  1. I would put Reservation Dogs in the top 10 or so series in the past couple decades.
  2. Definitely try Coney I-lander which has been around almost 100 years. I grew up eating at the Southroads location on 41st as my grandparents lived a few blocks away. If Guadaloopy says try Ike's, I'd try that too.
  3. I use flat iron steaks, cubed instead of sliced, and call it carne asada.
  4. A bit about Apple's MLS coverage, they do a great job of making all of the games accessible and easy to watch. A couple of the high points: 1) they have twice as many cameras in each stadium than the previous coverage*; 2) if you come to a game already in progress, there is a "catch-up" button that will show the key plays right up until the live coverage; and 3) all matches are available to watch on demand either by watching the entire game or via key plays that take about 7 minutes per match. On most weekends, I will run through the key plays of all of the Western Conference matches if not all of the matches. *Its great for replays at different angles. However, they sometimes aimlessly focus on a single player or even someone on the sideline while the game is going - I tend to yell at the TV a couple times per match for this.
  5. I had green eggs and ham and green beer there after a St. Patty's day run about 25 years ago.
  6. It's an awful strategy to get casual watchers to watch more. For what it's worth, the MLS playoff games are free to Apple TV subscribers, so no MLS Season Pass paywall. MLS Season Pass on Apple TV offers a great product. Season ticket holders have been getting MLS Season Pass for free, but I'd probably pay for it if I had to.
  7. Watched Lost Bus last night. Wasn't a great movie, but I did like how it told the story of the Camp fire using the bus full of kids as the medium.
  8. Nothing gets past you.
  9. Is this the place that was once connected to 2M somehow?
  10. Do not mention that in the sausage thread.
  11. From the line at InterStellar Barbecue. Fight!
  12. I have a buddy that would buy a cheap mountain bike at a local pawn shop, take the jetty boat to the North Jetty, then ride on the hard sand for 15 miles or so. Not quite as far as Cedar Bayou, but close.
  13. I think Shane Gills is relatively funny, but he isn't close to a king of comedy.
  14. If you listen close enough, you can hear Dueling Banjos coming from those pictures. Look funs as hell.

Austin's season has been up and down, but they have done good enough to lock in 6th place in the West. Along the way, they've tied and lost to several teams they should have beaten (CF Montreal, Colorado, Real Salt Lake, Dallas, Houston). On the other hand, and more importantly to me, they have 4 wins, 2 losses, and a tie against the three teams that they could possibly meet in the playoffs (LAFC, MN, and San Diego). Austin could have gotten to 6th by beating the lessor teams and losing against the better teams. Walking on the pitch against our playoff opponent with the confidence that comes with those earlier wins and draws makes a huge difference IMHO. Listos!

    That's how it starts.
  18. Maybe start a potato and sausage taco thread.

From Verde All Day: The irony of this win over a Son Heung-min and Denis Bouanga-less LAFC is it now makes it more likely Verde will match up against the dynamic duo in the first round of the postseason. With Austin's win, LAFC can't secure the No. 1 seed — Vancouver wins the West with a result on Saturday at home against Dallas — and there's still a scenario in which LAFC could drop all the way to fourth. But it's now most likely — given playoff math scenarios we'll visit later this week — that the 2022 Western Conference final foes are due for a 2025 first-round rematch.

    Nice victory.
  21. Fished the Nueces River out of Camp Wood this weekend. The group ordered barbecue from Canyon BBQ and Grill yesterday evening after a full day float. I didn't expect much coming from a town of just over 500 - I checked it out online before heading down and the barbecue pictures don't look very good. I was quite pleasantly surprised. Brisket looked beautiful, was seasoned well, and cooked perfectly. A little more trimming on the fat cap would have made it even better. Smoked turkey was moist and tender. Smoked boudin was a surprise offering and was nice.
  22. Headed out for a fishing trip and decided to stop for lunch at Eaker Barbecue in Fredericksburg. I plan to sustain myself with barbecue through the weekend, so I got a some brisket and Hatch chile queso sausage to go. Eaker has two types of pork ribs - traditional dry-rubbed and Korean style Gochujang Pork Ribs. I opted for the latter, a slice of moist brisket, and a side of kimchi. The waygu brisket was a little dry and under seasoned. The kimchi was kimchi. The ribs were delicious. The flavor was amazing and the cook was perfect with a good bite. Not sure if I'm be back - mainly due to avoiding Fredericksburg at all costs. Although the brisket was merely welming, I'm glad I tried the Korean ribs.
  23. We walked up to Y Mas at least once a week. With The Posse, Double Daves, Eggroll cart, and Y Mas I gained a few pounds in law school.

When the lineup came out earlier this year, we decided to sit this year out. Then the Killers replaced Doja and I received an immediate text from the wife. Got tickets to Sunday W1 for her to see the Killers. I didn't know any of the other acts - but learning new bands is one of the things I like about music festivals. Listened to the acts on Spotify off and on for a few weeks and narrowed it down. This is how it ended up: Got to Zilker around 1:00 and my wife was immediately turned around because of a non-conforming backpack. I took the chairs and set up in the shade under the tree across from the beer tent. From there we listened Lamont Landers, Chezile, Anderson East, The Dare, and most of Rainbow Kitten Surprise. I wandered around a bit and caught some of Geto Gala and Flowerovlove. Packed up and headed to the Beatbox stage and set up under the tree for Wild Rivers. When Wild Rivers was done, we headed over to the AmEx stage to prepare for the Killers. T-Pain was up and it was crowded. Parked the chairs at the back, listened to T-Pain, and waited for it to clear out at the end of his set. Moved up closer for the Killers show and listened to MK Gee in the interim. The Killers opened with a decent rendition of Whiskey River and then played a bunch of songs that my wife knew and a few that I recognized. It was the least attended final act that I have witnessed with most of the yutes opting for John Summit. Enjoyed everyone except MK Gee, but that was just background. All-in-all a decent day.
