Fine. Let's invest in expanded mental healthcare, better public schools, codified abortion rights so people who have no business having children don't, paid parental leave to solidify the family, etc. Along with reasonable gun control laws and finding ways to take the temperature down on the hateful rhetoric. Most of us are for all of these things. Remind me who opposes them vehemently? Many of the same people spouting anti-LGTBQ bullshit? Oh, that's right.

No one is saying it's one specific thing. You're the one being dishonest.

She was able to have an abortion when he was born. Stop being obtuse.

Naww, man…you’re just being really cruel and evil here. And you shouldn’t.

Churches have to pay tax because some fuck up shoots a gay bar, but if it's shown that he wasn't a radical Christian then its all hunky dory.

What, exactly, do you think that you're proving with this picture? Do you think you'd be a better parent to these kids than their actual parents? Probably not something I'd do, but kids tend to be more mature about this shit than we give them credit for. I'd put good money on these kids winding up being more open-minded, empathetic, and well-rounded than the kids sitting in a church hearing about how homos are destined for eternal damnation.

Why not, it would make rhem open minded, or are you full of shit?

This thread existed for a couple years with ~8 pages of posts mostly centered around sharing life experiences (many related to kids), some exchanges of encouragement and support, a few snipes, and a few sidebars along the way.  The last two weeks or so accumulated 10+ pages of virtually 100% shit flinging.

You see that people of the world hate that there is something that tells them that the things they like sex, drinking, hiarchies, and other carnal pleasures that is said is a sin in the Bible restricts preoperative. They can't help but say that Christians, and other Abrahamic religions say that those things are not good. The Bible says to turn your life away from sin but to God, but we all know this. This isn't new, It's just much different tactics than what Nero did to early Christians.

I thought everyone has accepted that homosexuality is not a sin, since it’s not actually in the Bible. Well, it’s in the English Bible, but not originally. Nice little twist of words in translation.

You're going to have to explain yourself. Paul was pretty clear on it.

Jesus Christ, nobody is force feeding you homosexuality and telling you that you have to like it.  They're just advocating for equal treatment under the law when it comes to rights such as marriage, parenting, and employment.  The same rights that adulterers enjoy.

    Reminds me of this.

I was asking the CoC poster. I once had the pleasure of having dinner with a group of CoC and SBC people when the subject of Baptisim came up. It was pretty tense.

I was told to go out to baptize all nations. Weird thing to be told to do by Matthew, unless it doesn't matter. What's your thoughts on women pastors?

I mean, you have to admire his devotion to the text, except for the parts about the poors and foreigners, because those were clearly mistranslated, lol.

See we should have sin just be okay in churches. Don't mind Paul's letters.

Never mind the fact that Jesus never said anything about them at all.

Jesus very much affirmed traditional marriage, it's going to be hard to say that he was OK with premarital sex, or that he was alright with gay marriage, if he affirmed traditional marriage.

Reading hot economic takes from someone who claimed in November of 2020 that "Our economy has been basically back to pre Covid" will never not make me laugh.

I wasn't the only one saying it, but as we can tell things have not gotten better. I was wrong. I'm not stupid enough to say otherwise.

A snapshot view of the U.S. reveals a positive picture across many dimensions. Headline economic data is improving. Labor market indicators are trending in the right direction. Manufacturing metrics are positive and accelerating. Strong single-family home sales are supporting consumer spending, residential construction and manufacturing. Auto sales have firmed up, boosting activity in a slew of industries. The uncertainty surrounding a cliffhanger election is fading rapidly. Financial markets have responded favorably to the expected outcome of divided government in Washington. The prospects of some additional fiscal stimulus are positive. Monetary policy remains very accommodative.

Financing a tax cut with debt is spending. Thus, it has the same effect from an inflationary  standpoint. That’s why stimulus is a real thing. And look, if the argument is that inflationary stimulus is better when it’s spent by people/business than government that’s a fair point. But don’t pretend that it’s something other than spending.

    I can agree with this.

You didn't support the 2017 tax cut and vote for the people who did it? What would happen when either a supply shock or the next recession showed up was pretty extensively discussed at that time.

I supported the 2017 tax cuts, and still do. I also think spending should go down too, and we're reaping with what is happening now. I don't think tax increases are going to help if you also spend like a mad man on crack. You're more likely going to get stagflation.
