  1. Ended up using Cedar Park Overhead within a couple of days of the original message. They installed a LiftMaster 84505R. Belt drive, DC motor, Wifi, integrated camera, etc. There are similar Chamberlain ones for around $200 at HD (I think what NoRagrets got), but the Liftmaster has some additional features (not sure it is worth the delta in price). Work quality was top notch, as was the response time. Called, evaluated, installed, etc. all the same day. Worth a premium over other alternatives. Not sure I needed the feature premiums, but I have a functional garage door opener now
  2. I want LSU to lose, but this is a really good game.
  3. Just finished another Larson book, In the Garden of Beasts. Follows the story of US Ambassador to Germany WIlliam Dodd (and family) from 1933-1937. Dodd was one of the few Americans in Germany (and in the US) who was concerned about Hitler. He saw Hitler's ambition - and evil - as few others did at the time. Larson did an excellent job of describing "The Purge" or "The Night of the Long Knives" and its immediate after-effects. Recommend.
  4. The book was very good. The audiobook was fantastic. The accents, enunciation, etc. helped differentiate the characters.
  5. Visited LA area over the weekend. Lunada Bay: Sandstone Peak, North of Malibu: Point Dume, Malibu
  6. Burr: Ladies, If you could just support the WNBA the same way you support a fat chick that's proud of her body and is no longer a threat to you, that league would be doing better numbers than the NBA.
  7. I do not disagree. It seems as though there is a very large contingent of those affiliated with the WNBA (players, coaches, etc.) who do not really understand the business of sports entertainment. We sports fans will pay to watch those who are among the best in the world at what they do. The NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL have evolved to highlight and protect its stars - the money makers. Clark is among the best in the world at what she does. Moreover, she's one of the most pleasant, deferential, and respectful players in any league. And that's why we pay to watch. The data supports that she's the biggest draw, and many of her colleagues are too ignorant or arrogant to believe that she's a rising tide that can lift all boats. Rather than hate her and beat her up, the players should embrace her and try to emulate some of her off-court behavior. It is not weakness to say "She's really good. We go way back. I like her game," or the like. It's becoming another part of that rising tide. Compete fairly on the court; embrace and emulate her off-court behavior; profit. I honestly think many of these players might just be too stupid to realize that jumping on her bandwagon would be self-beneficial.
  8. He’s such a man-child. Drives me crazy that he calls Newsom Newscum. Among other things.
  9. Need to bring over a couple of her recent greatest hits from the Clark thread.
  10. You'd think someone, somewhere within the organization would say, "Hey, this is kinda weird. Let's rethink it." Like, maybe Trev Alberts. There are a lot of top Ag/Vet schools around the country that also participate in D1 athletics: OkState, Purdue, Florida, VaTech, NCState, etc. Each has its idiosyncrasies, but nothing like this. I'll even give a pass for the photos with Reveille, as it's the school mascot. Any other random animal is just weird. Nothing new here, just felt like typing it out.
  11. Flying AA from AUS to LAX this week. high likelihood of success. Direct.
  12. As noted around 4 pages earlier, the email from Texas with a link to shirts showed up fast. Best part about the shirts: 2025 NCAA Softball National Champions Second best part about the shirts: No sign of the garish SEC icon anywhere to be seen.
  13. Doesn't privilege extend beyond death? Unless the client specifically allows something different? /NotALawyer
  14. Sucks really bad - devastating. So horrible for the family. Hit the "like" emoji, but I definitely do not like the news.
  15. Searched and did not seem to find a good thread for this. So I will start one anew. Old-ish garage door opener tries to go down when already in the down position. Not feeling like DIY-ing it right now. My most recent garage door contractor sold out, but it is not clear who he sold out to. I've seen good reviews on Cedar Park Overhead Door. What say the masses? Let's crowd-source this...
  16. It is 100% thankless. And I felt the same way after some seasons. Most of the time, the $25 post-season coach gift card to academy and the team photo was an adequate salve
  17. Did our advice work? J/K. Hope you did not lose all hope. My youngest is 20. Never thought we'd all survive to today.
  18. Not sure if this is the right thread, but ESPN has an article titled, "Potential Trade Offers for top 2025 Pick Cooper Flagg." https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/45425353/potential-trades-top-2025-nba-draft-pick-cooper-flagg-dallas-mavericks Spoilered below. IMO, there is no way you trade that pick. You draft Flagg and roll with the punches. Kind of a silly article, but someone needs to fill the bits and bytes of ESPN.com.
  19. Finished this one today. Appreciate the way Larson handles non-fiction.
  20. Visited Hudson Valley for work and stayed for an extended weekend. Looking NW over the Hudson River from the pedestrian bridge in Poughkeepsie.
  21. Just finished these two in the past couple of weeks: Both were fascinating, esp. Titan. In the preface, Chernow highlights that he was initially resistant to a book on Rockefeller, but discovered a 1700 page transcript of interviews that JDR had during the last 3 years of his life. They showed a far more interesting and down to earth person than he had expected. I highly recommend Titan.
