  1. We used Allied Outdoor Solutions. They did our patio and entire backyard with a pool, turf, built in kitchen and putting green.

Their onsite teams were awesome, their inside team was annoying with incomplete answers but luckily the onsite people took care of the communication issues we had and handled it internally.

  2. Any recs on best tools/chemicals to clean tile and coping?

I assume pressure washer with light nozzle and maybe some oxy clean? Dont want to disturb ph balance to much.

Also any recs on any sealers or anything once clean? It’s not terribly dirty just want it to look brand new.

  3. *Terms and conditions subject to change in 90 days. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Several of our distributors have in their signatures “pricing is only as good as the time of quote. All prices subject to change at anytime”

I know several are updating pricing for copper wire by the hour. I can’t imagine the headaches they have for switch gear that has 52-64 week lead times as this stuff constantly changes while trying to shore up the rest of the electrical components needed for a building to maintain costs.

If you don’t have switch gear the rest of the equipment in the building doesn’t do you much good.

Lots of relationships being tested at the moment.

  4. What about Wendy? Windy City
Maybe Milly Bean... with just Milly for short? The Bean at Millennium Park?
There are females named Jordan, a small amount, but..
    Allie for Al Capone.

Wendy sets up for a deez nuts joke.

    “When deez nuts”

She seems to like Addison and responds. So we got that going for us.
  5. Hahaha we’re still working on a name before we finalize. Have until we get her to the vet to finalize.

I want a Tech tie or Chicago tie - it’s hard with a female dog. Payton after Walter is one. My wife likes Rory after his masters win.

Both those names give the same problem you mentioned lol.

  6. Wife and I are doing max contributions on everything we can, we had a couple trips in January where each trip came in a couple thousand under budget (my wife over budgets because we sometimes just say fuck it and go big) and both are getting bigger bonuses and commission checks bigger than budgeted for.

January has been a hot start to the year and got us significantly ahead of where we budgeted when we did our 2025 planning in early December.

We did a massive backyard renovation (pool, built in kitchen, etc) in 2023 and had a year to pay it off on our 1 year interest free construction loan.

We paid it off early and are still pretending we have that payment and saving that money as well. Reason we’re still “pretending” is to keep that aggressive savings to hit our target savings for 2025 earlier. We’ll probably keep this up to get a second place somewhere to escape the Texas heat in 2-3 years.

  7. Bears fan here.

Wife and I decided last minute to drive down from Dallas for the game earlier this afternoon. We’re staying at the Springhill by the stadium.

Plan is to go to Little Woodrow’s or Pluckers for the noon games and then head back to hotel and then walk over to the stadium.

From past experiences for Texas Tech games they’ve had beer stands, festivities, etc setup between NRG and I believe the Astrodome that we would normally go to after the Tech Alumni tailgate wrapped up. Does something similar to that setup happen on Texans game days?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  8. Turf as in fake grass? Round up won't do anything to plastic. Fire away.
Actual live grass requires knowing a couple of other things. What kind of weed? How long has the sod been down? What sort of turfgrass?
Pulling nutgrass can make it worse. Any latent tubers get a hormone signal to sprout leaves when a nearby stalk is pulled. Some stuff like prostrate spurge has a super fast life cycle. It can go from germination to producing seed in as few as 14 days. I still pull weeds, but I use pre-emergents and post emergents as needed.
I don't give a damn if it's 'organic' or 'chemical'. I want it to work. I'll use vinegar or glyphosate. I won't use corn gluten because it's a fucking waste of time and money.
Know your target and the environment it's in and you're halfway there.

Yup, artificial! Appreciate the quick response, most things said good to go but I’d then come across the random blog saying don’t do it. In retrospect, it was probably a more “do everything natural!” blog.
  9. Anyone have any recommendations for ways to kill weeds popping through newly installed turf?

It sounds like regular weed killer will do, but want to make sure before ruining the turf and putting green.

It’s nothing crazy, just here and there from the seeds and weeds that grew through the construction of the pool. I’ve been pulling the root best I can, but it’s hard as I don’t want to pull any of the turf itself.

  10. Finally took the keys over for our pool (will post pictures once landscape is done).

Chlorine levels are super high, but chalking it up to them shocking the shit out of it and having the chrloinator on full blast before handing over to me to maintain it.

My plan was to let it come down naturally (rain water, filling it with water and setting chlorinatior to min) over the next couple days. Especially since the pH is spot on. Am I wrong for this? As a kid, my mom spent so much time trying to add chemicals to balance out the other chemicals and it was a back and forth game. Where my dad would just end up draining half the pool and refill it when she’d go out of town and it would be spot on for months.

Another question is run times (rpm and schedules). I’m seeing several different things and they’re all conflicting. Any advice?

Any good recs on pool stores, where best to buy supplies, websites/message boards to follow? I live in Wylie for reference.
