  1. Haha, fuck, I forgot to add a witty comment about that. Bourbon, you bastard!
  2. Can't recall the last movie I wanted to go back and see again, but this hits the mark. The only open seats anywhere within a thousand miles were for a basic showing with sub titles; didn't bother me or the family but I now want to see it with the full Imax/Dolby seat shaking version. Had a day to process why it was so anxiety inducing and a full on blast. For me it's when the pilots are in the plane doing what they do, and the camera has a a close up breathing into their mask with FULL ON ADRENALINE, eyes wide as hell, yelling into their comms, while mountains and trees are flying past at low altitude. JFC that detail, their ability to focus (I know it's fucking fiction, but I forgot) on the task without shitting their pants, was finomenil. Slower parts were fine, didn't feel slow, just feeding into the bigger story quite well. Interesting to see how this plays out during award season.
  3. I know you’re fucking with everyone, and it’s somewhat entertaining, but usually disappointing. Granted, there’s alot of hypobele in some posts you’re fucking with, but you come across as too intelligently humorous to ignore the macro movement of the Republican Party. You’re micro examples make you seem obtuse to a bigger picture that is obvious to anyone with a reasonably discerning brain. People are worried about a macro shift in this country toward something that is undemocratic and unconstitutional. Because that doesn’t resonate in your small profile of American life doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. But hey, you do you.
  4. Chris Cornell died 5 years ago today.
  5. I'll echo above. It's so detailed and complicated and disturbing. Never seen anything like it before or since. When Russ gives the grieving, arrested mother his line - fuck me, the show held back nothing.
  6. I watched the first couple of episodes and lost interest. Nothing else to watch so revisited hoping for better. It did. It’s weird as shit but I’m growing more intrigued, especially with the Royal confession. I assume the bear and bison are characters that have somehow been reincarnated as animals? Don’t know how else to explain that. Only question is how do Autumn and Amy exist in the same time? So if Autumn runs into her at the ranch just say sup? Josh Brolin is made for this. He’s a great fucking Western actor.
  7. When it came out seemed like an odd mash up of genre and actor, so I passed. Caught it last night streaming. Much better than I expected. Ridiculous, over the top, completely implausible, but entertaining as hell.
  8. Whenever I'm downtown I never miss a chance to eat at Phillipe's French Dip. https://www.philippes.com Definition of old school (1908). Your kids should also enjoy it. (It gets very busy during prime weekday lunch hour.) If you hit the coast (which you should), definitely go to Paradise Cove. https://www.paradisecovemalibu.com
  9. Haha, actually he had every reason so to be a dick. I'm 0 for 2 in this thread, I needed a little nudge to exit stage left before I strike out.
  10. Roger, I think I'll hang up on this thread and just listen from here out.
  11. That’s my McLaren thinking, but what’s his? Fucker is too happy go lucky on the surface, but you don’t get to where he is without serious competitive DNA. I hope he stays and kicks ass, but I don’t know. Probably why I like him.
  12. Not mine; why are you digging the hole?
  13. This bums me out. I’m a big DR fan but I honestly don’t know what to think about his future. He said in the Vegas clip about 2023 “now I won’t retire”. Not sure if that was a joke or real talk. You guys are way more dialed in driver’s careers, their decisions, but I’m fascinated with how he handles the adversity. Does he improve and stay? Say fuck it I have enough money and don’t want to be shown up by a 21 year old kid? Hoping for former. The rest of the season will be telling. You have Vettel and Alonso out there still competing but with middle of the pack teams. If things don’t improve wonder if he’ll choose this route or just take time off then become everyone’s favorite TV color commentator.
  14. That was pretty powerful back and forth with Spence and Kareem. Those dudes acted their asses off.
  15. It will go by in the blink of an eye.
  16. I'm really enjoying this show. Did Paramount just not bother marketing it? The only thing I've seen is a billboard that was so bland I didn't give it a second thought. Only reason I watched the show was because of this thread. csb/ I was invited to a party at Evans' Beverly Hills house a year or so after The Kid Stays in the Picture. Buddy of mine worked for Sirius and they had just given him some kind of radio show, so they threw a party. When we were walking up to the front door Jack Nicholson walked out and lit a cigarette. He looked up and said "Fucking rain" (just started sprinkling) then flicked his cigarette and walked right back in behind us. It was cool poking around the house I saw in the movie. Evans was swarmed with people so never got to speak to him, unforunately. Only odd thing I recall was Dick Van Patten giving the primary speech about Evans, how great he is, yadda yadda. I thought, Could there be a more polar opposite personality to Evans, the dad from Eight is Enough? Apparently they've been very close friends for some time. Go figure. /csb
  17. Nope. 2.75 on a 15 year fixed. Nine years in, monthly principal 85%, interest 15% I feel bad for people having to deal with this market, it's brutally expensive. Very fortunate I had a buddy hook us up with JP Morgan Private Mortgage when we closed this bad boy REFI way back when. I've lived through really high interest rates, and when I saw that 2.75, I said fuck it, we're paying more for a 15 and getting rid of this mortgage before we retire.
  18. I've always really liked this Thin Lizzy song But this one is my favorite. I saw it live on the Born in the USA tour and the crowd went nuts when Clarence let it fly
  19. Petersen is fantastic but realistically it will be at most a 2 hour visit . They have a private tour of the cars in the garage that aren’t on the floor that would extend this. Haven’t done it (yet) but I’m pretty sure it needs an advanced reservation. I like the cut of your jib sir, instilling priorities on a family vacation to SoCal.
  20. Just did a rewatch. They spent some time with Gus adjusting his ankle pistol holder. He’s anal as shit so maybe just reinforces that trait. Or maybe, just spitballing, the writers are a fan of Chekhov.
  21. Goddamnit. That asshole said it was real. That's one fucking realistic video game, graphics have gotten better since the last time I played Galaga.
  22. Not sure what’s more amusing, SO2 calling someone a stupid motherfucker or someone mistaking him for Derka.
  23. Reading is incredibly important, IMO, in getting the brain working hard, flexing its muscle so to speak, for whatever you want to do in life. I'm no expert, but I do know the phase of hard core reading I did as a kid when I wasn't particularly popular, helped offset the hookers and blow I did when I grew into the intellectual stud I am today. Seriously I harp on that with my kids a lot. Read, read, read, find whatever you're interested in, try some fiction, non fiction whatever. You have to use your imagination instead of having it driven into your brain by images. And the way a sentence reads should be balanced against normal conversation, what flows, what seems stilted and unnecessary.
