1. Madden is our best pitcher. He’s the closest thing to a consistent SO guy we have on the team. His velocity stamina is elite and that plays a big role in his projection to the bigs, as well. Some people are projecting him as fools gold which isn’t the case at all. There’s dudes in bigs that make millions with only two pitches. Maddens problem these past couple of starts is he feels he can just over power the hitters rather than just hitting his spots. 95mph on the corner is completely different than 95mph cock shot. His zone work has been the issue, opponents know this. That’s not necessarily something he can fix quick but to say that can’t be our ace, which he obviously is, because of his issues with the zone is an overreaction.
2. I’ve never really understood how some people can get bent out of shape over the top 25 rankings in baseball. Baseball rankings mean absolute shit compared to other sports and their rankings. The top 10 teams in baseball can be interchangeable most of time, and this is especially true for the top 5. I could be underestimating the value of these rankings but that’s how I’ve always looked at them.
3. If a guy is going to come out of the pen to become a starter, Witt probably has the best chance next year imo. His pitch count has been up in the high 40s a couple times I believe and he’ll only get stronger in the offseason. It will be interesting how next year plays out with Nixon and Duplantier. Last year Duplantier was going to be our closer; he had 3 saves with a total of 8 relief appearances. If Witt has the ability to start next year I would put Nixon in Witts role that he has now and let Duplantier become our closer. Side note, Duplantier also had 2 starts at third last year, too.
4. Sir I don’t know if you know this but Kennedy is the *best* bunter in the nation. You can’t take him out of the lineup with with his elite skill set at the plate.

2021 NCAA Baseball

That defense is *chefs kiss*
6. That thread is full gold comments but this one was hilarious
Despite Baylor and TCU having more success last season, and Baylor being more successful over the past two seasons, Texas Tech is the premiere program in the state. It's more than just wins and losses. Tech first of all is set to lead the nation in tortillas thrown this year. That's big, and our fanbase is massive. We also just signed a multi million dollar deal with Misson tacos. Texas Tech plays on national TV each week, sometimes on ABC, which translates into a lot of eyeballs and TV ratings making them a national brand. Then there is battery throwing. We continue to dominate recruiting the best battery thrower rankings which validates what our program has become and shows that jerk students want to be here. I feel like recruiting is HUGE when it comes to the influence and footprint of a program, because it either validates or rejects what your program is. The fact that we are doing so well in recruiting PROVES that our program is a big one that the best want to be associated with. If Baylor and TCU were truly marquee programs they would be pulling in the state's top assholes. Baylor and TCU may have had 11 and 12 win seasons, conference titles, and played in a big bowl, but they aren't Texas Tech. They don't have the fanbase, they don't have the attendance, they don't play on the big networks and have the TV ratings and aren't big TV draws which makes them a regional brand at best. They also lack the recruiting pull that Tech has. I would compare it to the sun glasses. Texas Tech is the Ray Ban - a big brand. We always hear about how new glasses are "Ray Ban Killers" but never kill the Ray Bans. While these Ray Ban killers may be more impressive pieces of eye protection that are more powerful and functional, the Ray Bans still outsells them big time. Baylor and TCU are those Ray Ban killers. They may be better on the field, but in the big picture, adding in factors like attendance and recruiting and TV ratings, they don't stack up. Texas Tech is the brand name. I'd rather win 4 to 9 games every year and yet be tops in the nation in tortilla throwing, battery thrower recruiting, and national recognition, than win 11 games and have limited appeal. It's more about wins/losses, its about the program's footprint as a whole which is more than just wins and losses.
7. We all are interested in placing the best at the top 8 but the NCAA loves to pull bullshit moves. It’s what they do.
8. And I agree with the ecu sentiment but they got in as 1 seed in 2018 so it can happen if they win their conference tournament. I like your top 6 as well.
9. i dunno, that’s tough to have all three in there. They’re going to put at least 3 teams from the sec and 3 big12 teams wouldn’t leave wiggle room they like for a ECU or Norte Dame.
10. Breaks on that back knee and there’s nothing they can do.
11. Might make that pic my new one now
12. We won 2 of the 3 series from tech, tcu and okie st. Meaning 2/3 from tcu, 2/3 from okie st and 1/3 from tech. Series wins 2/3.
13. Was able to take 2/3 out of tcu, tech and okie st. That is an awesome result for this team and there should have been a sweep of tcu if we didn’t run ourselves out a W. They have grown a ton from this stretch of their schedule and are easily a top 5 team now. Can’t wait for the post season because Texas is going to drag their nuts on the competition en route to the WS! 🤘🏻
14. Well @kingkoopa6, at least grandma is going to see thunder thighs pitch.
15. If kstate was to pull one out against tcu and Texas is able to sweep wvu, that would mean there would be a tie for first place. Wouldn’t Texas win the tie breaker because we beat tcu in a series?
16. Please god get Faltine in for the 10th run so we can run rule these fuckers in the bottom of the 7th.
17. Tell your grandma there’s a good chance we may see thunder thighs close this one out.
18. But...but I was told this team couldn’t hit
19. If the catcher is a slightly above average framer of the pitch, they can easily fool this ump. The ump doesn’t see the ball well at all.
20. Zubia drinking that special stuff today
21. Nah it was just a well timed pitch out. They know Kennedy is aggressive on the bases, especially with two outs and Daly up to bat.
22. That’s the Cam we know, let’s go!!!
23. Zubia with an absolute bullet over the fence!
24. I’d give my left nut for Todd to be healthy right now. Hodo in left, Jersey Mike in center, Todd in right and not a bases loaded 2 out bunt in sight.
