  1. Rico Dowdle signing with Carolina, one year 6.25M. Hmmm...
  2. I agree it's not a good trade at all. He may be a marginal starter or decent backup, but I hate giving up two picks. They are really thinning their draft capital. They shit away their fourth rounder which could have brought a guard, LB or RB that could be an important contributor. So their three 5th round picks were sort of the luxury they had to maneuver to make a small move to get a falling player they really want. Now they don't have that, so they probably end up drafting practice squad guys with those picks instead. They just seem to really not want to sign anyone that might cost them a comp pick, then they shit away the comp picks on bullshit without much upside. Murray may be a good trade, but not as much when it adds to the 2025 draft numbers attrition. If he ends up being a great fit they're going to end up losing him again in free agency or end up paying him too much on a longer deal. I like some of the stuff they did, but they're getting way too fucking cute.
  3. Hate to see Lawrence go but he's too much of an injury and potential decline risk to pay that kind of money at this point. But it leaves a decent void there. Murray is a good player, should be an important part of the D. I like them getting experienced guys, but it is getting a little ridiculous with the early draft busts. Worse that they are spending some picks in this draft for players with only a year or two left on their contracts. They seem really dedicated to getting the most comp picks. That can be OK if they are really good with 5th and 6th round picks, but they really aren't good bets. You would like to have those picks to use to move up to grab a targeted player in the draft in the mid rounds that should have gone higher.
  4. Could be the most successful fan outreach tactic ever, other than winning a World Series a couple of years ago.
  5. They need to get a better capologist than Jerry's kid. At least he saved us from Johnny Football.
  6. I'm not terribly opposed to their direction in free agency so far. They are very unlikely to make a blockbuster move that would take up another massive contract. They are shoring up depth guys that can challenge as potential starters, and they are getting younger. We all like to dream about getting a known big-time player, but that probably isn't the greatest a plan with a team like the Cowboys stage with a lot of holes to fill. They still could ad a guy you've heard of that's pretty good to generate a bit of excitement. They seem to love former high drafted picks that were disappointing, but not un-useful. They picked up younger guys with starting experience and some versatility in the trenches, that may still have upside. I like the philosophy there. I think there are some differences in what types of players the new coaches prefer in letting some FAs leave. Keeping both Osa and Gholston was improbable, but they kept the best one. I think they want a different type of player in the DT mix. There are quite a few bigs out there that have been somewhat surprising cuts after some teams have already addressed positions, where the Cowboys might be more tempted at perhaps a better number. I think the Cowboys will sign a WR, but probably after the dust starts to settle and find a better value for a guy that will be a good addition for a couple of years while they break in some new talent. I wish they hadn't been in a hurry to re-sign Turpin, really a luxury player who rarely makes much of a difference other than a couple of plays a year. I would rather have seen another team bite on the 2nd round compensation, which was a longshot anyway. At best, he may be good trade bait before the deadline if they season stinks. I'd rather have the pick and younger talent on a rookie contract than an inconsistent aging part-timer that occasionally has a splash play. There's still a big chunk of free agency left. I'd rather get a few good players than one shiny big money star that's probably going to go to waste on this Cowboys team that doesn't seem that close to being a legit contender, but maybe could be another year from now if we're really lucky. They will probably take a RB in the top 3 rounds. I'm looking forward to getting something good with pick 12. Then we'll see how it feels.
  7. The amount of big uglies shuffling in this FA period seems fairly unprecedented. Salaries continue to be increasingly cray.
  8. It wouldn't bother me too much if they don't retain Dowdle. Good back, but a lot of his success is due to opponents having zero respect for the Cowboys rushing attack, especially after Dak went down. Dallas run more in the second half because it was there to be had. He's not a legit number one. Let him weigh offers and see if he can get way overpaid. There should be a running back with far more talent taken in the 3rd round or so, maybe even one of the 5s, in a pretty deep group. Still some better FAs out there as well if they need to go there after the draft.
  9. Cowboys just signed RB Javonte Williams. Not exactly what I was hoping for. He seems to have declined the last couple of years, but still young and pretty cheap. Maybe it's a better scheme fit or something. At least they have another RB on the roster who has done "something" before. Reportedly one year, 3 mil. Hopefully not guaranteed money if he sucks in preseason. Worth a flier, though.
  10. Some decent DL rotation or potential short term starter guys available, mostly affordable guys, seems like a direction Dallas should go before the draft. So they probably won't. The DL is huge to the new defensive philosophy. A 3-down type LB would be nice, too.
  11. Chick will probably be partying up in the VIP box with Taylor Swift.
  12. Just out.
  13. Browns fixin' to get a new receiver.
  14. Any games yet scheduled on the cable/satellite channel? I still haven't found a 677 on Directv. At least a test pattern would be nice so I can add it to my favorites.
  15. I'm getting this inkling that the Raiders might pull off a big trade for DK, give him a nice contract extension, and sign Darnold to start at qb. Pete ain't got no time to mess around.
  16. It's hard for me to think of Tomlin and Shedeur together. And I don't think it would pay quick dividends, and Tomlin has been without a decent qb for so long, he ain't got time for that shit.
  17. Dak restructures his contract to take another 37M off the current cap. I'm guessing an offer to DLaw might be up next, if they can get him back at a decent number. He seems to want to stick around a couple more years.
  18. Sanders will be a wild card. I could potentially see him dropping into the second round if teams just don't want to deal with the ego and the circus around him. But it only takes one dumbass team to pull the trigger. Jets and Browns are on the clock. I don't even think Jerry is in a position to take a whiff like that, but you never know.
  19. Sure, it could blow up in the Cowboys' faces, as we have seen before. But he's at market value, in his prime on an upward swing. A 3rd round pick working out well is always good. He may end up being even better in the new defense. But of course the Cowboys curse could always take over. It frees the Cowboys from having to sign another starting DL to replace him and focus on another need, so at least there's that. Cowboys freed up some cap space with restructures.
  20. A positive development for sure. https://x.com/RapSheet/status/1896969055472640015
  21. Just saw on the guide that Rangers are playing the Cubs on MLB channel at 7 tonight, in just a few minutes.
  22. Great lineup of war movies tonight on TCM. Sgt York staring now. An Officer and a Gentlemen The Best Years Of Our Lives The Story of GI Joe
  23. That would be the aggylandic Ocean.
  24. Awesome! Looks like I'll be gettin' me a Superbowl ring!
  25. I'll take the knob that doesn't fall off after the third flip. But the Mr. Peanut looking one is goofy AF.
