  1. If you squint hard enough Sean Miller is a solid floor setting hire that should be considerably cheaper than the no brainers. Went on a run at Arizona where they went to the S16 five of seven years and won the conference five of eight years. I'm at least curious what he'd do in the NIL era at Texas.
  2. I completely agree in a normal year but man the crop of coaches that are realistic makes Lloyd look like Coach K.
  3. Fastest coach to 50 wins and either a conference tournament or regular season championship in the first 3 years if his career. Also add 2 sweet 16s so far. Thats better than most we have talked about.
  4. Damn I'm getting old
  5. Happy we're in but this bloated bracket really kills the importance of playing regular season games. I'll never get worked up about losing to a team like South Carolina ever again
  6. And I'm not comparing our crowd to Kansas for the record. But his old boss Mark Few would likely have good reviews about the new environment at Moody.
  7. Heres Lloyd calling out his fan base after the kansas game yesterday. Maybe it's not too far fetched for him to leave for a job like Texas.. surlyx.com/PHNX_Wildcats/status/1898576979902738709?t=TOlh3W2uGZoFTy67uSUCow&s=19
  8. Beards history has made him a no go for Indiana. Its gonna take him a few more cycles to get the bigger jobs he's wanting.
  9. Miller would be fine with the current state of the program/cbb as a whole but the biggest negative is his age. Too young to be a 5-7 year stop gap and will be good enough to make an E8 in year 2 and not get fired until he's in his mid 60s. Also our fans will always know him as the guy who lost to RT forced us to hire him in the first place.
  10. The answer is Luka.
  11. The 2022 team wasn't perfect but we got boned in that Purdue game. Then we would have had a S16 game against #15 St Peters to worry about.
  12. The Shaka love is wild to me. He has only gotten out of the first weekend once since his Final Four run in 2011 and proceeded to lose to NC State in the S16 last year. He has also only won his conference regular season once. He underperforms in the regular season and in the tournament but apparently we were all wrong in wanting him gone.
  13. This sets us up for Arch at #1 next year so that's neat
  14. Damn was halfway through my dream staff with him.
  15. Probably is our Golden replacement. Not huge speed but hands seem to be really good when contested. He obviously had the huge drop against us that was going to be a TD but from what i could tell that what only his 3rd drop of the year.
  16. That's awesome. Love those stories
  17. He coached under Dean Smith for a decade at UNC where they won a championship and rarely missed the s16 or better. Played under Bob Knight for 4 years and won the NIT while it was still a big deal. Also coached under him for a season and won a championship at Indiana as the assistant. Dan Hurley's father is one of the greatest HS basketball coaches of all time. Also Rhode Island had not made a tournament or won a game in almost 20 years up to that point. McCollum may be the guy going forward but playing under Steve Tappmeyer and coaching with Doig Moe doesn't bring much confidence. He needs a few more years at the D1 level to get a high major job.
  18. With all eyes on August and a rematch with Ohio State let's look at how Texas has fared against the reigning National Champions. The 3 selectors used were the AP, Coaches, and FWAA final polls. Overall Record: 9-7-1 Regular Season Record: 5-6-1 Postseason Record: 4-1 Home Record: 2-0 Road Record: 2-1 Neutral Record: 5-6-1 1939 - H TCU W 25-19 1940 - H Texas A&M W 7-0 1951- N Oklahoma W 9-7 1952- N Tennessee W 16-0 Cotton Bowl 1956 -N Oklahoma L 0-45 1957 - N Oklahoma L 7-21 1961 -N Ole Miss W 12-7 Cotton Bowl (FWAA) 1965 - A Arkansas- L 24-27 (FWAA) 1975 - N Oklahoma L 17-14 1976 - N Oklahoma T 6-6 1986- N Oklahoma L 12-47 1990 - N Miami L 3-46 Cotton Bowl 1996 - N Nebraska W 37-27 Big 12 Title 1998 - A Nebraska W 20-16 (Coaches Poll) 2001 - N Oklahoma L 3-14 2005 - N USC W 41-38 BCS National Championship 2024- A Michigan W 31-21 2025- A Ohio State ???? Honorable Mention- Alabama was named the 1964 Champions pre bowl but lost in the 1965 Orange bowl to Texas 21-17.
  19. It will likely be tOSU in a multi score win but if history continues the last two national championship runner ups both beat Texas in a close game some point during the year. 2022- TCU beats Texas 17-10 2023- Washing Beats Texas 37-31 2024- tOSU beats Texas 28-14 (effectively another 1 score game outside of the fumble) This is unrelated to actual matchup but its a quirky stat that should give ND fans some hope.
  20. Ryan Grubb from Washington is available after the Seahawks let him go. Red Zone Success- Rankings of TD% in Red Zone 2022 Washington - 43rd Nationally 2023 Washington- 29th nationally 2023 Texas- 120th nationally 2024 Texas- 54th nationally
  21. Been thinking this. We ran sweep with a RB that was incapable of running down a DL over 90 yards
  22. Yep. Day got Kelly to do the same. Who's a great play caller but terrible HC we can hire?
  23. Crazy what a run game does for a team. Huge nads by Quinn to setup the 4th down conversion
