2025 Texas Coaching/Support Staff Thread
Sark should hire Brandon Jones from Mizzou as OL Coach. They always have a sick run game and he's a long-time Texan edit: actually, add their RB coach Curtis Luper too (another Texan). And maybe the OC. Just import their whole run game. Do it now while Drink is flirting with other jobs.

Any assessment of Sark, like any coach, needs to go beyond 1 year. That's why I am confused. The previous two years, the team was physical, disciplined enough, and guys were improving leaps and bounds on an individual basis. This year it all seems to be gone. Why is that and can Sark revert things back to before? Not that those teams were perfect but you certainly wouldn't trade Sark for anyone else at that point.

What did he say in the rant? Link?

Hey PK -- What would you say you do here?
Did Lance Jackson play yesterday? Didn't notice him out there.

2026 NFL Draft way too early thread of idiot mock drafts and discussion
For Texas, Goosby and Jelani are the big TBD NFL decisions this offseason. Maybe Kanu. Would be huge if they stay. I don't think DeAndre Moore gets a good enough grade. Hill and MM gone.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - Helobious Is Getting Those Wrists Ready For Heavy Work
A lot can change between now and then but as of now my priority ranking would probably be: 1. iOL #1 2. iOL #2 3. iOL #3 4/5. 1 S and 1 CB (not sure which higher) 6. RB 7. LB 8. DT The good news is that a lot of those should be less expensive positions. Positions like OT, DE, WR, and QB would be way tougher. Interesting read on the subject - College football 2025: How much does each position cost? - ESPN

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - Helobious Is Getting Those Wrists Ready For Heavy Work
OL is obviously priority #1. The secondary is the biggest unknown. A lot of young talent but very little proven success especially if Jelani goes pro. Littleton would be the only guy you can really trust as of now. Probably need a CB and a S to hedge your bets but hopefully Kade, Black, Roberson, Jonah, Filsaime, etc step up. RB would be nice but maybe not as critical imo. Wisner, CJ, Simon, and Cooper would be decent with a better OL. Probably need a depth LB behind Smith/Lefau. Very little experience behind them as it stands. Maybe Spence plays more LB. Might also want to go to the well again for a plugger DT like Brevard/Shaw/Norton/Lole.

Arch Manning: Scores every way possible
The question was whether the risk is higher tomorrow versus 2 weeks from now.
-
Arch Manning: Scores every way possible
If he clears protocol, does that mean zero extra risk of another concussion? Either way, I'm in the let him sit camp but doubly so if there is even an ounce of extra risk compared to waiting a couple weeks.

Arch Manning: Scores every way possible
Dumb if true. Let the kid heal through the bye week. Probably needs a break from these beatings anyway

Could this be the craziest coaching carousel of all time?
I assume this is a bs source but the guy has a lot of followers and it would be a random thing to make up. Would make sense though.

The Athletic Scoops Sark interested in NFL Jobs
I know a couple who were having a baby around the same time and they saw Sark at the hospital/doctor a few times. I don't remember specifics but I want to say Sark's baby may have indeed had some complications (possibly premature?). My memory is fuzzy and I never got a lot of details so please don't take that as fact, anyone. But point being, yeah he had a lot going on.

Oh I'm not saying Bama should want him gone. I think he's a damn good coach. But objectively speaking, that fanbase had turned on him already. Hilarious example: Alabama Fan Says She’d Use Powerball Winnings To Buy Out DeBoer - Yahoo Sports It's highly unlikely but I'm just wondering if he could be pissed at how he's been treated there and open to a move.

I don't think they're talking about the kid anymore. More about..uhh..reasons for missing 30 days in January. Things that may have plagued him at USC and UW perhaps... But idk, this thread is a confusing trainwreck. Probably time for nuking it.

2025 Texas Coaching/Support Staff Thread
Yeah he fucked up this offseason with this "NFL-style" experiment and not addressing the OL, but he crushed the two offseasons before that. If he is willing/able to admit the new approach failed, he can turn things around just by doing what he's already done. That's very different from hoping someone does something completely new. The only reason he'd be fired is if his personal life has truly spiraled to a point of no return, or if he insists on keeping everything the same (lax offseason schedule, weak portal effort, etc). No insight on the former. I highly doubt he'll leave the OL unaddressed again. I hope he's aware/humble enough to revert to the old offseason schedule but wouldn't be shocked either way.

I mean clearly he's had some shit go down in his personal life. Gossip aside, he did publicly announce a divorce and then end up with a new kid instead. Even if that's the full story, that's a lot to deal with (a new baby is a lot to deal with, period, lol).

What are the chances of someone convincing DeBoer to leave Bama? I assume things have smoothed over but definitely had a rocky start. Their fans were ready to oust him as recently as early this season. I wonder if he's happy there or could be lured away.

This. Unless there are "off-field" things that can't be stomached, he will get a chance to right the ship. As he should. He is one year removed from being widely considered a top 5 coach. This offseason was a cluster that burned this season (not addressing the OL, weakening the offseason practice schedule, etc), but he can revert back to his previous approach that worked well if he has the self-awareness to do so.

Kinda interesting - BetOnline has Jon Sumrall as the early favorite for LSU, followed by Joe Brady and then Kiffin. Brady seems like he prefers NFL but damn, how can you turn down one of these massive guaranteed college coach contracts especially at his age. He'd be set for life and could always go back to the NFL later. Speaking of NFL coordinators, I wonder if Todd Monken gets looks from anyone? He did well as OC at UGA and as HC at Southern Miss a while back

Could this be the craziest coaching carousel of all time?
The crazy thing about this carousel is the lack of proven candidates. Kiffin is basically the only guy who's done it at multiple schools and/or an extended period. You could argue Drinkwitz or Cignetti. Maybe Satterfield but he wasn't very good at Louisville. Who else - Fisch? Mullen? Sumrall? The other hot names, Key, Lea, Dillingham, have had 1 good year. Full stop. Joe Brady appears in a bunch of articles but he, like Kliff, is probably an NFL HC soon. Complete side note - Jeff Choate is 1-7 this year. Another one (unfortunately) on the hot seat.

Kiffin is gonna crush it at LSU or Florida. The dude has a stud offense everywhere he goes with whoever he plugs in at QB. Get him some top-tier talent on defense and watch out

Texas vs. Mississippi State - 3:15pm on SEC Network
Why do you think this is? I've thought the same this year (maybe January and Jelani have improved?). But the last couple years have seen guys with tons of improvement.

Question: Is this how any of y'all would talk about a player that fucked your wife? "He's a fantastic player," Sark said late Thursday night. "Matt showed everyone how fast he was with that 40 time, but his short area quickness, how he gets in and out of breaks makes him truly elite. He has extremely strong hands, makes contested catches, can do it at all three levels – whether it's the short game, the intermediate, the deep balls – and he's at his best in the most critical moments. You top that off with the blue-collar attitude he has, the fact that he's a great teammate who you can really count on day in and day out, that's what really separates him. He works, he's no nonsense, he's tough and does the dirty work blocking linebackers, safeties and event defensive ends. All in all, I think this guy is getting all that he deserves, and Green Bay is going to love him."
