  1. In 2011, we were jumping for joy for Tropical Storm Don to provide relief. And then this happened Tropical Storm Don was the first tropical cyclone to make landfall in the United States during the 2011 season. The fourth named storm of the 2011 Atlantic hurricane season, Tropical Storm Don formed from an area of low pressure along a tropical wave, Don developed into a tropical depression on July 27, and on that same day, was upgraded to tropical storm intensity, based on data from a reconnaissance aircraft noted the presence of tropical-storm-force winds. It tracked across the Gulf of Mexico and reached a peak intensity of 50 mph (85 km/h) before moving ashore in Texas on July 30 as a tropical depression, dissipating shortly afterwards. Initially, Don was expected to provide relief to the state, which was suffering from a major drought. However, the system dissipated rapidly just before making landfall, providing very little in the way of help to the state; rainfall totals were less than 1 in (25 mm). The local and national weather guys were freaking out because this was rare for our part of the world. It happens on the Arabian Peninsula and Australia from time to time, but not the North American coast. And if I recall that day it made landfall, it was probably the hottest day in that blast furnace of a summer. But the drought was much, much worse that led to the storm falling apart as it land on the King Ranch.
  2. At least we are not Florida. That state is a clusterfuck in regards to roofs and insurance.
  3. Decent. I've made better, but these will do for convivence and time.
  4. This is why the comparison to Chernobyl is real.
  5. Was that a morning practice or scrimmage? Then most home stands will be facing the east and the sun. Most games are played in the evening and the sun will be blasting visitors side if it faces west until October when usually the majority of the game is played without the sun still being up if at all.
  6. Report: TexasA&M OC Booby Petrino spotted riding a motorcycle with an A&M Student. https://www.secrant.com/rant/sec-football/report-texas-aandm-oc-bobby-petrino-spotted-riding-motorcycle-with-aandm-student/109283280/
  7. He should go into business with Brian Bosworth.
  8. So we get blamed for Dr Alonzo’s issues at aggy……. Nice! He forgot to blame the Longhorn Network and TU greed and how we destroy conferences.
  9. Grabbed these today. Fifteen minutes in the Air Fryer and had Steak and Fries for dinner.
  10. Some on here might call me “right winger”, but I love trees, wildlife, and clean Hill Country Rivers and Streams and hate development without considering these key things. There is zero reason this tree couldn’t have been utilized in this development. True this was out of reach of city ordinance, but developers who have to deal with tree ordinances of one sort or another seem to adjust. A smart developer firm would’ve seen that tree and made it a focal point for the whole development. Period. Down here Rockport has done a good job with preserving the natural trees and it forced developers to get creative.
  11. I’m surprised he didn’t blame the Longhorn Network.
  12. These two clips are all that one needs to understand our disdain for the Rig 12 Refs.
  13. The league COO is a KState guy. That’s why that game is on my watch list for the screw job. Especially if we are undefeated or in the top ten and in a good position to claim a playoff spot.
  14. Let’s not forget the chit that went on against Okie State last year. They ended the game with zero penalties while we had 14 for 119 yards. How does a team that throws for 400 yards not get called for a hold or two? That’s some strange chit.
  15. Yep.. all that practice in the swamp water in Baton Rouge obviously didn’t prepare them for that.
  16. Forfeit a little much. Lol. But getting in their ears and staying in it from the Rice game until Tech would be preferable. And go ahead and call it what it is in pregame or weekly press conference and pay the damn fine if the Commish issues a fine. Surly and a few others might chip in and help pay it if Sark is winning games this fall.
  17. Almost time to revive this thread again. We better have lube bought by the bulk. It’s going to be screw job from the get go this year. Me thinks the KState game might be the game we see the most BS from the Rig 12 Refs.
  18. Yep. And Mayberry was another small South Texas town kid from Floresville. Not in the RGV, but still part of the whole region that historically gets overlooked.
  19. Robert Garza is probably the most recent overlooked product from the RGV via Rio Hondo. He went to TAMUK up the road and got drafted in the 4th round by the Falcons, but probably had the most impact on the Bears. He was one of those who should’ve been on an FCS roster. UTRGV when it was Pan Am back in the day had no problem recruiting talent to come play down there for basketball and baseball. They had some pretty darn good teams in the 1970s and 80s especially on the diamond. It wouldn’t shock me if they exceed expectations.
  20. My Grandfather was a Greek immigrant who joined the US Army at the Age of 17 during the WWI era and later worked the shipyards in Aransas Pass as a young man. Met my Grandmother to be and moved south to what is now north McAllen and became a successful farmer. Didn’t have one hour of Ag education from a college much less a college degree. He did raise one daughter (My Mom) who went to UT and a son who went to A&M, so he was .500 there. Lol.
