  1. You’ve been out to the East/South Rim before right?
  2. I’ve recommended Ernst Tinaja on the other BB thread. Not much of a hike, maybe a mile each way but pretty cool little unique spot that I didn’t even realize existed until just a few years ago. It’s down in that section of the park where the hot springs are. Not really near the hot springs, but in that side of the park. Google pics. Last year I was out there and we stayed in the state park in a fairly remote spot down 27 miles of dirt road. The last few miles were no-shit rocky creek crossings and 4x4 only. There wasn’t anything exceptional there but that ended up being our favorite part of the trip, just being away from the national park crowds. But if you’ve got a busy agenda it wouldn’t work well because it literally took two hours just to get back to the pavement plus another hour to get to the chisos. I’m due for a trip out there.
  3. Unless you are building a really expensive pool, you're not going to get to pick a builder. The builder is going to pick you. I started the process a few months ago and made a bunch of phone calls. The company I went with was the one I was hoping not to go with but they were literally the only ones that were willing to come and return phone calls and schedule a quote. I went with Cody and it's probably going to be a 6 month process minimum. I would have preferred to give my money to a smaller business but they were't interested in the work. Mine is a basic 15X30 rectangle pool with no spa but a decent amount of decking. Pools like that are running $80k and up. I had one guy straight up tell me if I wasn't spending close to $200k they didn't have time for the job right now. Go check https://www.surlyhorns.com/board/index.php?/topic/342-yes-pools-are-worth-it/page/36/#comments Poolflood drops some good knowledge in there and might be able to help you find a builder. Good luck.
  4. Is this a joke about tits? I feel like its a joke about tits. I'm not tall but with the front seat slid forward it's 7' 4" from the back of the front seat to the back glass. It is cramped with the ceiling though, a modified crouched seated position is as tall as you can get. That mattress I put in there is 6'5", so a little room to spare on each end. I have a RTT now and it's more comfy but it's plenty doable inside the cab for a minimalist who doesn't like a a lot of set-up/takedown with campsites.
  5. Nice! I love my 2000. Little things come up on it that can be irritating. Door lock motors, diff bushings, bearings, CV boots, etc... But I still love driving it and it still surprises me that it's 21 years old and drives this nice. Sure beats having a car payment, IMO. Mine is at 210k too. Do yourself a favor and research the AHC system. a couple of great threads on IH8Mud about it. I started out in the school of thought that's I'd yank it out and replace with conventional suspension but I've come around on it. It still rides nice and I love getting a 2 inch lift at the touch of a button when I need it. I just did an AHC fluid flush, which was a lot easier than I thought and the ride got even better. You and I are both probably due for new AHC globes soon and I hear from the guys who have done it that the ride improves back to that same new car off-the-factory floor feel. It's an easy job for a DIYer and I'll probably do it in the next year just because.
  6. That's exactly where I'm at on lots of trips. Keep the peace on the flightdeck all day, have my beer alone at the bar, and figure out when I'll be able to move to Denver. 4 years and 11 months, minimum for me. Gotta get the youngest off to college first.
  7. The deal as far as I know is that we currently suck and we’re all hoping the next round of management can unfuck some of GKs mess. We don’t have the staffing to support this schedule. There’s definitely some antivaxxer hardliners out there but I haven’t heard of any movement to call in sick in retaliation. If anything there might be a lack of people picking up open trips for extra pay compared to what the company is used to. But that should be planned for in staffing levels and it wasn’t.
  8. I'm in the middle of a couple weeks off and have been completely checked out. No fucking idea what's going on but it isn't good. It's embarrassing. The hardline anti-vaxxer crowd is definitely there and especially in the southern bases. I'm based in one of those and haven't heard anything about a concerted effort to fuck things up but I definitely work with a lot of guys not happy. I'm also the guy that stays off the work-related forums and FB groups so I'd be the last to know. For months we've been way understaffed as the company expanded. The training dept couldn't keep up with all the guys coming back from leaves and they weren't on the line as fast as the company hoped they'd be. The operation was already beyond it's limits. It hardly takes anything to completely wreak havoc right now. I get the desire to overschedule to cash in on a nation of people chomping at the bit to travel all of a sudden, but the signs were there that we weren't operationally ready for that.
  9. Some of you have horrible luck or weird expectations or something. I'm fucking awful at planning details of a day like this and ended up not really planning shit and everything went pretty damn smooth. Had a hotel room downtown. Traffic from downtown to some close in parking was easy and quick leaving the hotel at 8am. Had nothing more than a vague idea of where to park and ended up easily parking in one of those makeshift lots a couple hundred yards or less from the front gate. Met friends, found a ton of wonderful shitty foods and beer. Headed into the stadium about 10:40. That took a little bit with the crowds at the scanners, but nothing that would get my panties in a wad. Once inside it was up easy to get to the seats. Made it well before kickoff. Midway thru the 1st I made a concessions run... 10 minutes tops and a shitload of cold drinks for everyone. Went again in the 3rd and found most drinks sold out. They only had Mountain Dew and Pepsi. I hate Mountain Dew and Pepsi. I happily drank Mountain Dew and Pepsi because who fucking cares? Of course it took a while to get out of the stadium afterwards but again... so what? Kids and I checked out some cars and ate a little more and left the fair less than an hour later. Had some traffic for 5-10 minutes and then open roads all the way out of Dallas. And not kid friendly? Granted, my kids are old enough to not only be not bothered by a few key-placed "Motherfuckers" but to actively insert a few of their own... but still I never saw a single thing all day that wouldn't be appropriate for a kid. We talked about the idea of coming across some methhead sister-fucker types and the drama that could come with that. But we never saw anything other than people from both sides acting more or less reasonable. I've had worse fan experiences at DKR.
  10. I waited in line twice for less than 10 minutes each. They were sold out of most stuff that second time but it was no big deal because I had bought about 3 drinks per person the first time. If you're coming back from the concession stand early in the game with less than 3 full drink caddies you're a rookie.
  11. Yeah but I love our shithole. I hope they never renovate it again unless it's in danger of collapsing. For sure, but there always has been. My kids never had their tickets scanned at all. They scanned mine and my kids had gotten caught behind another party and when they finally got up to the scanner guy they didn't know what to do because I had the tickets. I just waved them to ignore the guy and walk on in... so they did. Not even a second glance. The ticket scanner guys were overwhelmed and anyone who wanted to could've walked right in if they timed it right.
  12. You mean other than the OU team from exactly one year ago that came into our game with 2 losses and unranked? Your football posts come across like those from a 12 year old paying attention to her first season of football.
  13. I think that's a just a pump that can put out higher pressure for seating the bead on a tubeless tire. You need the get the air in quick for that. You only need that for the initial setup, not for daily pressure upkeep. I don't have one but my basic dual chamber pump can still usually seat the bead. If not a bike shop would use a compressor and have it on in seconds for a nominal fee if any.
  14. From my bed in South Austin and awake because my girlfriend had too much wine and set her alarm clock an hour too early... FIGHT!
  15. I’d be there but I’ll have the kids with me and they don’t know I have an alter ego named Your Mom and a bunch of imaginary friends from the internet.
  16. I used the free version for a long time. Just checked and now I'm on the paid version but don't remember why. Mostly I just use it to follow my son and keep up with his high school track workouts. My rides go on there automatically but it's rare that I actively do anything with it. Strava for mountain biking seems like overkill. Every trail and type of terrain is so different that keeping track of mileage really doesn't mean anything like it does for a roadie or a runner. 10 miles on one trail might be a casual cruise while 10 miles on another trail might be a multi-hour ass-kicking. I guess a lot of people use it to chase KOMs or to compare their efforts on a trail. I'm rarely ever aware of how fast I go or how long a trail takes me. I tend to judge myself on the obstacles I clean or fail to clean each ride without regard to the speed. Trailforks is my go-to app. I use it to find trails, to get un-lost, to remind myself of trail names, etc... MTB Project is also good and has better descriptions of trails if you're somewhere unfamiliar, but for just seeing them and navigating them I like Trailforks user-experience best.
  17. Lincoln Riley is the child of two people who think it's ok to give your kid a last name for a first name.
  18. Did mine 6 months ago and it took 4 weeks. Regular service, not expedited. Situation seems fluid, State Dept website says 16 weeks now.
  19. After a Thursday night game week when they have extra time before the next game, and with access to a private jet that gets him to Ohio in an hour and a half or so…. Who cares? I’m glad he’s not here and I don’t really care for the guy but in the world of the NFL this doesn’t move the needle for me.
