  1. I was ready to burn down my closest Chase branch last week. Sent a $395 payment via Zelle on the Chase website. Start getting calls from a random number - not the number I already have saved for Chase, because I have unknown callers silenced. They leave a message that it's Chase Fraud, so I call back. Ostensibly, they want to verify that I am making the payment on purpose, I wasn't scammed, etc. They couldn't have been a bigger pain in the ass. Asking me what the payment was for, so I tell them "fraternity alumni dues" which is exactly what is written in the notation of the transaction. What's that? What's that for? Motherfucker - it's clear that I sent it, and I don't need to bulletpoint what my fucking dues are. Denied. Try again later. Mind you - my whole account is also frozen now, not just the Zelle payment, which is not frozen, but cancelled altogether. Call back to try again. 1st security question asks what state my SSN card was issued - I'm an army brat and got my SSN at like 6 months...none of the provided state options are anywhere I lived. 3rd security question asks what color my 2014 Toyota 4Runner was - I have had 2 2014 Toyota 4Runners, in different colors. She tells me to pick one - wrong, apparently, so denied again. Was coming out of my fucking skin. Finally crack the code on the next call (different security questions), get the payment sent through, and immediately text the guy I was sending it to to cuss him out for making us use Zelle. Couple hours later I see him in the comments telling guys they can just Venmo him. *this close* to murder.

  4. I honestly have no sympathy for people complaining about hat prices at a race. You can buy the exact same hat for less than half that online. https://f1store.formula1.com/en/hats/d-19551120+z-9710312-1048507607
  5. That trophy is pretty tough.
  6. I hope when they visit those repercussions for Lando after the season, he clears his throat and brings today up as Defense Exhibit A.
  7. Got your Mainz boys coming to town next week, @Hayduke
  8. Nice little run we've got going lately. Early days, but 4 straight and 5 W in 6 matches isn't bad.
  9. It's about time T1 came through for us. Been a minute since we've had a good bang up at the beginning of the race.
  10. Had lunch at Ramen Tatsu-ya today on South Lamar, which isn't really the South Austin I was looking for, but they do have a location on South Congress near Stassney. It was delicious.
  11. Drop the kids off downtown and run the lake. 10 mile loop around Lady Bird Lake. Usually excellent scenery down there as well. https://www.austintexas.gov/department/ann-and-roy-butler-hike-and-bike-trail-and-boardwalk-lady-bird-lake https://www.austintexas.org/austin-insider-blog/post/austins-hike-bike-trail/

  16. Was there a couple of weeks ago for a semi-ish annual reunion of another Austin brewery long gone, but with connections to ABGB. Certainly agree that they're still making excellent beer and pizza. It's one of my favorite places in town to visit with friends, and I don't really get there often enough. The tables outside are all under tons of shade, and if it's just too damn hot, then the A/C inside is plenty cold. As there always is on those Sunday reunions of ours, a Texas band playing Texas music was on stage, and plenty of folks were using the dance floor as intended. As I write this, I'm a little stunned at how many good memories I have of the place, when it really hasn't been around a very long time, and I don't go there but maybe 2 or 3x a year. I loved that Mark told us all the plan long before it happened so we could follow along, and I remember how cool it was that Mike and the Austin Beerworks crew showed up on opening day with their benches so ABGB could open on time, because their benches hadn't arrived yet. That just struck me as so very Austin, in the best way possible, and hit me right in the heart.
