I saw that Shoepf's in Belton made the TX Mo next-100 honorable mention list. Their Q is significantly better than Miller's which is still getting unjustly fluffed as a top 50 joint, where people go to get breakfast foo foo deserts and coffee. They scuttled their traditional wood burners a few years ago and went electric, tourists still flock in like pigeons, while Schoepf's crowd is modest to light. Expensive, but their food is dang good again, like the way early days, plus adding some nice specialty items. They also had their time of being not real good a ways back, but they revamped their methods in the last few years and they are doing it right. I just can't afford to eat there very often.
I helped Miller's get on the map back in the day, but their notoriety after the move to the newer building success turned them into a tourist trap. Food is still pretty good, but it's a shame they threw away some of the best in Texas.
