Dude, read the fucking room. School is not the issue. School is just where the issue manifests itself.
Bottom line, the kid doesn't want to share his name with a POS. And on a practical level, in the next five years or so, he's probably going to be getting a driver's license, taking the SAT, applying to colleges, and getting a job. All of those have a ridiculous amount of bureaucratic red tape that will be much easier to deal with if the name issue is taken care of.
Not to derail this thread, but we need to circle back to this. Are you also a Red Sox and Yankees fan? Do you cheer for Duke and North Carolina? When you watch Star Wars, do you support the Rebels, but also understand the viewpoint of the Empire?
That can also include kids with ADHD, dyslexia, etc. You know the types of vulnerable kids that can be very successful if they are given help and guidance, but there won't be any more help or guidance because of the resulting loss of funding for public schools.
Muir Woods are fantastic, but be careful if you're driving. Go early in the morning because the parking lot is real small and fills up fast. There are also bus companies that will drive you from SF and you could just make it a day trip and then go back to the city.
And don't listen to the haters. The Bay Area is amazing and the problems in San Fran are no different or worse than any other large city in America.
It's not the wasted money that bothers me. Well, it bothers me that it's not being wasted on hookers and booze for me, but I'll get over it.
It's just silly for AISD to trumpet they are solving the teacher burnout problem by teaching yoga. Twisting my fat ass into pretzels in front of my coworkers is not my idea of relaxing and doesn't solve the problem of overcrowded classrooms and lack of supplies.
Oh for fuck's sake, Austin ISD.
I can see where this is going. Next August when teachers are going through beginning-of-the-year professional development, there's going to be a required "relaxation time" led by one of these wanna-be yogis. You know what would relax me? Just give me the fucking money! Or if you want to do something nice for me, take the money and get me two high-end escorts, a bottle of tequila, and a hotel room downtown. That would be way more relaxing than yoga on the school gym floor.
"This pretentious, ponderous film is enough to prompt the question, 'What day did the Lord create Megalopolis, and couldn't he have rested on that day too?'"
I'm not a soccer expert at all, but my back of the envelope math says it would decrease scoring. Aren't there more goals in the second half of games since the defenses are tired? That's the case in football and basketball. If defenders get to rest in the middle of the game, I would imagine they would be fresher at the end of the games and that would mean less scoring.
I don't know. I tried to go see it, but when I called Moviephone, I got the wrong start times.
For the record, "Why don't you just tell me what movie you want to see?" might be my favorite Seinfeld line ever. That and "I'm out!"
