  1. When I checking out possible law schools I visited Baylor. Walking across campus there were bible verses written in chalk all over the sidewalks. I don't know if that is all the time or if it was just a one-off, but it definitely was not for me.
  2. She's actually much better looking when she smiles and doesn't have that horrible Dedra hair. I think she was only allowed to smirk once in the entire series - the rest of the time she had on the gold standard resting bitch face.
  3. IIRC most of it was filmed in Canada. That's why in S1 E1 Joel had a yard full of pine trees at his Austin house. I suspect most of the city scenes were filmed on a set with CGI enhancements.
  4. My then girlfriend, now wife, and I had Kreuz in college when it was still at the old location (Smitty's current location). That was my first road trip for barbecue. Kreuz is actually my first memory of Texas barbecue as we ate there in the early 80s when my family was in Lockhart visiting graves of relatives in the Lockhart City Cemetery. My grandmother made a statement that someone in our family started Kreuz, but I can't make the link to Kreuz, Schmidt, or Sweringen if it actually exists. ETA: Charles Kreuz, Sr. was married to Christine Marie Sophia Rose. My grandmother's middle name was Rose. Hmm.

FIFY, unfortunately. There have been many unsold tickets this year. I love our tickets and have great relationships with the people around us that have all been there since the first season. I don't see dropping season tickets, even though I could easily save money by just buying individual game tickets. That will change again and I'll be glad I still have our season tickets.
  7. I was watching KXAN over the lunch hour. They aren't just running a story, they're dropping a full length documentary. I guess I'll have to download KXAN+.
  8. That's essentially what they do now other than they rank the top 10. Top 50 plus Honorable Mention = Top 100.
  9. I bought one of those '68 Hemisfair plates because they are cool as hell
  10. Bless their hearts.
  11. Texas hasn't beat OU in Oklahoma or in the CWS since 7 minutes ago.
  12. My wife is a big fan of The Killers. Also a big fan of Cher and Yanni.
  13. Agreed. Season 3 Finale: Jesse accidentally kills Gale, a pivotal event that impacts Gus Fring's power and Walt's own future. vs. Walt makes a sandwich . . . fade to black.
  14. Texas has classic and antique. Antique is more restricted - like car shows, etc. Classic does not have the restrictions. You can also run year of manufacture plates with no restrictions. I have been running YOM for 20 years on my '69. I have at least four more pairs as backups.
  15. Black-necked gartersnake in Texas.
  16. Like the Texas Indigo snake, Texas Patch-nosed Snake, and Texas Coralsnake.
  17. You would think the directional names would be helpful, but its crazy in Central Texas - Western Ribbonsnake, Western Ratsnake, Western Diamond-backed Rattlesnake, Western Coachwhip Eastern Hog-nosed, Eastern Yellow-bellied Racer, Eastern Copperhead Northern Cottonmouth
  18. Its an Eastern if you are in Central Texas.
  19. That hognose probably ate toad or two . . . which leads me to a story. In sixth grade, I was pulled out of my first period language arts class by the principal. My locker was located such that it faced the small sixth grade library and the librarian had alerted the principal about suspicious goings on with my locker. But lets back up a bit. The seventh grade science teacher had all kinds of cool stuff in his class, including several reptiles. One such reptile was an Eastern hognose which loved toads. About once a week, me and my buddy would bring a few toads to the science teacher before school. Well, on this particular day, the science teacher was no where to be found and his class was locked. What else is a sixth grader with a bag of toads supposed to do when the bell rings to start first period but place the bag in his locker. After my reasonable explanation to the principal and the librarian, my bag of toads was confiscated and given to the science teacher once he returned to his class the next period. This was the same science teacher that we traded a nice Texas alligator lizard for a six foot Western coachwhip. Can you imagine the uproar today if a teacher gave a sixth grader a six foot snake? *not a euphemism.
  20. We are simply blessed with great barbecue in Texas.
  21. For its beef ribs, InterStellar uses chuck short ribs as opposed to plate short ribs. The plate short ribs are the Dino ribs that come as a three large bone rack. Chuck short ribs are slightly smaller and usually come it a four bone rack. When slicing, InterStellar removes one of the four ribs which allows them to serve three equally sized ribs. It's nice since they are not one and a half pounds each. They are still big enough to split with others with a tray of other meats. @dcbc should probably order two, though.
  22. Last few times I've been the parking lot is full and you can see a line inside the glass doors. Get inside and its a bunch of hipsters getting coffee at 11:30 in the morning. No line, no waiting for barbecue.
  23. Yeah. Always check the use by date.
