  1. Good flick. I had no idea Roy Desoto was still alive.
  2. Seems like a good show so far. I did some background work on this show for a few days and was involved in the funeral scene and wake which was shot at the First Baptist Church North Tulsa on Greenwood back in May. Was really impressed with Sterlin Harjo. He actually spent time directing and chatting with extras. Very laidback guy who seems to really love what he does. During the reception scene, Harjo came up and told me to take my phone out and act like I was filming the confrontation. Of course, you’re not supposed to have a camera on set. But after a few takes, I decided - what the heck - and turned my phone on and filmed a few takes.
  3. You mentioned Lombok earlier......I spent some time there in 2011. Spent a few weeks laying around the Gili Islands located between Bali and Lombok. Absolutely loved it. The water was so clear, was like swimming in a bathtub. Really enjoyed snorkeling with the super chill turtles. Those things were huge. Lombok was okay but I think Mataram may have been the most boring/depressing dump of a town I've ever seen. Great beaches around the island though. Terrific surfing there if you're into that. The very first night I ever spent in Bali - when I was young and dumb and traveling solo - I downed a little too much of the mushrooms in Kuta. I got lost AT NIGHT and wandered around for 6 hours looking for my hotel. The whole area was a maze. Terrible night. Then when I found the hotel, it was one of those 'Eat, Pray, Love' looking places with gargoyles carved into the walls. I don't recommend doing that at all.
  4. I remember back in the good old backpacking days of the 1990's drinking at Bia Hoi for what seemed like nothing. I swear we had 26 beers one night for around $10. Granted.....it tasted like cardboard but still......
  5. Interesting topic. I currently live in the US and have been for ten years after living abroad for 18. Loved living overseas. Made many friends and had incredible experiences. Never really planned on permanently moving back to the US but stuff happens.......aging parents, relationship, cancer diagnosis, etc. I will say this, I love living in the US for the conveniences that Americans take for granted.....central A/C, having a car, owning a washer AND A DRYER, good healthcare, etc. Plus, I love sporting events, comedy clubs, National Parks, the food, museums here, etc. America is pretty cool. Having said that, I used to bump into Americans at parties or at the Embassy or whatever and some would say "I'm not moving back to the US as long as Clinton/Bush/Obama is president". I always thought that was dumb as why would you deny yourself a chance to live in a great country because of the Prez. Well, I've changed my tune. I wouldn't leave the US because of Trump but I would because of the people. Americans have changed in the last few years and it's not for the best. It breaks my heart to see what's become of the collective thinking of this nation. The people I knew overseas were just better people......and that's sad.
  6. Back in the 1970’s, my Uncle Ronnie had a Chevron station on the outskirts of Farmington, New Mexico. One quiet afternoon, a shiny car pulled up and from behind the wheel emerged a golden god. A man who resonated such excellence, you’d swear they had sculpted the Oscar statuette from his perfected features. He stepped inside the station and asked “Can I use your bathroom?” That man was Robert Redford…the award winning actor, the humanitarian, the Sundance Kid….and he REALLY needed to catch up on some reading. Ronnie handed over the bathroom key…..and the electric legend was off to see a man about a horse. Moments later, a relieved Redford returned to his car, climbed back behind the wheel and drove away on that lonely desert road towards those Hollywood Hills. From that day forward, whenever i saw this man give an Oscar-worthy performance, win a Golden Globe, receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, fight for Indigenous people’s rights, or simply look into the camera, I would think to myself…..”Wow! That guy let his caboose loose in my uncle’s bathroom”. God speed, Mr. Redford…..you sexy son-of-a-bitch.
  7. Thanks for sharing. I'm going through this exact situation right now in the early stages. Haven't received a phone call, e-mail, smoke signal, nothing from their insurance (Shelter) eight days after the accident. First time dealing with this so I'm actually surprised how slow they are.
  8. Do people find Longfellow funny? I saw him last summer at Dallas Comedy Club and didn't laugh at one thing he said. The Dallas-area warm up comedian was funnier. (Dez O'Neal)
  9. I made the mistake of taking an old Japanese bus from the 1980's from Yangon to Mandalay in 2006. No A/C, dirt roads, no bathrooms, just locals. Took about 16 hours overnight. Brutal. At one point, we pulled over in the middle of nowhere for a piss break. Couldn't see anything. Pitch dark. So I walk about 15 yards from the bus to take a leak. As I'm mid-stream, someone shined a light and I discovered I was surrounded by women all squatting mid-piss. The men were on the other side of the bus. I apparently stepped into the women's piss area. Who knew there was a system. I do remember a few locals there with blue, knock-off OU hats. Doubtful any Burmese actually followed OU football but who knows.
  10. Yeah, I've got the lowdown that that's not the official trailer.
  11. Back in January, I was shopping at the Love Me Two Times antique store in Tulsa not paying any attention at all to the guy standing next to me in the heavy coat and ballcap. Suddenly, a young lady approached from behind saying "Oh my God, can I have a picture with you??" Turned around to realize the guy to my left was Ethan Hawke. She asked him what he was doing in Tulsa and he said they were 'shooting a TV show'. So, I've been impatiently awaiting the release of this since. Donald Washberg for Governor!!!
  12. I always liked Chuck. He had such a great band. Guitarist Grant Geissman can flat out play. I think he was in his early twenties when he came up with that iconic solo on FSG. He pops in occasionally to Norman's Rare Guitars on youtube. I went to a music fest in Japan in the early 2000's and was waiting to see Wilco when the band Crazytown came on stage. I was not a fan of that band but was really surprised to see drummer James Bradley Jr playing with them. He was playing with Mangione when I saw them on January 20, 1980 at the Lloyd Noble in Norman (the same night as the Steelers/Rams Super Bowl). Talk about a varied career.
  13. Better clip. Might be the greatest celebration of Canadian culture ever recorded. Those two boys were trollied by the 15th hole.
  14. I've never played golf before but do Arnie Palmer shirts come with tiedowns? Solid garment there.
  15. Good to hear. We're getting a game 7, fellas. Should be fun. You guys have a great weekend.
  16. The amount of bitching in this thread. Jesus, do you guys even like watching basketball? Jeez.... Watch the games. Have a beer. Enjoy life.
  17. You have to admit, she's pretty sharp. I don't follow women's basketball as much as the other sports, but just about every message board I frequent has one thread specifically dedicated to her filled with white men that can't help but share an opinion of her. She certainly appears to be living rent free.
  18. Saw it today but I can't give it a positive review. Felt the same way about his recent films. I think Anderson might be losing me. I consider Life Aquatic one of my top ten favorites and have enjoyed The Darjeeling Limited on repeated viewings, but the last few have lost me. Anderson reminds me of an aging rock act that had several fantastic albums early in his career. But his albums in the past ten years or so were quickly deleted from my playlist after one spin.
  19. Yes. I do it sometimes just for the catering.
  20. Your dream might come true. They could pull off a Dallas Stars level choke job
  21. People in the middle US are insane. I had a British boss overseas that asked how long it would take to drive from my hometown (OKC) to a co-workers (Houston). I said it would only take about 7 hours. He said....'Bloody hell....that's London to Edinburgh....one end of the UK to the other." CSB
  22. Without a doubt Presti regrets that Harden deal but he's been fun to watch in the meantime. Sending an aging Serge Ibaka to Orlando for Oladipo and Sabonis? Then sending them to Indiana for Paul George? Then flipping him to LA for SGA, Gallinari and 5 first-rounders? You reckon Michael Winger regrets that trade? It's wild how much the Thunder catch so much hate when they're literally the blueprint for building a winning culture from the ground up. No super team (Presti tried that and failed with Russ, PG13 and Carmelo), no drama, just straight-up hard work, player development and unselfish basketball. The best defense in the NBA. 80 wins so far this year. Not bad.
  23. I still get a kick out of all of the Aussies online that rip OKC for trading Josh Giddy for Caruso. The spark this guy brings to that OKC team is amazing.
