  1. I hope the series will be close with an even flow of runs for both sides. Will there be a ceremony to release this trophy to the team of better men that win?
  2. In and paid. Let's goooooo!
  3. We've done this the last couple of years and it's worked out well. It's definitely a fun wrinkle to a NCAA tournament pool. You pick one team each day of the tournament to win straight-up. If they win, you advance. If you lose, you're out. You can only pick a team once so you may not want to use a #1 seed on the first day. The only exception to the "one pick per day" rule is in the Elite 8 round where you will still have to pick two teams, but you can pick both the Saturday games, both the Sunday games, or one of each. Last year we had 21 participants and I hope we pass that number this year. Feel free to share this with anyone not on the board. The pool is at https://www.officefootballpool.com/pools.cfm?poolid=182847&p=2&pwd=p9nrt5 It's $50 to join, but tournamentpools.com does charge $1/entry, so please send me $51. PM me for paypal or venmo details.
  4. I have to drive from Austin to San Antonio Sunday afternoon. If I roll into Seguin around 3 or 4:00, will there be anything left at Burnt Bean or are they one of those places that run out of meat by 1:00?
  5. Shaq averaged more points and rebounds than Laettner with a better FG and eFG percentage. I know that Laettner's teams had more success than Shaq's, but when comparing individual players, I hate looking at team success. Laettner had a whole lot more talent around him than Shaq did.
  6. Maravich Magic Zion Shaq Curry/DWade/any other guard I am too tired to think of Every list must start with Maravich; all-time leading scorer even without a three-point line and playing JV his freshman year No Laettnar, because fuck him; Shaq should have been on the Dream Team
  7. Oh, I agree. But you need to think about the big picture. If school districts are cutting funding for special ed teachers, soon they're going to start cutting my cat litter budget. Am I going to have to pay out-of-pocket just so my students who identify as cats can go to the bathroom?!? And between you and me, the rumor going around school is that teachers are going to have to start paying for all the surgical tools and anesthesia we use when we turn girls into boys at school. I average two of those a week and those costs add up quickly!
  8. I found out today that due to the Texas legislature being little bitches and President Musk taking a chainsaw to everything in DC, our school is losing 9 teaching positions for next year, including 3 special ed teachers who were funded by DOE grants. I'm gonna have to get creative and figure out how to sit/stack 40 kids in my small classroom each period.
  9. Serious answer: the biggest issue you're going to have is behavior management. I don't mean the kids are going to be misbehaving, but they are going to get bored and do their own thing in practice and in games if you don't keep them busy. So make sure everyone is busy at all times. For example, don't do a drill where everyone stands in a line and waits their turn to shoot. Have a couple of kids working on shooting, have others rebound the shots, have another group working on passing at the same time, and then rotate. During games, give the kids on the bench a task. "Hey, [kid with 4 y's in her name], can you watch #10 on the other team and tell me how many times she touches the ball. I'm trying to figure out if we should guard her closely or not." And just remember, you really can't screw this up too badly. If Rodney Terry can coach, so can you.
  10. I believe that Dick O'Polka was the frontman for the Kenosha Kickers before Gus Polinski showed up.
  11. Without a doubt, the greatest scene in movie history Obviously, username fits.
  12. But at a football game, we're all rooting for a common cause. I want the people around me to make noise. I like high-fiving strangers. I have never done any of those things at a move theater.
  13. Thanks a lot, Bin Laden.
  14. How old are your kids? I teach high school and every year I show it to my classes after the AP test. They always moan and groan when it starts, but I tell them to just give it a chance. After it's over, I always get "You were right. That was pretty good." "I remember every detail. The Germans wore gray, you wore blue."
  15. What in heaven's name brought you to Casablanca? My health. I came to Casablanca for the waters. The waters? What waters? We're in the desert. I was misinformed.
  16. My favorite scene is when Ilsa starts moaning loudly in the middle of Rick's and Captain Renault says, "I'll have what she's having." Absolutely hilarious.
  17. I didn't forget it. In fact, I gave one to your mom last night.
  18. This partnership is going to lead to levels of enshittefication the likes of which have never been seen:
  19. @High Plains Drifter can correct me if I'm wrong, but the tagging would happen in a public post. So if you have a legal question, you can tag @lawdogs and all the ambulance chasers will be notified of the post and come calling. I suppose if you tag @assholes, they whole board would be notified.
  20. The absolute dumbest part of the entire season was in the final montage when But I'll probably forget about all of it and watch the second season.
  21. Seriously this. I turned it off when Uncles Baby Billy and Rico were awkwardly sitting at dinner AGAIN, mainly because I was tired but also because I was bored to tears. Season 1 was great. Season 2 was fine. I'm not sure if I'm going to finish this season.
  22. I never thought I was claustrophobic until I had a MRI. Before I went in, the tech warned me to just keep my eyes closed and relax. After a couple of minutes of being in the tube, I opened my eyes. Fuck that shit. I closed them back tight and spent the next 30 minutes fighting off the urge rip out the IV from my arm and bang my way out of there.
  23. Top 5 greatest Seinfeld moments (in no particular order): 1) "What the hell did you trade Jay Buhner for?" 2) The Junior Mint falling 3) "Well, we really need to make the movie." "Yeah, time is what he is indicating there." 4) "Well that's perverse!" 5) "Why don't you just tell me what movie you want to see?"
  24. I assumed she actually did die, there was a body, but Lumon got the body later and brought her back to life. Not sure if Lumon caused the car crash or not, but I am leaning towards yes. I thought it was all one innie Gemma doing all of that. At the beginning of the episode when she asked the nurse how many rooms she had to go into, she sighed when she heard six. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like all the rooms were about making Zombie Gemma "human" again. The Gemma we saw last night was much more responsive and with it than Ms. Casey was last season. She's finally showing emotions, making decisions, problem solving by trying to escape, etc.
