From Verde All Day: The irony of this win over a Son Heung-min and Denis Bouanga-less LAFC is it now makes it more likely Verde will match up against the dynamic duo in the first round of the postseason. With Austin's win, LAFC can't secure the No. 1 seed — Vancouver wins the West with a result on Saturday at home against Dallas — and there's still a scenario in which LAFC could drop all the way to fourth. But it's now most likely — given playoff math scenarios we'll visit later this week — that the 2022 Western Conference final foes are due for a 2025 first-round rematch.

    Nice victory.
  5. Fished the Nueces River out of Camp Wood this weekend. The group ordered barbecue from Canyon BBQ and Grill yesterday evening after a full day float. I didn't expect much coming from a town of just over 500 - I checked it out online before heading down and the barbecue pictures don't look very good. I was quite pleasantly surprised. Brisket looked beautiful, was seasoned well, and cooked perfectly. A little more trimming on the fat cap would have made it even better. Smoked turkey was moist and tender. Smoked boudin was a surprise offering and was nice.
  6. Headed out for a fishing trip and decided to stop for lunch at Eaker Barbecue in Fredericksburg. I plan to sustain myself with barbecue through the weekend, so I got a some brisket and Hatch chile queso sausage to go. Eaker has two types of pork ribs - traditional dry-rubbed and Korean style Gochujang Pork Ribs. I opted for the latter, a slice of moist brisket, and a side of kimchi. The waygu brisket was a little dry and under seasoned. The kimchi was kimchi. The ribs were delicious. The flavor was amazing and the cook was perfect with a good bite. Not sure if I'm be back - mainly due to avoiding Fredericksburg at all costs. Although the brisket was merely welming, I'm glad I tried the Korean ribs.
  7. We walked up to Y Mas at least once a week. With The Posse, Double Daves, Eggroll cart, and Y Mas I gained a few pounds in law school.

When the lineup came out earlier this year, we decided to sit this year out. Then the Killers replaced Doja and I received an immediate text from the wife. Got tickets to Sunday W1 for her to see the Killers. I didn't know any of the other acts - but learning new bands is one of the things I like about music festivals. Listened to the acts on Spotify off and on for a few weeks and narrowed it down. This is how it ended up: Got to Zilker around 1:00 and my wife was immediately turned around because of a non-conforming backpack. I took the chairs and set up in the shade under the tree across from the beer tent. From there we listened Lamont Landers, Chezile, Anderson East, The Dare, and most of Rainbow Kitten Surprise. I wandered around a bit and caught some of Geto Gala and Flowerovlove. Packed up and headed to the Beatbox stage and set up under the tree for Wild Rivers. When Wild Rivers was done, we headed over to the AmEx stage to prepare for the Killers. T-Pain was up and it was crowded. Parked the chairs at the back, listened to T-Pain, and waited for it to clear out at the end of his set. Moved up closer for the Killers show and listened to MK Gee in the interim. The Killers opened with a decent rendition of Whiskey River and then played a bunch of songs that my wife knew and a few that I recognized. It was the least attended final act that I have witnessed with most of the yutes opting for John Summit. Enjoyed everyone except MK Gee, but that was just background. All-in-all a decent day.
  9. @immamac will be a legend in the University of Florida - Lambda Chi Alpha storybook for ever. Pledges will be told of the Longhorn Jesus who revealed himself with offerings of lager and ale, partied through the night, donned a CPAP and crashed on the couch, then vanished at the mere break of dawn never to be heard from again.
  10. Found this beast of a DeKay's Brown in my garden this morning.

He was there a couple years ago, but he played a couple hours before the headliner. I enjoyed Luke Combs' performance.

I think Dr. Dog comes on after Luke Combs.

  14. Eastern Hognose (harmless). Google and other AI tools are usually wrong. You should help it out of the pool. It'll drown if it can't get out.
  15. I started playing the cornet roughly 43 years ago and played up until 41 years ago, so this hits close to home.

Remember - if you're not sweating it out at Zilker Park, there are two channels on Hulu showing ACL.

Yeah. The sets overlap except for a 15 minute window. I'll probably watch RKS for 30 minutes or so and then head back to AmEx and watch the end of Wet Leg's set.

As noted above, I'll be there on Sunday. Camped out between the AmEx and Lady Bird stages.
  19. I cancelled my wife's subscription a couple months ago for the same reason. Within a couple weeks, they sent me a offer for $4.99/mo.
  20. If a utility company came on my property to access an easement, I would ask to see the survey or plans showing the easement. All too often, the contractor for the utility company goes well beyond the easement. If they are doing serious work like trenching, I would ask that it be surveyed and staked. The easements on my property run along the property line, so I know the boundaries. Easements that crisscross the property are harder to identify.

Had to buy tickets for Sunday so the wife could see the Killers. I don't think I have heard of another performer on the schedule. After listening to a couple songs from most of the artists (I have to listen some more), these are the ones on my radar: Lamont Landers Tyler Ballgame or Disciples of Christ (I like the OG rap vibe) Anderson East or Bebe Stockwell The Dare Rainbow Kitten Surprise or Wet Leg Wild Rivers or Gigi Perez Passion Pit MK Gee The Killers Will set up camp between AmEx and Lady Bird and wander around for the performers on other stages.
