  1. Hossler's wikipedia entry is, uh, interesting. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beau_Hossler
  2. I passed it driving south on 35 about an hour ago, sitting on a flatbed trailer on the blocked off feeder road. There was some damage to the front near the propeller, but the rest of it looked pretty intact.
  3. there is no way the nutrition for AFA baseball is better than the nutrition for Texas baseball.
  4. thoughts on Dave Brock? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Brock_(American_football)
  5. to continue with the good vibes, about an hour before the game, when AF was starting to warm up, CJ Dornak was walking by the left field stands. He had thrown the last few innings in the afternoon game. There was a kid with a glove in the stands, so Dornak struck up a conversation and started playing catch with the kid. Soon, every kid with a glove made a beeline to the section and before long, Dornak was playing catch with about 10-15 kids. He was chatting them up and being real friendly. Some of the kids were trying to show off their arms and were absolutely gunning it at him point blank, and he just made jokes about how he was only a pitcher and not a fielder and was lucky to catch such fast throws. He kept at it for maybe 20 minutes or so. When he finally had to go he came up with some trivia question for the kids and the one who got it right got to keep the ball. As he walked off the adults in the section gave him a huge ovation, and you could see him get a little emotional. Stuff like this is why I love baseball. AF is a class act team.
  6. what a ridiculous call. Bails out a crappy throw. SCOTT!!!!
  7. I can't get past it. I'm usually pretty chill when it comes to announcers, but this guy is truly distractingly awful. Like, how in the world did you get this far without someone sitting you down and telling you straight up you have no future as an announcer. Is ESPN that hard up for announcers? Is he paying ESPN to be able to call this game? There has to be some kind of back story.
  8. Iakopo's string of tweets there is just a *chef's kiss* example of how soft and weak this team is (don't misunderstand me, the OSU writer without a doubt wrote a trash article). It will be very interesting to see what White does in the offseason and whether he can regain control.
  9. It was certainly different. I appreciated that. I thought the casting of America Chavez was a huge whiff. The opening scene was distractingly bad. I'm not saying you need to have D1 athleticism or anything to passably jump and dart in front of a green screen, but that actress was distractingly unathletic and uncoordinated. It reminded me of the actress who plays Samantha in Cobra Kai and kills any action scene she is in.
  10. Maybe some of it was hype, idk...but what I do know is there was a noticeable difference in accuracy and velocity on many throws after the thumb to the helmet incident. It was downplayed by the coaching staff and even Casey himself throughout the season, I wasnt paying attention to his gooner father or FCB. I can't be as candid as CTJ, but I cosign what he writes and will say, again, the thumb injury was not a significant issue.
  11. That was post blowU game where Casey's thumb was fucked up far more than anyone but he and the coaches knew...and turtle era Hudson Card. I could be wrong, but I think that thumb cost us at least 2-3 wins, defense or no defense. it's actually the opposite. Thompson's thumb injury has taken a life of its own in some spaces on this board and used to justify all kinds of excuses for Thompson's play - with a big assist through Charles Thompson's mouthpiece, Chip Brown. The thumb injury was not that severe, but was a useful crutch to for the Thompson crew to shift blame. QB play definitely cost the team wins, but that was because of a lack of talent/buy in more than a thumb injury.
  12. I don't think "ruthless" would be in the top 50 adjectives I think of when it comes to NoHo Hank. I love this show and the first two seasons bought a lot of trust and patience with me, but the start of the season has really fallen flat to me. It feels like the show has been written into a corner with nowhere to go. The main characters aren't really interacting. Fuchs is in the middle of nowhere. Barry and Sally have rarely been in the same place. Cousineau has spent the bulk of the time in the trunk of the car. The acting class - where so much humor was mined in the first two seasons - has dissolved. There just is not a whole lot of interaction happening with the main characters. There is only so far you can take the Barry holding Cousineau hostage subplot. Something is going to have to resolve, but it is hard seeing that happen and still having the show able to move forward. I appreciate the overarching theme of exploring forgiveness has been introduced, and I'm very much hoping the show can pull it all off.
