  1. They wouldn't have done either, option C is they would have worked out a whole other sidestep deal or put in a short term extension of status quo. They would never have caved to the first and reasonable demand. They won't blow up the fillibuster, because if they did it would actually be game over for the minority party (GOP dies) starting in 2026 where the president would be too busy vetoing everything to do any executive orders. The entire point was Rs were put in an impossible position that highlighted everything that was happening is completely and totally their fault for governing like a bunch of fucking morons.
  2. For those that think Texas outdraws the comeback kid story of Diego Pavia and vandys quest for a national championship as underdogs is really kind of smoking some crazy crack. Hell, I'd rather watch that narrative than a 12th ranked longhorns squad who did nothing to deserve to be there outside of having potential. Texas outside of about 5, maybe 6 quarters of football this season has been excruciating to watch. It's not entertaining football. Vandy is entertaining as fuck, it's the right kind of sloppy where the team is doing well, but they just aren't good enough so Pavia is willing things to happen. The Texas vandy game was a great watch, Q4 ms state was a great watch, Q3/4 of OU was a good watch. Outside of that? It gets bad fast.
  3. To cause massive riots in the streets and a wholesale collapse of the government with no one able to ignore the realities that this is caused by a failed government that is completely controlled by a single party at the moment and that party is doing this on purpose. Large scale recall elections, impeachment, crashing of the stock market, enormous market disruption to the point of not being able to function. You know, stuff that happens in other democracies where the government has failed and the people actually give a shit. It won't. My sister was mad at her employer for her premiums going up. The blame is never ever going to be on the government because people don't understand the governments role in this. When the are forced to realize that the government actually is in control of all this stuff, they will maybe care a bit more on who the fuck is running the god damned government Why would they place blame on the government? Most people don't know about the shutdown.
  4. Its impossible to overstate how bad the Florida loss is when considering a second loss on top of it to make the playoffs on a resume. The only way to be sure is to win out and host a home playoff game.
  5. Yeah assume they played Rice and didn't blow them out game 1 of the season. Everything else is the same that's all that changes the entire season. The assumption is that Texas loses to Florida and Georgia and everyone else wins out including Texas at the expense of a doesn't matter at that point loss for TAMU. That's 8-0 bama, 7-1 Georgia (L to bama), 7-1 ole miss (L to georgia), 7-1 aggy (L to TEX), 5-2 Vandy (L to bama, TEX), 5-2 Texas (L to Georgia, FLORIDA), 4-3 Oklahoma (L to TEX, ole Miss, bama) If Oklahoma upsets bama, that only moves them ahead of Texas at 5-2 with only losses to TEX and ole miss and bama down behind aggy because of how tiebreaker works. Texas is the 5th best team with BOMC or the 6th best team (reality) in the SEC. Everyone else lost to good teams with heavily positive SEC records. Florida has an SEC win over... Texas and Mississippi state who just won their first conference game in years.
  6. Hemp issue is massive beyond dopers. The problem is that it was amplifying they were taking away healthcare with other obviously bad things they wanted as well. Now it's just back to the vacuum with no one paying attention. Yes. This.
  7. No, that one too. I've lost 60lbs since then though so no more shamu.
  8. 10-2 Texas with losses to Florida and Georgia when everyone else who is 10-2 in the league or 11-1 in the league has only lost to Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Texas Yeah dude Texas gets left out. Idk why this is so hard for you to understand. They aren't gonna make the CCG if they win out. That's how fucking competitive the top of the SEC is. The Florida loss keeps them out of the CCG. You need to reframe your argument. The Florida loss is the entire reason why playoffs are even in question.
  9. I'm saying the OSU game has no relevance at all in the playoff rankings or punishment for said rankings. The Florida loss is that bad.
  10. If they win out with a lone loss to Florida they are a lock and maybe even hosting a playoff game.
  11. They are not a lock with a loss to Florida and Georgia. They are a bubble team just like now.
  12. If they lose to Florida and Georgia why wouldn't you put OU in if they beat bama? Why would you bump ole miss? Why would you leave out TAMU even with a loss to Texas? Why wouldn't georgia make it? They lost to Alabama. Vandy would have an argument if they also didn't have their shit kicked in by Texas. 2 SEC loss Texas with 1 really bad loss to Florida when everyone else only lost to other playoff teams is fucking bad my dude.
  13. It would. It's a very very bad loss.
  14. My heat stroke last year.
  15. I know exactly no one that thinks the dems did the right thing. Moderates, conservatives, liberals, everyone I know thinks this was the wrong move both politically (even GOPers admit that they were fucked) and the wrong move morally (shut down could have been avoided altogether and now a bunch of shit is fucked up for no reason) Its legitimately the worst possible outcome for dems.
  16. #10 ranked Texas is being punished for losing to dogshit Florida. #1 Texas going to the swamp and losing to unranked Florida drops them and then beyond that they get leapfrogged by everyone else who has performed well. I don't think there's much of a difference in 8-1 Texas and 7-2 Texas from a ranking perspective maybe ahead of ND with only 1 loss, but still not ahead of TTU Georgia etc. Texas isn't being punished for OSU loss and if they drop 2 in the SEC they will be the first in with 2 losses.
  17. More like walk off grand slam while up 3.
  18. Maybe I'll change the motto to "Longhorn Gooning Club"
  19. Yeah, and I'm saying going to a bar with people like you sucks for me. You don't even want to get excited about the longhorns when there is a ton of hype. I want to watch with people who are very into it, as in that's the entire reason I want to go. I would go to every away game if my family situation would allow me to and its a non issue. Unfortunately I'm tied to shit like my wife scheduling my kids birthday party on the morning of November 15th when his birthday is the 19th and the Arkansas tailgate would have been a fine birthday party for him since he wanted a Longhorn football themed birthday anyway. There is a small sized contingent of people like me who are far outsized by people like you and that's fine.
  20. I'm buying a hauppauge! Wintv-duo USB tuner. Then setting up a PVR and hooking it up to my jellyfin instance so I can watch live TV anywhere I want. I'll be using this to re-stream in surly stream for those that don't want to do it all. That has Chromecast natively in the player.
  21. moving to football board for more visibilty.
  22. what the fuck? Are these non refundable?
  23. well written article, but it was a complete waste of journalistic time and his conclusion was "well gooning is basically just tiktok but with naked bitches and jerking off" We engage in a lot of the same "gooning" behavior here on surly, it's not unique to gen z or young males or incels or volcels or whatever the fuck this guy tried to make it all intellectually about. There also aren't many good stories that came out of it, but that's not from lack of effort of this guy, it's just not that fucking interesting or even degenerate. It's fucking weird out there right now, there's very little in person interaction and meeting people the way that everyone thinks about having made their close relationships on this board. Sure some of us may have some really good friends that we "met on the internet" or something, but not really. I think that if prostitution wasn't as vilified as it was and/or if there was a lot more regulation and less social stigma about it then people would probably get laid a whole lot more and be a lot more fucking normal about sexual relationships, but that's true about almost anything. Right now it's hard to do anything with a group of people even if those people have common interests. I went to Marlow last weekend to watch the Mizzou TAMU game, not because I'm some huge mizzou fan, but because I wanted to go somewhere where people actually gave a shit about the game and were actively engaged and willing to just talk to random people about it because god damnit they were at a bar watching the mizzou game of course they would love to talk about it. My wife was perplexed why I wanted to do that instead of go somewhere on south lamar much closer to the house, and I was like I don't wanna sit by myself at a bar with a bunch of people who aren't there to watch any games, but are just out to drink and talk to their friends and their friends only. That's what the scene is like at a lot of these places - people go out to have a beer or two with their friends over the course of 3 hours and a "game" the mildly care about and are just talking about other bullshit the whole time. They don't wanna meet new people, meet other fans for their team, talk about the game, none of that. That's a lot of words to say that people in general suck these days and these gooners are no different.
