them are rare as far as I know. I'm more into old 90% coins for their fractional silver content and that they were historically already used as legal tender and universally recognied. In the shit hits the fan need to barter world I will definitely have to tell people "any coin minted before 1965 that is a dime, quarter, or half-dollar were made of 90% silver and each $1 face contains .715 ozt silver on average" but I would imagine that will come in handy at the farmers market. I fully realize at my age and with my leg you either need to have a skill people need, resources people need, or money to exchange and I definitely fit into that latter camp.
  5. Oh and go back to the BCS formula to select the CFP. It sucked at picking out the 2 vs 3 but now that it has a field of 12 to work with anyone crying because they came in 12th (the 12th seed will be lower almost every year) really doesn't have much of a leg to stand on.
  6. I just don't understand how these chuckle fucks can't figure it out. Relegation model for football with no notion of conferences at all. Regional conferences for the remaining sports to mitigate mid week travel absurdity. Tell the NCAA to fuck straight off.... THE END
  7. I've lived in Detroit, St Thomas, Oakland, Richmond, DC, & Denver outside of Texas and occasionally you have to "break the law" because it's too big a pain in the ass to fly home when you get a craving ;-) With that said it NEVER was sufficient and the first thing you would do upon returning home was eat Tex-Mex, BBQ, & Cajun in that order.
  8. I think we need to create a new classification of disease.... agpoptosis similar to it's cousin apoptosis (programmed cell death) here we just have programmed cult belief that results in existential death during life.
  9. What the shit are we doing not paying the assistants enough??
  10. These are my favorites.... I've committed to buying every release while I can.. https://sdbullion.com/shop-commander-coin-series
  11. Make sure you download this song and as soon as you get in your rental car put this on
  12. For stuff downtown.... I know they haven't announced the dates yet but should the Lions so happen to be playing in Detroit that Sunday then Elwood Bar & Grill is the spot to pregame and I would make it down to Greektown to eat at Pegasus Taverna. The lamb chops are excellent they still don't rival New Hellas (RIP been gone since 2008 and had been there since 1901 previously) but you will have a good time. The Old Shillegah is my favorite downtown watering hole (assuming you like Irish Dive Bars). Hockeytown Cafe is pretty cool for all the Red Wings nostalgia The two famous coney places are Lafayette & American and are right next door to each other. There is an industrial/goth/freak bar called Leland City Club down off Bagby that some pretty wild raucous shit used to go down back in the day (2007-09) The best BBQ place in Detroit is Slow's BBQ down by old Tiger Stadium but if you go get BBQ in Detroit from TX then you are truthfully insane ;-) Also if you are going to go over to Windsor for the Windsor Ballet then Leopards/Cheetahs were the spots to go ~15 years ago I assume that to still be the case.
  13. Another badass dining option for those willing to brave it into Metro Detroit is Andiamo.... There is one in DTW airport but skip that one unless you have no other options... Livonia: Closest to Ann Arbor Bloomfield Hills: This is the old Machus Red Fox location which is famous for being the last place Jimmy Hoffa was seen alive Warren: The OG location about 6 miles north of where Eminem went to high school Downtown: On the riverfront Recommendation: Filet w/ zip sauce If you need some background on zip sauce:
  14. If you are looking for a spot to eat near the aforementioned bus/tailgate Cottage Inn & Baba Dari are over by Packard St and a reasonable walk. Also when I hit up AA I usually make sure to get a sandwich at Maize & Blue Deli you can kinda think of it as Michigan's own Ike's Love & Sandwiches.
  15. I haven't been to Ann Arbor for a game since 2013 but back in the day it was usually cheaper and less annoying to park in a metered spot on the street and get a ticket than it was to deal with the chuckle fuck of parking on the golf course.... The MBA students have a school bus decked out in maize and blue and they usually have kegs, beer bongs, and a DJ going you just need to buy a wrist band (assuming of course a decade later it is still going on). It is right next to the train tracks at Hill St & S 5th Ave which makes for a nice easy walk to the big house. https://www.instagram.com/therossbus/
  16. If you are going to Detroit and are a fan of Via 313 pizza then you must go visit Loui's Pizza on 9 Mile & Dequindre in Hazel Park then you will know what real Detroit style pizza is not that decent but not great knock off ;-) Also the antipasto salad there is a must get I used to work with her son in Center Line back in 2007-09 and she still works there (as of Dec 2023 which was my last trip)
  17. Man I figured when I saw this get bumped we'd have our first 2024 cadaver..... Y'all slippin/trippin
  18. I always thought it was crazy that Reykjavic was so close to the Mid-Atlantic Ridge was but man I didn't realize just how proper fuct they could possibly be if shit goes the wrong way over the next ~30 years.
  19. Oh man well they always do a boxing day special which is usually like 35% off and so it's like the annual christmas present punch in that code and book your trip throughout the following year ;-)
  20. Don't have time to read 19 pages but Isla Mujeres is badass and Privilege Aluxes is one of my all time favorite resorts. This is coming from someone who lived on St Thomas and is a total beach/diving snob. It's accessibility and affordability from TX is unparalleled IMHO.
  21. Eh they would probably be more of a competitive threat in the NIL world vs the B1G than they were Alabama & LSU however that would still require them pulling their heads out of their asses for a reasonable amount of time and we all have been proven that seemingly will never happen. They definitely are more likely to win a B1G title than an SEC one....
