  1. What is your thought on this @perfectchaos007?
  2. I'm far from a tennis expert but I definitely think the women's team has a higher ceiling than that. Our last 3 losses have been by 1 point to top 4 teams and isn't that with a roster that's been battling injuries? Not sure about the team's health currently though.
  3. I'm pretty sure this hurt Stanford more than us. They were ranked 5th going into the meet and we were ranked 8th.
  4. It feels like this years Directors' Cup may come down to our tennis teams because both are kind of volatile. They could lose in the 2nd round or make deep runs to the national title match.
  5. It might hurt us in the end but I don't think it impacts us based on the Directors' Cup Updates projections. I think we were even projected to finish lower than 7th as his projections are based on rankings and we were ranked 8th or 9th going into the meet.
  6. I do not think RT was a big fan of those small guards. We were just tiny with Hunter and Abmas. Then even smaller when we played 3 guards with Weaver. The big difference I see between the women's and men's teams are length/size. We just have length/size all over the court on the women's team.
  7. It's nice on the offensive end but I wouldn't trade our frontcourt on the defensive end/boards with anyone. The last 2 games we've shut down 2 really good bigs. Ejim (WCC player of the year) 4/10 and 4 turnovers. Cody 2/7 and 2 turnovers.
  8. I don't think these teams liked each other. You could tell from the press conference that Shaylee didn't like them from her days at BYU. There was also some major chirping at the start of the game. This just ended up being such an ass-kicking that the chirping stopped early.
  9. Keatts also has to feel like the basketball gods are on his side. His path to the Elite 8 included Texas Tech: Extremely banged up and haven't been the same team since Williams was injured. Oakland: 14 seed. Marquette: A Shaka coached team and their star player (Kolek) is far from healthy. This is about as favorable a draw an 11 seed can imagine.
  10. Great story but this normally never ends well after these type runs. That Oregon State improbable run a few years ago has been followed by a 3-28, 11-21, and 13-19 seasons by Tinkle.
  11. We still only have 2 losses on the year when this current roster is all together. L to Baylor (Didn't have Jones) L to OU (Didn't have Gaston) The two losses were a 1 point loss @ OU and 3 point loss @ K-State.
  12. I think Faye was also honored on SR day but I wasn't expecting her to return regardless assuming Jones and Gaston both return.
  13. Gonzales is the only player that doesn't have eligibility. So we could return almost everyone. But we are going to lose more players. There are already 3 or 4 players not getting much playing time and that's with multiple 5 stars coming in. Players like Jak, Muhammad, Gaston, etc could also start at other schools so we have to convince them to come off the bench next year.
  14. I still like the way college basketball is structured. It's unpredictable which is what makes March Madness so fun. I prefer the women's model though where the top seeds get home court in the first 2 rounds. If you structured the tournament that way it would 1) Give the regular season more weight and 2) Better reflect conference strength in the tournament because it would eliminate the randomness on neutral courts.
  15. The player that doesn't get enough love is Shay Holle. IMO she's one of the most underrated players in college basketball. She guards the best perimeter player every night and does it extremely well. She can shoot from 3. She's a really good offensive rebounder. She can also give you 30+ minutes a night. We were already really good but I think the turning point in the season was recognizing that Holle needed to play 30+ minutes a night.
  16. Yeah, seems like Muhammad had a bit of regression this year but she was really good last night. I think she can still be a good player. Definitely the type player you win big with as your 6th or 7th man. I'm just not sure she wants to be that.
  17. Losing Harmon sucks but the 1 benefit is we are now a team capable of shooting from the perimeter. Our starting 5 at the beginning of the year was Harmon, Gonzales, and Muhammad. 2 of those players really aren't shooters. The starting 5 is now Booker, Gonzeles, and Holle. From a roster perspective, we are now much more capable of shooting than we were at the beginning of the year.
  18. It seems very unlikely Jak and Muhammad return. There aren't going to be minutes assuming Holle returns and then Booker likely moving back to the 3/4.
  19. Gonzaga's D was focused on Booker. They ran a lot of extended traps and some version of a box in 1 where they would help on her in the midrange. It was effective on her but I don't think it's a very good strategy. Gonzeles, Holle, Moore, and Muhammad were getting open looks all night because they were over helping on Booker.
  20. That's what Vic's defense does. He speeds you up and forces you to run offense out of system with all the pressure. This is what the halftime reporters were talking about.
  21. We are on a pretty crazy run since the Big 12 tournament. Beat K-State by 7 (4 seed) Beat Iowa State by 17 (7 seed) Beat Drexel by 40 (16 seed) Beat Alabama by 10 (8 seed) Beat Gonzaga by 22 (4 seed) We are running some good teams off the court.
  22. The comparison is a small sample size. Judging a conference based on a couple of games is dumb. The ACC only had 4 teams make the tournament for the first time since '13 because the conference sucked most of the year. A couple of random occurrences during "March Madness" like UH being without their best player doesn't change that fact.
  23. But it's a terrible argument. A small sample where random teams like NC State catch a heater, or Duke beats UH without their best player, etc isn't an indication of conference strength over the long-term. It's why they call it "March Madness." It's also the same stupidity when people try to argue conference strength over bowl games.
  24. You do know that postseason play isn't indicative of the entire season right?
  25. I believe South Carolina is losing Cardoso and Papao next year. Clark is gone from Iowa. We should be national title favorites next year if everyone runs it back.
