  1. 9 in a row since beating #1 Ohio State. This looks like the team that was favored to win it all.
  2. For people that don't think going big like we did wins championships, just watch the championship game. South Carolina 51 rebounds to Iowa's 29 rebounds. South Carolina just murdered teams inside and on the boards. We need better guard play but I actually think the formula of this year's team (with Rori) is a mirror image of what South Carolina tries to do.
  3. I knew we would be #1 or #2 in the preseason polls. As we should be. I have no problem with South Carolina being #1 but Cardoso is a huge loss. Their entire offense runs through her at times.
  4. The other thing about this coaching cycle is some pretty good jobs have come open. Arkansas, USC, and Louisville aren't tier 1 jobs but these are still quality options. It could be that Beard is waiting for a blue-blood to open but my bet is the market for him is much smaller than people realize because of his history/background check.
  5. It was pretty much a desperation move made by Ole MIss. There were a lot of Texas fans that used the argument of "every other school would have kept Beard" but reality is it took one of the worst historical P5 programs in the country to actually hire him. Like Arkansas, I'm betting there are a ton of schools that can't hire Beard following a background check.
  6. The big issue with Beard is he's never had to face consequences in real life. Dude choked his fiance and missed half a season of college basketball. It sounds like Beard has been a drunk for going on a decade with no real punishment. It's going to take something seriously bad happening for him to change his behavior.
  7. I'm not sure about that one. I think there were issues between Battle and Muss but maybe they worked it out.
  8. Yeah, I said this in the recruiting thread. We should be all over Battle. He gets downhill and to the FT line a ton.
  9. Khalif Battle is somebody we should be all over, Big guard that can really score. Gets downhill and to the FT line which is something we really struggled with last year.
  10. USC just brought in the top recruit in '23 and #1 recruiting class in '24 on the women's basketball side for a mediocre coach. They seem to be all in on NIL. It makes sense now with Musselman.
  11. Van Lith is a significant upgrade over Shaylee at the 2. Better scorer, ball handler, and defender. Part of me says hell no but the other part says "damn let's stack talent and see what happens." I say it's very unlikely either way because of how Vic operates.
  12. Speaking of Arkansas, Battle just entered the portal. We should be all over that. He's a big guard that RT seems to be interested in and he's a legit scorer.
  13. The thing is we could really use a scorer like Van Lith in a more limited role but I just don't think that fits her. They just tried that at LSU and it kind of failed. But she's a better version of Shaylee which I still think has some value.
  14. Am I wrong to think this team could be dangerous if they get Zeynalova back?
  15. Face value, Arkansas is a better job than Ole Miss but I'm not totally sure Beard takes it. I'm not sure he views it as a destination job and I think he knows he needs to stick somewhere. All this jumping around is not helping him.
  16. The other thing for Arkansas is it looks like it will be a complete rebuild like Ole Miss based on what they are losing. Making the tournament in year 1 might be the ceiling for somebody like Beard. At what point does the shine wear off if he is looking to jump to another job? '19-20: 9-9 in the Big 12 and NCAA tournament cancelled. '20-21: 9-8 in the Big 12 and round of 32. '21-22: 10-8 in the Big 12 and round of 32. '22-23: Choked his fiance and fired. '23-24: 7-11 in SEC and missed the NCAA tournament. '24-25: A completely rebuilt Arkansas team. Maybe .500 in the SEC and a bubble team? Obviously, part of the issue here is jumping around and having to rebuild rosters/teams but we are reaching a pretty extensive period here where Beard hasn't won much of anything.
  17. Outside of Beard's 10 year tenure at Tech as an assistant, he's jumped around his entire career. As an assistant and head coach. I get the sense this is who he is. It matches his erratic behavior.
  18. I asked this in the coaching search thread but is Arkansas even a destination school or another stepping stone job for Beard? It would already be his 5th school in a relatively short amount of time. Eventually he has to stick somewhere if his ultimate goal is to win big.
  19. Is Arkansas really a destination school? That would be Beard’s 5th school in a relatively short amount of time and is it just a stepping stone to another job? At some point, Beard has to stick somewhere.
  20. Yep, whether you like it or not no program was going to get rid of an interim coach coming off an Elite 8 and Big 12 tournament title. Can anyone find an interim coach with similar results who was then let go? There are countless examples of coaches who achieved far less and then had the interim tag removed. Hell, Ohio State just hired an interim coach because he finished 6-2 and upset Purdue. Is there even 1 example of an interim coach who finished as a top 8 team and was then let go at the college level? Maybe there is but I bet the list is extremely small.
  21. RT was consistently getting Mitchell these type of looks early in the year. Around this UCF game, he abandoned it because the results were so bad. When you're air balling these type of shots and the 9-footers against Tennessee people are drastically undervaluing what it takes to become a good shooter. His baseline talent as a shooter is really bad.
  22. Mitchell should work on the midrange game. That at least seems like a spot where he could develop into a decent shooter. It's also why the "development" argument makes me laugh in the context of Mitchell. I actually think RT did a pretty good job of getting Mitchell decent looks at the beginning of the year at the top of the key/midrange area. It's not his fault Mitchell can't shoot.
  23. The funniest narrative last summer was "Mitchell developed a jump shot after working with a different coach than RT over the offseason" and then he proceeded to shoot like 2/20 from the perimeter during the NBA combine scrimmages. Maybe if Mitchell hires a couple more shooting coaches this offseason he will magically learn how to shoot.
