  1. We'll never know for sure, but the times when the defense looked the best this year were when we played aggressive and used a lot of quarters, i.e. when we looked more like a Patterson defense than a PK defense. I think it's safe to say he played a pretty big role in the defensive improvement. PK still has a tendency to play very soft, off coverages when he isn't sure how to counter the offense.
  2. It’s seriously impossible to tell which pictures are the before and which are the after.
  3. I thought @RGBIII was Tom Herman’s dickhead half brother. Or is that @RGBIV?
  4. Did it though? Marion seems a lot more hype than results. He’s pretty replaceable and there’s a decent chance we end up with a better WR coach. Plus, if he didn’t leave this year, it would’ve been next year. If we can hold on to the guys we have, this will be better timing than him leaving before NSD1 next year.
  5. You say this as if Oats would make the same here as he does at Bama. He might not leave at all, but he’s definitely not leaving without a big raise.
  6. Huh? He’s played 31 defensive snaps all year for them.
  7. If a 4th year Majors is the weakest link of our OL, then we’ll have one of the best OLs in the country. He was significantly better than Hutson and Conner this year. It’s unlikely we can replace those two and still have someone available who’s better than Majors.
  8. This is a weird response to the idea of having Hutson compete with Majors, which first and foremost replaces one of the guards and only has the secondary benefit of more competition at Center. Everyone knows the Guards are the biggest weakness.
  9. The NAIA playoffs just wrapped up. The fighting Texum aggies are pouring over the film. Rest assured they’ll be poaching the best of the best from the likes of Morningside, Kansas Wesleyan, and Concordia.
  10. There’s no legal right to enforce for them to get into F1. The $200 million buy in is a requirement but doesn’t actually gain them entry. The teams would still have to vote to allow them in. And if they vote no, There’s no legal recourse for Andretti.
  11. He was better against the run early in the year, but he got completely exposed against Baylor and UW. Those might have been his worst games of the season. I’m glad he’s not back for another year. Give the young guys the reps and develop them.
  12. Makes sense. We know they can get him paid.
  13. Fuck no. Terry would be a horrible hire as a HC regardless of how this season goes.
  14. Good to know. Any idea where McDonald might be ranked?
  15. Checks out. Hutson and Conner were fucking awful all year. If Jones comes back, you move Campbell and Williams to Guard and let Hutson and Majors fight for Center. Conner can be a swing OL. A plan to get Keilan Robinson plenty of carries is a bad plan. He’s a scat back. I wonder if UW has much in the way of NIL. I could see him following DeBoer to UW if they can give him some money. The big difference is Keilan might have the worst vision I’ve seen in a RB since Trent Richardson was playing for the Colts. That’s a much bigger reason why he can’t run inside than his weight. Blue has the frame to get above 200 without much trouble, and he showed the potential to be an every down back in HS, whereas Keilan has never come close to showing that. He and Keilan are not at all the same.
  16. Absolutely. I’m pretty shocked at what a huge difference his absence has made. Not many basketball coaches affect their teams level of play that much. Beard was absolutely building something special, which makes his decisions that much more fucking stupid. We could make a very good next hire and still suffer a pretty big downgrade at HC. It sucks.
  17. Almost that whole list is schools who had a coach just get fired or a first year coach getting rid of all the dead weight after their first season. And then there’s Jimbo in Year 5 topping the list. You hate to see it.
  18. Oh definitely. They’ve kept a lot of 22 big names, but lost a shit load of depth, they have a weak HS class and haven’t done anything in the portal. All that seems like evidence they’re using all their available funds to keep the 22 big names around while sacrificing every other part of their program.
  19. And Smoke and Williams. Both those guys were top 70 nationally.
  20. Can you imagine a grid full of PR66’s? That would certainly decrease my interest in the sport.
  21. You can go fuck yourself, sir. And Merry Christmas.
  22. Nope. Defensive ends are edges. They’re not separate positions.
  23. Off-ball linebacker means a linebacker who lines up off the line of scrimmage behind a DL (usually called an inside linebacker but could also be an outside linebacker in a 4-3 who is off the LOS and behind a DE), which is different from an outside linebacker who plays edge and lines up on the LOS, like a defensive end. Since there are so many different formations and schemes these days, outside linebacker can mean a lot of different things, so people have started using off-ball LB and edge as a way to clearly describe a player’s function regardless of formation/specific terminology.
  24. So far, the type of fans this decision seems to alienate are JFCKFC, Loop 1604, Westcott Eberts, and BWG. In which case, it seems like a real win-win.
