  1. Finished season 2 in 3 nights. TV shows rarely get me like that anymore. So refreshing how it’s an ensemble and every character is worth rooting for - and it’s not some dopey surface level show. Totally against the grain for quality TV over the last 2 decades. The second half of the season was so good. May rewatch.
  2. Agreed on scheduling, wonder if that’s a one off this year though based on the lockout late start.
  3. Just finished. I want season 3
  4. This seems to be getting better. Adding depth to the characters has really helped; it feels less surface level lifestyle/HBO porn and more character story. Still not great, but not bad…I’m enjoying it. the UK/Europe background definitely helps
  5. Pinehurst in a month. Trying to fill an open morning with an off site course. Having a hard time with Pine Needles, Mid Pines, and Southern Pines. Any suggestions?
  6. Can’t imagine Reed is invited back after his lawsuits.
  7. Tough couple of weeks for LIV guys, especially with the OWGR points about to take a nose dive. The major winners with active exemptions will stay relevant, but the others will be forgotten pretty quickly.
  8. The concept from the top players is a good start. Still wish they would modify the playoffs to finish with match play at different venues.
  9. Agreed, did not like. Also kind of predictable.
  10. Sepinwall’s review killed my excitement for this.
  11. RRR on Netflix. Can’t really think of words to describe it, but I loved every second of it (and it’s 3 hours).
  12. Wasn’t there a scene in an early episode with Carmy bitching to the older guy about getting tomatoes in smaller cans rather than larger more efficient cabs? I loved this, but also feels like this could be great as a 1 and done show.
  13. The higher prize money was always coming since the new TV deal kicked in. The new schedule (starting in fall 2023) seems to be a more direct response to LIV by responding to player feedback for more of an offseason, etc. It will be interesting to see how that goes.
  14. If they made the FedEx Cup playoffs more interesting it could fill the gap.
  15. No CR, but starting to identify a golf tour with Trump (or any political figure) is a quick way to eliminate a large portion of the population that may otherwise engage in this new product. I know profits don’t matter for the Saudi government, but it’s just a bizarre move overall.
  16. I love Barkley, but him going to LIV does nothing for me other break up something in sports that is really entertaining.
  17. I don’t see how the OWGR will change its formula given who is on the board and even if they do it takes over a year for them to do anything like that. So assuming the majors don’t go out of their way to may exceptions for the LIV guys that aren’t past champions (PGA won’t, R&A was pretty clear on their stance last weekend, US Open prides itself on the qualifying system, and The Masters won’t want to expand their field), the LIV guys are all fucked from playing the majors unless they go play Asian Tour events (which is hilarious) or they are exempt by already winning one. The Saudis are going to have to buy golfers for like 5 years straight for this to stay relevant, otherwise…is anyone really going to watch? The schedule is already terrible for TV, so even if they get a TV partner you have to go out of your way to find and watch it.
  18. I wish my kid liked this show as much as I do.
  19. There was a $300M reserve fund for years like 2020 when a pandemic alters the economics of the sport. I suppose you could argue that reserve fund is too big, but it’s not like there are PGA execs who are making tens of millions of dollars. And I thought the whole point was the guys that move the needle aren’t getting paid enough, not that the other guys aren’t getting enough. the new TV deal will help the tour, but I’m not sure any sport generates enough money to fight off the Saudi government except maybe the NFL.
  20. The Tour will never have the ability to financially compete with the Saudis. I get the criticism, but what exactly should they be doing?
  21. In between Florence and San Giovanni
  22. Thanks. It would likely just be some wandering, an easy lunch with wine, more wandering, gelato, and then heading out. How easy are strollers in these towns?
  23. I’ll be in Bellagio (Lake Como) and Tuscany in September with my wife and our two small children (I realize a lot of people think that is insane). I’m looking for any suggestions, but specifically day trips in Tuscany…
  24. On episode 3 of the newest season. What the hell happened to the writing on this show? It is cheesy as fuck…several cringe worthy moments per episode, mainly the Helios dude. I don’t remember this in seasons 1-2.
