  1. I'd say "same" on that, though I also know that my caffeine intake before an AM workout compared to before a PM workout (I typically don't drink caffeine after 3PM) also has a pretty big impact on that, so my HR doesn't get near as high even if I'm actually working in the same weight and rep range so I don't feel like I've pushed as hard and/or I get tired out quicker as a result.
  2. nice slewfoot by Marchand on that sequence, so the outcome puts a smile on my face.
  3. fuck, now that you've made me come to this realization I'm pulling for the asteroid.
  4. really thought they were going to push it to a game 6 after how things started last night. Florida is just a frigin wagon at this point. either way not bad for a re-tool season. Spend that 30M in cap space heading into next season correctly and we might actually win 2 games in the ECF or something.
  5. on one end I totally get that. On the other side of things this year was a bit of a retool to begin with so even getting to the ECF is more than most of us were expecting. The only real critique I have of this season is that they weren't able to bring in a veteran RHD for depth at the deadline. My only hope the rest of the way is breaking the 0-fucking 13 in our conference finals record since the Cup, anything beyond forcing a game 5 in this series is a bonus.
  6. yep, just a bad situation for the kid, I really don't get why they didn't run it back with Nikishin after game 5 in DC, especially if the guy they were going to put him with is the guy that's prettymuch only on the team because he can run a PP but tends to be pretty bad in his own zone.
  7. I hate throwing individual players under the bus but holy hell, Scott Morrow was Florida's best player last night. Problem is he's a defenseman on Carolina.
  8. this is my understanding from knowing a guy on the Canes broadcast crew. ESPN got first pick and elected to take the WCF this year. TBF I can't blame them since they made the pick after Game 5 of Panthers-Leafs apparently and Canes-Panthers is likely to be a bloodbath for TV ratings.
  9. Toronto in Game 7s is an absolute meme at this point. They just flat out can't keep from absolutely imploding time after time. 8 straight times now they've lost in game 7s, at some point it goes from random chance to being something just outright wrong about that franchise culturally.
  10. was legitimately a much better series than 4-1 would indicate. Between game 1 and tonight there are games that could have gone either way quite easily. Just glad the series wasn't a bloodbath. Sure there were some big hits (Wilson on Jarvis tonight for one) but nowhere near the level of post-play crap we've been seeing in the Florida series.
  11. Have a feeling that Marner is gone this offseason, and after watching his spinorama 360 no scope bullshit right onto the Panthers defenders stick yesterday leading immediately to the goal that completely buried them I'd want my team to have nothing to do with signing him. The only player on their overrated "Core 4" that's shown up at all in the playoffs is Nylander.
  12. If you had told me that Edmonton was going to win this series I'd say "sure, probably going to be a bunch of track meets". Oilers simply outclassing Vegas and getting better goaltending never would have been in the equation for me looking at this series going in.
  13. was going to say, that was quite possibly the worst defensive breakdown I've seen in the last decade, figured if something like that was going to happen to any of the 8 left it would be the Leafs.
  14. Even more I think only 2 of those 7 shots were at 5 v 5. That's just astounding.
  15. That might have been the most Canes-hockey win ever. Shots from everywhere, low scoring, and the GWG is one that probably should have been stopped.
  16. IIRC most of the shit that Shanny got was for being "too harsh", I personally thought he was great at the position. Parros has been a swing in the complete other direction.
  17. Gregory Campbell's Florida's AGM and the current head of DoPS is frigin George Parros, so of course Bennett isn't even fined.
  18. yeah, I had the 2nd and 3rd periods of LA-Edmonton on during my ride back, I was hoping LA could break through but they just seem to have the biggest damn mental block ever when it comes to playing the Oilers in the playoffs.
  19. can't emphasize this enough for pullups. Assisted pullup machines in a gym are a godsend for this and if one of those isn't available a set of powerbands won't set you back that much and will get you to where you want to get to with the exercise faster than you might think. I know what you mean on the weight front. I bumped back up to 182 recently from 177 even though I'm down another inch on my waistline which tells me it's muscle. But it's such a sucker punch to the ego even if I know it's likely just muscle gain and/or water weight.
  20. Makes sense because he was pretty shit as a ref as well. Furk me, didn't get in from the game until about 1AM this morning and had to be up at 5. Also ears are still going to be ringing for the next couple days. The crowd when Svech tied it at 3 and when Aho tied it at 4 in the 2nd was so loud the goal horn only sounded like white noise in the background.
  21. Yep, biggest reason that I work in one session of yoga during my week, I've found it's been pretty good for keeping/improving my flexibility while hitting the weights the other 3-4 days a week I'm in there. Also as a single guy I can't say it hurts that there's about a 4 to 1 ratio or better most classes.
  22. He and Lundqvist are both pretty solid as studio guys. The Turner guys tend to blow ESPN's out of the friggin water for analysis overall though Carter tends to be a little too into going for hot taeks and less actual analysis for my liking. Speaking of, Biz and Ryan Whitney are the owners of the new ECHL team just down the road from me so I'll definitely be catching a few of those games. Greensboro used to be THE spot for minor league hockey in the Southeast and it's shit that they lost their franchise for as long as they did. Mind you ECHL play was like something out of Slapshot at the time, so that's going to be a good bit different. Hoping the well wasn't poisoned a good nearly 30 years back when the Whale first moved here and kinda forced the Monarchs out.
  23. Jack and now Luke Hughes being out injured against Carolina makes New Jersey a pretty strong candidate.
  24. Though yeah, this year was supposed to be a retool for Carolina while still being a playoff team. Blake emerging as a top 6 forward as a rookie was an unexpected pleasant surprise but the defense isn't there unless Nikishin rotates in and is Pronger level from day one, and Burns all of a sudden returns to his form from 2016. TBH I expect the Canes to get out of the Metro, but then Tampa probably picks us apart in the ECF.
  25. Columbus seems to be taking care of the Flyers tonight and they have the Isles left. Oh how I hope my boys can twist the dagger in Montreal tomorrow night playing what's essentially an AHL lineup. Stephane Robidas' kid getting the game winner there in regulation would be the sweetest possible outcome.
