  1. I might sound crazy, but hear me out... I'm happy with where this team is right now and I'm actually glad we lost to OU in that fashion. If we had come up with a defensive stop after our final field goal, most of our team, coaches, and fanbase would have come away from that game thinking we're a gutsy team that found a way to win at the end of a game where we didn't play our best. Of course there would still be concern about the mistakes that were made, but overall the mindset across the board would be positive and we'd be going into the bye week feeling confident and comfortable. Instead, we all came away from the game realizing there are some glaring areas where we HAVE to get better if we're going to win out and take the Big 12 title (pass rush, penalties, red zone offense, etc). I hate to sound like Mack Brown's "winning too much is bad for the kids", but in reality it's true that success is a terrible teacher. Instead of going through the bye week thinking we're good enough and can find a way to win no matter what; we're going to spend it focusing on those weaknesses and finding a way to get better. I'm predicting that the loss to OU is going to be a net positive for our season, and we're going to win out including the rematch in December.
  2. Well now I'm conflicted. Because I sure as hell don't want us to lose to Baylor, but I do kinda want to read poems about Jester West study lounge sex. Sounds hot.
  3. I hate to be that guy, but does anyone know any tricks to watching the game for free this weekend? Last year we had the Free Sling Trial loophole, but so far I haven’t found anything like that this year.
  4. One thing that's going to be required in order for us to be "back" is having a great quarterback AND great receivers. That means sometimes the QB will throw a perfect ball and make it easy on the receivers, and sometimes the WR will make an insane catch and make it easy for the QB. It's a good thing that we have both. Not a bad thing.
  5. SIAP, but I was at the game and noticed two things that made me smile. The first was the fact that Bama featured Marcell Dareus on field before kickoff. That was a total troll job by them, as Marcell was obviously the one that put Colt out of the National Championship game. The second was during the TV timeout after Bama took the lead for the first time, they played a hype/highlight video on the jumbo-trons. That video very clearly featured a close-up, slow-mo replay of the play that injured Quinn in last year's game. It was plain as day. Both pretty lame moves; especially the replay of the Quinn injury, but it just made it that much sweeter that we kicked their ass.
  6. I actually had a decent conversation with some Bama fans on Saturday about them doing the horns down. They asked me what I thought about it, and here is basically what I said to them "It doesn't make me mad that y'all do it. I just think it's pathetic. Honestly, I think I would be embarrassed by it if I was an Alabama fan. The horns down is a Texas A&M thing, and y'all are basically aligning yourselves with them by doing the horns down. At this point, y'all should hate A&M almost as much as we do, so copying their tradition is embarrassing." The guys I was talking to actually felt like that was a good point; and that was BEFORE we pushed their shit in. If we can keep up the level of dominance we showed on Saturday, I'd honestly be surprised to see so many other fanbases doing it. We know aggy will always do it, but I think fanbases with some sense will realize "we look stupid as shit doing this while they're fucking us up". We'll see.
  7. From the car on my way from Nashville to Tuscaloosa…. TEXAS!!
  8. I’m in section NN-4, which is upper deck.
  9. Yes, I got them at $249 each after taxes/fees.
  10. I bought mine through SeatGeek yesterday, and I had the mobile tickets on my app pretty much instantly.
  11. Just grabbed tickets in section NN-4, row 20.
  12. Just booked an AirBnB house in North Port for both nights; so I’m down for a Tuscaloosa welcome party, FWIW.
  13. I live in Nashville, so I personally can’t wait for the Vandy game.
  14. Ha, nope but we did actually get kicked out of a Tuscaloosa bar one year because she got in a fight with an LSU fan. Gotta remember, it just means more down there.
  15. I live in Nashville and my wife went to Bama, so I have been to several Bama home games over the last 11 years. We've stayed in Tuscaloosa a few times, and we've also stayed in Birmingham a few times. Both options have their pros and cons, and I'd say it really just boils down to what type of gameday experience you're looking for. Staying in Tuscaloosa: this is definitely the move if you're wanting to experience a full day of tailgating and then hit the bar scene after the game is over. I highly recommend this, because it's a blast. I would recommend getting there on Friday afternoon/evening and leaving on Sunday morning. Traffic in and out of Tuscaloosa is an absolute nightmare before and after the game, so it's best to just avoid that if you can. Staying in Birmingham: Birmingham obviously has a lot more places to stay; so it's an easier trip to book. There are several charter shuttle services that run from Birmingham to Tuscaloosa a few hours before the game, and then they bring you back shortly after the game. There are several available, and I'm honestly not sure which one is the best, but if you google Tuscaloosa gameday shuttles you will find plenty of options. It's pretty convenient because you don't have to worry about finding parking, and you also don't have to worry about having a sober driver. Some of the bus services even provide food on the way there and the way back; and they'll let you drink during the trip. We did one of these a few years ago and it was pretty fun. The downside to this options is you miss out on the tailgating and the post-game bar scene. If you want to stay in Birmingham and enjoy the full gameday experience, the best move is to drive over early in the morning to avoid pregame traffic, then tailgate all day, and then hit the bars for an hour or two after the game and let the traffic die down before driving back to Birmingham. The key there is just making sure someone in your group will be sober enough to drive you back; which is definitely going to be tricky after we beat them 35-17.
  16. This shit right here. If they really want to be on a winning team, they're going to have to get over this type of thing. On a smaller scale, I had to go through it when I swam for UT. Men's swimming only gets 9.5 scholarships to divide amongst the entire team, so full-rides weren't really a thing. Because of that, the scholarship guys on the team only had a partial scholarship which meant there was constant comparing of who had 75% vs who had 25% etc. As an upperclassman, you may be an established asset on the team and then find out an incoming guy is going to be on a bigger partial scholarship than you. The older guys had to be mature enough to realize "Hey, that kid is going to help our team win, so I'm glad we did what it took to get him here". I know this is nothing compared to the millions of NIL dollars floating around, but the concept is generally the same.
  17. Y'all are both morons. Jaylen Waddle is currently in the NFL, so it's literally impossible for us to get him. Besides, we don't have room for him with Kyler Murray already being a silent commit. smh.
  18. Too lazy to scroll back and see if this was discussed earlier in the thread, but in the first offensive drive or the game Quinn had blood all over his hand towel. On the second drive, he had a new clean towel but there was blood smeared on the side of his helmet near the ear hole; aka where you hold the helmet when putting it on. Leads me to believe the issue with the fingernail on his throwing hand is lingering . It’s painfully obvious this is the issue. This isn’t the same QB that threw for 150 in the first qtr against Bama and then lead us to 49-0. He doesn’t just suck all of a sudden. With that being said, I’m all for pulling him for Card.
  19. Why would anyone be trying to record the game? This isn’t 2005, the entire game will be on YouTube tomorrow.
  20. The crazier thing to me is how many Surly posters still have 0 clue how LHN works.
