  1. That was some obvious sarcasm. Funny though.
  2. Thank God he finally decided to do this. Looking forward to President Harris in 2024!
  3. I remember reading about this more than a year ago. Deng is the man for doing almost all of this out of pocket for the land where he was born and Ivey is pretty awesome for coaching this for free. What an adventure that he’ll remember for the rest of his life. He will never have a job that he does that is more meaningful and memorable than being the head coach of the Bright Stars.
  4. Seems like this team might be better if they just use Embiid as the 12th man and let AD and Bam handle things on the backline.
  5. Down 58-44 at the half to South Sudan. That doesn’t sound optimal. Good for Ivey though as he’s done an amazing job keeping South Sudan together. He’ll be a head coach in the NBA sooner rather than later.
  6. Well I never had her as a rep so I cannot be as detailed as others about her. Cancer absolutely sucks and that is not a fun way to go. At least it was quick with no prolonged suffering. My mother is the same age and she has battled cancer for 10 plus years now. My only time seeing her in person was August 2020 at the March on Washington. She was the hardest speaker to follow because she was all over the map. At least she was there though. That was such a hot and humid day so credit to her for being there during the pandemic when things were still such a mess.
  7. Sitting in a theatre is definitely not for everyone. There are things that bug me like people who won’t stop talking. Unless it’s a big movie that I know will be packed I usually avoid going to those showings and opt for ones later at night at an AMC away from the tourist area. That usually works well.
  8. Two weeks, two months, never. Whatever it takes.
  9. Drew Magary is one of the biggest reasons I am a subscriber to Defector. I met him last year at a live podcast he and David Roth did for subscribers and he’s pretty awesome. I only wish he had written this piece on Defector instead of SFGate. You get the uncensored version of his thoughts there.
  10. I’ll go to the beach today and enjoy some sun and maybe watch a movie tonight. I’ll skip the Nazi circus sideshow as well as the crowning of the GQP king. Watching a convention full of people whose collective IQ can be counted on one hand is not my idea of a fun way to spend an evening.
  11. The Boomers aren’t a bad team. They are in a state of building this thing around Giddey. The thing they lack is competent big men. They have good guards and wings, but trotting Jock Landale out there is humorous.
  12. I would absolutely do that and hopefully you get a positive response from them. América has completely and utterly lost its way in a fashion that it cannot come back from. Democrats are not going to get in the pit with these vipers and fight dirty. I have not and will not change my stance on Biden winning in November, but seeing this done by someone as qualified to be a judge as a homeless guy pissing on subway walls has broken something in me.
  13. The god of the GQP cult only protects thieves, liars, rapists and con artists. Little kids are on their own once they’re born with those folks.
  14. My man Carlitos! Can’t wait to watch him out in Flushing in a little more than a month! I wish some of Rune’s fans had stuck around to yell out Ruuuuuuune during the ceremony when Djokovic got his well-earned not championship trophy.
  15. Trump will not win this election. I don’t condone anyone trying to murder him, but this is not going to push him past 270. Biden and his diminished mental faculties will still win. Is the next four plus months going to be wild? Absolutely. It will still end with one final loss to put on Trump’s resume of losses, bankruptcies, decisions in court made against him etc.
  16. I would prefer he have to face the penalties for a lifetime of awful and horrific behavior towards people. I do not support someone attempting to murder him. I want to see him behind bars not six feet under.
  17. Why only 80? Why not 40k feet over an active volcano?
  18. Oh I am certain we will all hear it a bunch. I am gonna go to the beach and just watch it on my phone and hope that when Alcaraz arrives in NYC in August that he is the back-to-back Wimbledon champion.
  19. Time for Alcaraz to put Djokovic out to pasture permanently on Sunday.
  20. This one really hit me because of how he was killed execution-style right there in a neighbor’s yard. Murdered the kid and then QI covered his backside (The law changed somewhat right after this execution happened in Maryland, but it won’t put the murderer behind bars). The murderer was even referred to as being “the victim” in this. I told a friend at work last night that when I leave the continental US in January that I will never set foot on it again. So much cruelty for no reason other than people can do it.
  21. Dave McKenna wrote this article and he has covered this ongoing miscarriage of justice. Some of y’all I know subscribe to Defector and while most of the content is sports they do not limit themselves to solely covering that and report on a plethora of other topics. They will write about pretty much whatever they want as the employees collectively own the company. McKenna is a Tech grad I believe, but is a DC lifer outside of his time spent in Lubbock for college so this is a story that hits really close to home for him. The picture taken by a neighbor of this child less than a minute before he was murdered is so heartbreaking and infuriating. https://defector.com/u-s-court-of-appeals-rules-against-cop-who-killed-peyton-ham
  22. Obviously working in a restaurant means I will cross paths with a whole bunch of people who either are doing hard drugs or drinking heavily, or both. I know one of them drinks sometimes at work because I can smell it amd I have heard him mention it to someone else. I saw him last week and said I wanted to ask him a question. I asked him how much he drinks. He was a bit evasive at first, but he told me a good bit of his story. He’s in his late 30’s and has been in drug rehab six times and that yes he does drink. I just told him that if he drinks it is not my place to tell him what to do, but if he needs to talk to someone that he can always speak to me. He gave me a hug and thanked me for taking the time to see how he is doing. Now I know he drinks too much, but I cannot control that. I can be there to help him though when he asks for it and at least listen to what ails him in his life. I think that’s important and perhaps something we should attempt to do more with those around us.
  23. Medvedev just broke Sinner in the 3rd set. This seems like this might be a bit of a problem for Sinner. Sets at 1-1 but Medvedev up 3-1 in the 3rd and his serve is yet to be broken.
  24. His childlike mind is more fragile to being criticized than Kevin Durant. One of the most unlikeable tennis players in the history of the sport. My younger brother still plays competitive tennis (Won the doubles tournament in Texas in 2022 that got him to nationals in San Diego the following spring) and he really does not like Djokovic.
