  1. So this probably goes under the 'how is this the same actor' thread but whatever. Last week, I was an extra in the new series from Paramount called 'Tulsa King' with Sylvester Stallone. Basically, all I did was walk down a sidewalk while this guy parked his car. They did take after take. Anyway, the guy driving the car in the scene was some guy I heard never heard of or recognized. So I go home and do a little research and to my embarrassment and amazement, it was Max Casella. He played Benny Fazio in The Soprano's. Can't believe I've watched Soprano's a gillion times and had absolutely no clue who this guy was in real life. By the way, speaking of Casella, watched the movie 'Killing Them Softly' tonight. Not the best film but quite a few Soprano's alumni in that one including Gandolfini and Curatola. Might be worth a watch for the fans.
  2. Great to see Edmonton win. Another Hanifin turnover that did Calgary in......he should have opened a bakery, he gave the puck away so often. McDavid and Leo go against Big Nate and Makar in a best-of-7. What hockey fan wouldn't want to see that. If it gets to Avs/Bolts, THAT will the series for the ages. Besides the talent up front for both teams, someone (Makar) can finally offset the Bolts having Hedman on the blue line. It'll come down to goaltending in that series.
  3. Great game. Thank goodness Dallas got knocked off. Battle of Alberta is old time hockey
  4. What's the story on Dellandrea? Kid looks like he's got some hands and legit hockey sense.
  5. Don't take the loss so hard. Your Stars gave Calgary a heck of a series and shouldn't have even gone 7 but they played beyond their abilities this year. The better team won. None of these teams are going to beat Colorado anyway.
  6. Hate for Canada? Seriously? You guys need to visit the Great White North sometime in your life to understand how important this win is for Calgary. Battle of Alberta will be fantastic for the league. What are the Stars? Like 4th on the popularity pecking order in the metroplex? What percentage of Dallas citizens even know or care who won this game tonight? Great game though, eh.
  7. Battle of Alberta. Who knew Dallas goaltending would be this good.
  8. You mean the great Jamie Benn hasn't scored a geno in the post season?? I still can't believe the Stars landed Pavelski. What a great pick up for you guys.
  9. Quick shout out for Leafs fans........you only have to beat Tampa, Carolina, Florida and Colorado. Too bad we don't have Johnny Bower or Popcorn Palmateer in net.
  10. Is there a bigger waste of time in sports than a hockey player interview? cliche, cliche, cliche "Thanks, Jamie."
  11. Welcome of the new NHL. I'm actually surprised jerseys still have fight straps.
  12. Too bad the Rangers OT strategy of face scrubs and pops to the face didn't draw penalties. Refs not falling for it.
  13. Colorado speed is unreal. Preds look lost.
  14. Spoke to a good friend of mine who has been at the Yomiuri for twenty years. While ‘Tokyo Vice’ isn’t yet available in Japan, people are certainly talking about it. Mainly about how a lot of Adelstein’s claims you have to take with a huge grain of salt. Good article in the Hollywood Reporter pretty much calling him out on some of the silliness https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-features/tokyo-vice-problematic-source-material-1235135828/
  15. First time we've ever walked out of a movie theater without finishing a film. Needless to say, I've lost movie selection privileges for a while.
  16. KD? Is that you? Had no idea you were on here. Gotta develop some thicker skin, brother.
  17. On a personal note, does Durant have much of a life outside of basketball? He clearly loves the game seemingly more than some of his fellow elite level players. But does he do anything? Collect cars? Have a main chick? Hands on investment in businesses and non-profits? Seems like he's either playing ball or acting like a bitch on TV or social media. Comes across as kind of a lost soul.
  18. I thought it was very entertaining. Enjoyed Cage taking the piss at himself throughout the movie.
  19. Did Benn take that skate to the face? Hard to tell on the big screen at the arena but looked like he took a boot to the jaw. Jeesh.
  20. For the record, age of consent in Japan is 16. Google 'Enjo-kosai'.
  21. One noticeable error in this series is that it's set in 1999 but there hasn't been one high school girl on the streets of Tokyo wearing buffalo socks with their uniforms. Every girl in T-town had these on. Very disappointed in this technical mistake.
  22. Agreed. Everyone said Episode 3 was the best episode but it got rather slow. The Yakuza stuff is just standard, Hollywood Yakuza. At least they pronounce the word ‘yakuza’ correctly….something Hollywood routinely screws up. Less of the hostess girl and more of Watanabe.
  23. I'm two episodes in and totally digging it. I'm surprised though there's no love interest. Any good looking gaijin with blonde hair and that fluent in Nihongo is getting laid. I know several guys that worked with Adelstein at the Yomiuri but they were at the English paper. Looking forward to them watching it to get their takes. One thing about the Yakuza, I always found them to be kind of comical. Definitely not in the same category as the Russian mob. First Japanese girl I ever dated was the daughter of a Yakuza member. We dated for 4 years. Great chick, still keep in touch. Anyway, her dad ran a red-light district somewhere around Asakusa. She didn't care for her father at all. When she was a kid, he fell in love with one of his prostitutes. She recalls going to Ueno Park one day with her dad and some strange woman. He eventually left them for this chick. He was arrested a few years later and she testified in court against her dad at age 11. She only saw him sparingly after getting released. A few months after we started dating, she told me I had to have a sit down dinner with both of her divorced parents at the apartment. It's unusual to meet Japanese parents when you're only casually dating. He definitely wanted to meet this gaijin dating his daughter. Definitely a memorable dinner. He wasn't impressed. I worked briefly at a small English school in Asakusa, pretty heavy Yak area. All of our Japanese staff were women. One day, a couple of Yakuza fellas came in wanting to speak to the manager. They were put in one of the classrooms until the manager finally came in and introduced herself. They repeated their request to speak to the manager but she replied that she was in fact the manager. They told her that they didn't do business with women and that they would return later to speak to a man. A few days later, they came back to find the same manager and - again - said they would return to talk to a man. They never came back. Weird.
  24. Yep. Trust me, spend a winter in Walkerton or Flin Flon and you'll understand why Texas is so appealing.
