When did they do away with that rule? (Setting it up where you wouldn’t play a conference opponent before elite 8 (unless the conference had more than 8 selected)

If you play a conference foe 3 times, you cant see them before the Elite 8. Twice you cant see them before the Sweet 16. Sometimes this can't be avoided due to the number of teams a conference may get in. With the Big 12 getting 4 teams in the top 4 lines, all 4 of those teams HAD to be in separate regions. The other 3 teams (ISU, WVU, and TCU) had to be in a region with another BIg 12 member and due to seeding it could be just about no where else to put them.

If you graduated from ku in 76, let me congratulate you on being anywhere.

Ha, no I was born in 76. I did not graduate from KU though most of my family has. My family moved down to Houston when I started HS and I was not paying out of state tuition to go to KU. Been a fan since I was old enough to talk though.

Be warned, I think a standard cocktail is $18. Prior to national anthem, there's a "happy hour" where Bud LIght is $5 and Love Street is $6.  After that beer ranges from $9 for Bud to $18 for certain craft beer.

Hell I dont care. Wife got the tickets and hotel on her dime for my Christmas gift. I'll pay for the overpriced alcohol. The fact that they have Love Street pleases me though.

Lollll. Imagine asking this question about the Moody Center.

Not trying to be a dick, but it is like the place was designed first and foremost to sell booze.

That's fine. I've never even looked up what it looks like. I like booze so win or lose I will have a good time.

  5. Figured I'd ask here in the Texas basketball thread instead of the Big 12 thread. Wife got me tickets to the KU game in Austin this year. Been to the old arena before but pretty excited about the new arena. Do they sell beer/whiskey?

You guys might just be in luck, I have never witnessed KU win a game in the state of Texas in person.

I mean back in 2017 I was legitimately concerned about winning the series especially when the Astros lost all 3 in the Bronx but then they just flat mudholed the MFY in the last 2 and the complex began.  Then of course 2019 happened and Altuve went full soul reaver mode to crush them all over again.  Now they are just flat out broken bitches it's quite sad to see how pathetic they can get to justify their futility.  If they don't win tomorrow for Cole's start it's going to be amazing the shit we see.

This started with Keuchal in 2015 though. That playoff game in Yankee stadium and Dallas just absolutely dominated them.

Don't get ahead of the juggernaut, they are 3.5 home dogs to Iowa St this week.
Gonna need some luck and good juju to keep this dream alive and stop it from becoming a tragic comedy (which is what is playing out in East Lansing, fwiw)

Naw, this season already a success. There was a thread on phog before the season started that was titled "What are the odds we start 4-0". Folks in there were giving single digit odds....low single digit odds. KU already beat WVU and Houston on the road and that was a pipe dream for us fans less than a month ago.

Now we set our sights on a bowl game, to dream the impossible in year 2 of the build. Even if we do not win a single game from here on out we were all just hoping to get to 3ish wins and be competitive in most if not all the games and look like a damn football team out there. Mission so far accomplished.

  8. What's the story on Ewers? When is he expected back? Someone in the thread mentioned that the attitude is just different with Ewers out there, and I would agree with that. Your leader on the field is missing and this causes even the defense to buckle up and get stops.

If Ewers is coming back soonish, you guys will recover.

When was the last time KU was favored in a P5 matchup? (Or does it happen more than I think?)

Pretty sure we were favored against Rutgers initially but by game time was a pick em. I thought I read that on the phog. Beyond that it was probably in 2009.
