  1. What in the hell is "bird week"?
  2. Something that I haven't heard anyone note is that Aranda was the DC at LSU in 2016 during Freeze's last year at Ole Miss. They went into halftime tied. Aranda and LSU shut Ole Miss out in the second half for the win. Held them to 94 total yards in the last 2 quarters and 50 of those yards were in garbage time as the game was ending. Long time ago, so probably doesn't matter. Probably.
  3. HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!! You actually had a chance to make a decent post and then you add in that ridiculous bullshit. I wish you cheered for anyone else at this point. Why is Michael Taaffe hurling Jaggy at the football?
  4. You guys come on here and claim no one cared about Texas not playing ATM. That's myopic bullshit. We didn't care about playing them, sure. Nationally, it came up in commentary multiple times every year. Conversationally with other CFB fans, it would get asked about and mentioned. You can spare me the "no one watched it nationally when it was being played!" pleas, too. Once the game was gone, it was lamented by CFB fans. I never wanted it renewed, but now I'm glad it is back. Mostly because I feel pretty sure Texas will continue to win more than 2/3s of the time. So you thought this thread needed those scores posted? That it? We needed to see that? Cool, cool, cool.
  5. Here's a Bucknuts Friday insider post of true fucktardery. They quote @Fud's buddy, Dane Brugler, who is running around spewing his idiotic take that Styles is a better LB prospect than Hill for the NFL. They quote a "random" NFL source to support that take, with "random" being a former OSU person that the Bucknuts staff knows. "Yeah, man, I like the guy with worse stats and less experience to project better at the next level." Okay, then. Another insider sprints in with the take that Ohio State might even be better! this season and that they have a deeper and better roster than Texas. It's like reading OU boards but with shittier accents.
  6. Bucknuts asked ChatGPT to predict the Ohio State season. I've spoilered it below. I found it entertaining, even if it has OSU only losing one game all season, their opener.
  7. Friday: -Western Michigan at Michigan State - mostly because there aren't any games worth a damn besides Auburn/Baylor and GaTech/CU. WMU was decimated by the portal and they replaced upwardly mobile talent with FCS guys in many instances and, really, who gives a shit? I don't. What I do care about a little is MSU. I think Smith is a good coach. No one is talking about MSU, mostly because they've sucked for a while. They're picked by everyone towards the bottom of the Big 10. The QB Chiles kind of sucked last year after running his mouth before the season, but he should be improved and Nick Marsh is a stud WR. MSU avoids OSU and Oregon, but they also avoid Purdue, NW, Rutgers, and Wisconsin. Getting to a bowl will be tough even if they're improved, but if they're going to get there, being good enough to blowout a shitty WMU team would be a good start. -Auburn at Baylor - I've heard the SEC talking heads all week speak of this game as though it should be a "dogwalking of Baylor by Auburn" (quoting Chris Marler on SEC Radio yesterday). These clowns think they know ball and all they really know is "muh SEC" and it is always old. Baylor has NFL talent all over the field on offense. Baylor returns 5 starters from a poor defense, but they added talent from the portal and their star LB returns. While I don't think Baylor is a particularly difficult place to play, Auburn has been a dogshit road team. They were 1-3 on the road last year with a win over shitty Kentucky. Auburn has a great WR corps, the interior of the OL is back, Arnold may or may not be worth a shit, Kendric Faulk is good and also overrated and Durkin DC'd them to a top 30 defense last season. I expect Baylor to win and I am interested in seeing if BU does win, do we some sort of complete meltdown in or immediately after the game from Hugh Freeze, who comes across like a ticking timebomb to me. -Georgia Tech at Colorado - Colorado basically replaces everyone on offense except their LT. Salter was great at Liberty playing against the weakest schedule in the country every season. How does he handle things against a better slate of teams with a completely inexperienced group around him? The defense isn't in much better shape and the strength of the D from last season, the secondary, has basically been wiped out. They're counting on a ton of transfers turning their careers around up front. Haynes the RB and Haynes King return for GT, but the offense needs to replace 3 OL, 2 WRs and the TE. I'm sure Key will have the OL in sync, though. The defense returns Efford at LB and 3 other starters, but they're largely being rebuilt as well. Can Gideon actually be a competent DC? I doubt it, but I am biased because of Tech in '08 and will never get over it. Nonetheless, I am taking Georgia Tech to win this one on the road.
  8. Why? This isn't a betting thread and I'm not placing bets. Assume I'm taking the moneylines, I guess.
  9. I guess I’m confused as to why you’re confused. He’s pushing two initiatives he believed in: 1) Laura Dern for the Heisman. 2) The guy was a big poultritarian and never missed a chance to push that agenda.
  10. Huh? Anyone wanting anything more than a W is delusional. Find the win, celebrate, go home.
  11. Correct, which is why I find the stuff about Patricia amusing.
  12. Moving a random Cincy/Nebraska discussion from the Texas/OSU thread to here. On paper, Cincinnati looks like they can be a decent ball club. They return their QB and a 1st team All Big 12 TE. They bring in spares from A&M at WR and Walker from OU/Wiscy at TB. They have some OLs coming back. On defense, Cincy returns like 4-5 of their own guys and 3-4 starters from other backwater programs like Coastal and NMSU. They have some talent including the mobster veteran DT, Corleone, who has NFL talent. The problem for Cincinnati is that Satterfield is an imbecile and should not be a P4 HC. I assume he’ll be fired after this season and they’ll try to hire Fickell back after he’s shitcanned going 4-8 at Wisconsin. Nebraska, as mentioned, has a now veteran Raiola playing QB. Dane Key, as Drebin said, is a stud transfer. Emmett Johnson has played TB there for awhile. They like him plus two others and all will get carries with Holgerson calling the shots. They return two starters on the OL plus two good OL transfers that started for years at ND and Bama. The defense is mostly home grown and we’re going find out if Rhule is as good of a developer as I think he is because there are a bunch of new starters in the front 7, only 2 of whom have transferred in to Lincoln. The secondary has a ton of experience as starters. I just think Rhule is a good coach and Satterfield is a bad coach. I take Nebraska all day in this one.
  13. Moved my response to the Week One CFB thread.
  14. I can tell you this, Cincinnati isn’t a home dog. It’s a neutral site game at Arrowhead, which completely favor Nebraska.
  15. Thursday: -Boise State at USF - I think USF will be a good team this year. Give me USF over Life After Jeanty. -Ohio at Rutgers - Rutgers gets way too much credit for being some sort of super tough program. I give Schiano credit for turning them around again, but 7-6 on the reg doesn't mean your tough just because your school is the flagship of a shithole state. That said, the Ohio dude left for fucking Charlotte, so Rutgers rolls in an ugly one. -East Carolina at NC State - I am foolishly taking NCSU because I enjoy being letdown. -Miami (OH) at Wiscy - Fickell is on the hot seat. I am interested in seeing just how bad Wisconsin might be and using this game as a pulse check on that. -Nebraska vs Cincy - I think Satterfield is a buffoon and I've always thought that Rhule was a good coach. Folks have been too hard on Raiola after playing every game as a true freshman. I like Nebraska way bigger than 6.5 tonight, I don't care who Cincinnati has coming back.
  16. Where is this notion that Patricia was brought in to be some sort of Ohio State scheme caretaker coming from? Bucknuts is talking daily about how their insiders tell them that Patricia is pushing forward "his install" and crafting up "new exotics" to confuse the Texas OL and Manning.
  17. You are crushing it, Derka, crushing it. Keep owning this thread, bro.
  18. Aggies247 writer predictions for the UTSA game? Pain, brother. A whole lot of fucking pain. All 3 writers have the aggies mauling UTSA by 20+ points.
  19. When you get off your meds and get loose from the orderlies, you really are exhausting. You presented two concepts. 1) If player X didn't go to Texas, no one here would even be cheering for him. 2) Everyone cheering for him is projecting success at the next level for no reason, all of the objective stats and facts point in my arguments favor, potshots at maga and comparing those folks to posters in this thread for whatever reason, blah blah blah. I addressed concept 1, which no sane person not on a manic rage-posting streak would argue against. I have no interest in further hearing you about this if you wish to challenge it because you'd be wrong on it and it is a mindnumbingly stupid take that you should have never posted in the first place. I ignored concept 2 because I reject the premise. You've provided no evidence to secure a genuine response that a bunch of posters here are calling for Ewers to be successful at the NFL level simply because they're Ewers fanbois. Note: this isn't an invite for you to go back through the more than 100 page thread and find shit people said hopefully about him in the past. I've been on the past 4-5 pages of this shitshow and I don't see much of that, if any, and it is absolutely nowhere near a consensus POV even if your amped up ass finds a needle in the haystack and you want to come back and "OH OH OMG SEE SEE!! THIS GUY DID IT!! RIGHT HERE IN THIS ONE POST IM QUOTING! THIS GUY DID IT! BOOM! MIC DROP!!" whatever perceived nugget you've managed to locate.
  20. Lies! Damned Lies! And Statistics! That grade for Simmons is illusory. He wasn't on the field in obvious running or potential running moments for most of the year. Day would be a buffoon to not make certain that a score like that is merited.
  21. You're correct that I am too intelligent for that dumbass take, which is why I didn't make it. Do you really wish to get into a game of rhetorical cat & mouse with me? You've presented a false premise and you've done it so cheaply that I don't feel like dignifying with a thoughtful response.
  22. The OLB/Edge responsibilities will be more experienced and deeper, that will help. The LBs are running 2 deep at starter level. We know that the safeties will play run responsibilities well. Baker did an excellent job with the interior last year. Hindsight is your position regarding Broughton and Collins. This time last year, hope was our strategy on both guys. Collins always had potential, but potential doesn't pay the rent. Broughton sucked until his JR year and then he flashed being potentially above replacement as a SR if we were lucky. And then no one knew shit about Norton or Lole and everyone was wringing their hands. The 5 guys brought in at DT don't all have to hit. It sounds like they're all pushing for PT along with January though, so, yay! for us. How many preseasons and off seasons in a row do we need to bawl all over ourselves with worry about the DT room before we just trust that the staff knows what they're doing and, if they like what we have, we should as well? My number is 2. I am out of off seasons for that handwringing with this regime. Regardless, we'll know whether our thinking is folly on the first drive of the game for OSU if Day is worth his salt, and I think he obviously is. They're going to run right at Simmons several times and make him, and the Texas staff, make absolutely sure that he's a 3 down Edge.
