  1. I think this what I need to come to grips with and just do it. On the soloing part though, I want to develop my own style but this is still the best approach to doing that. Wouldn't hurt to brush back up on shapes\Forms and maybe scales and sequences.
  2. Melissa Ledger\Northrup - Killed by Kenneth Wayne McDuff. She and her family lived down the street from us. Little thing. She was a sweet kid too. If any one was outside at my house she would always stop as she was walking past and visit for a bit. I always kidded her about something - like a big brother - and she always had the best girly giggly response. Breaks my heart to this day. The other side of the coin... If I am wrong on the order of events, sue me. A head washes up around the twin bridges in Waco. Some time after that, Bosque County sheriff's department or local guy pulls over a vehicle for routine traffic stop. As the officer was approaching the vehicle, driver caps himself. The head belonged to an old lady. A real estate agent had been after this old lady to sell her property to him. She kept refusing. So, obviously, he escalated the matter. Anyway flashback to 1983, this same dude was the real estate agent for my folks when they sold their house. I met the man on several occasions. Marshall Carraway was his name.
  3. Not sure if many people get who you are talking about, but I do.
  4. I picked up the guitar in 2015. I started out with online courses - another vote for justinguitar - and noticed I was probably picking up some bad habits so I took some private lessons for over a year. I have also picked up the bass and I play (was playing) a couple of times a month with the church praise band. Several things have happened while just playing the bass... I have a better command of the fret board as well as a better understanding of music theory regarding major and minor scales and chord progression and transition(walking up and down). As far as guitar playing is concerned, I have no idea where to focus right now. I want to build my song list, build up my lead chops, learn finger picking methods, build rhythm techniques and strumming... I am thinking I might just go hang out on justinguitar again and plow threw lesson plans and songs.
  5. I do recall the pawn shop now that you mention it.
  6. That building was originally a jewelry store or it sold jewelry among other items. I worked as a bar back at Mr. B's for brief time in the mid 80s myself. Couldn't remember a soul that I worked with though.
  7. I was getting my haircut the other day and there was a lull and the stylist started talking about Netflix shows. This one came up. I remember watching it when it first came out and I don't remember anything that struck me as anything I was not already aware of when all of this was sorted out. Probably my main gripe, a small one, was how they portrayed Jack Harwell the McLennan County Sheriff. He always wore his stetson tilted to the side along with a tan leather jacket. You can see him in some clips with that Henry Lee Lucas bio pic that Netflix did. He seemed larger than life if you ever met him. The main thing I remember was watching all of this unfold in real time about 15 minutes away from where I lived. It was about 2-3 miles away from my parents house. Another side to this is I knew other local law enforcement officers that were in contact with the Davidians the day of the raid. Firefighters that were on scene the last day. And finally, 4 people I had met in a laundromat back in 87, including Vernon Howell. Apologies if I have l brought this up before.
  8. It was pretty great when it first started. I remember it being a premium service. You made sure you had a circle of friends that had it if your folks didn't. Also, it made for a cheap date if your girlfriend had it - MTV that is.
  9. Tell him to hit with some weed and feed and water the hell out of it. That will get rid of it.
  10. Wow. Some talented kids there. I know Lehman High School here in Kyle has a Mariachi group\band.
  11. I remember following Erxleben, Little from Arkansas and Franklin from A&M. They were all trying to outdo one another. Back then, if you missed the field goal and it ended up in or through the end zone, the opposing team got the ball back on their own 20 just like a touch-back.
  12. Quick, fun watch. Need to pick up the books. Any one else pick up on the fact the actor playing the captain was one of the main kids from Porky's?
  13. I would offer only this bit of advice if you are going to be boiling peppers. Make sure your vent hood is running and\or have a respirator handy.
  14. I don't think it is legal to use a fullback anymore.
  15. This is what we are doing at my church. I played this past weekend. Just band, pastor and skeleton tech teams for Facebook live. Still had a couple of old folks show up anyway.
  16. My head looks like a west Texas municipal golf course in August. I could never shave it. People would rather have me sneeze on them than subject them to seeing my dome.
  17. Got to go to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons with my granddaughters this past summer. It snowed while we were there and it really added to the experience. Granddaughters got to have a snow ball fight in June. I will treasure that experience the rest of my life. Also made it to the top of Haleakala a few months later. It was coooold and beautiful in a other worldly sort of way as mdmost mentioned.
  18. Gas, tolls, wife's lunch bills (she works downtown in law office)), down to eating out\drive thru two times a week. I have had to spend a little extra money on setting up a home office for the Mrs.
  19. This. Back in the day my grandma would buy these frozen packs of bread dough (maybe frozen maybe not). She would let it sit for a few hours\a day and then bake it. I circled that oven with a butter knife in one hand a large tub of margarine in other. Best stuff ever. If I had to choose one source of food to live on the rest of my life, it would be bread and butter.
  20. Went to Hays City Store yesterday for curbside. Actually had to wait for a little bit. Spoke to one of the managers and said everyone that has been there this week has been very generous with their gratuities. The vibe was that they were managing OK. They are delivering mixed drinks, btw. On a side note, as we were waiting, a super car club was making its way from Driftwood to Wimberley 20-30 cars. When I got back towards my house, I saw 1/2 dozen cyclists.
  21. Daughter and her Fiance just went to an HEB close by. They got most of what they wanted for food. No TP though. No pics of groceries or daughter.
