  1. At your age, staying limber and flexible can help so much more than high intensity heavy weight exercise. Do stretching/yoga 4/5 days per week for about 15 minutes in the AM. You’re around my mom age and she does this. She has always had issues with her back but through routine stretching, she’s still up downhill skiing with the teenagers and 20 year olds. Thing is, older folks can still do all the things younger folks can do, only to a lesser extreme IF your joints and muscles are stretched appropriately. If you pull a muscle, your body has a harder time recovering than a 20 or 30 year old. You’re really doing what you need to be doing to be successful. Just keep your diet in check and you’re good!
  2. Truth is the best BBQ in Houston. Pinkerton's just isn't that good in my opinion and has gone downhill since they opened their place in San Antonio.
  3. Depends on how much you weigh honestly. I went from 315 lbs to 210 in about 9 months using IF.
  4. Had it in Jan 2021. Double vaxxed in April 2021 and not boosted. Tested negative before Christmas from PCR but felt like shit. I’m assuming it was the cron and just had a false negative test. If I had to choose, I’d rather catch omicron than the next variant as this one is pretty mild based on the available data. Give me all the natural immunity.
  5. Protein absorption. There's no conclusive evidence that points to having to spread out protein consumption throughout the day. So many different studies have been done that have said yes and no that it's inconclusive.
  6. I would feel like absolute shit if I ate 275g of protein in a day. You realllllly don’t need that much. It’s expensive and unnecessary. Stick to 200g (which is 800 calories) and fill in with 250g of carbs (1000 calories) and the remaining with fat (9 calories per gram).
  7. No it doesn’t. This has been proven as “bro science”. People with incredible disciple to count their macros can eat 50g of protein 4 times per day and lose weight. These folks control their fat intake and regulate carb intake up and down throughout the day to coincide with when they hit the gym. 275g of protein per day is an absolute ridiculous amount of protein and not necessary IMO.
  8. Just got my test back and kid’s test back. Both negative. 3 days later. Good turnaround time on these tests 😂. I managed to be given two take home tests and may take one this afternoon.
  9. Son's teacher popped positive yesterday (she wasn't at the school yesterday). Two or three kids are absent from his class too. My wife has been feeling unusually tired this last week as well. I have been feeling a bit off the last few days - just feeling a bit fatigued, muscles sore, almost like a hangover. Wife and I are double vaxxed back in April and had COVID in January/February 2021. Our son gave it to us via daycare. Wife supposed to be running the half marathon on Sunday. When we had the rona last year, the brain fog was absolutely awful - almost 3 weeks of some sort of "out of body" experience. Currently feeling just a bit of it for the last 24 hours or so. Kid isn't running a fever but maybe a little less energetic. We all 3 took PCRs yesterday and should get the results back this afternoon or tomorrow. We'll see.
  10. One of the many reasons why eating out while trying to lose weight is incredibly difficult. Good luck. If you do eat out, you can find chain restaurants have saved nutrition info in MFP. Correct, I just guess most of the time. I err on the side of putting in too much into MFP. If something is a cup and I do a heaping cup, I'll put in 1.25 cups. Nice job everybody on the progress so far. Keep at it!
  11. Corrigan, TX. 59 drops from 75 to 55 to 45 to 35 in a matter of a mile and a half going north from Houston to Tyler. Got busted for hitting 58 in a 55. Actually laughed at the cop when he starting writing the ticket.

  13. 100% agree. I thought I was getting enough protein in my diet and properly hitting my macros. Decided to order a food scale on Amazon to get a better idea of what I was eating. I went from 188 to 180 just by weighing out my food for a 2500 calorie diet and counting calories using MyFitnessPal. Their macro function is pretty cool too. Just scan the barcode, enter the weight, and eat. I also stopped eating condiments that have calories. Gotten into different hot sauces. Pickles are absolutely amazing for a snack if you’re hungry as well.
  14. I’m smoking a 3.5 pound chuck roast and taking it to 185 internal and using that as my base for chili on Friday. Should take around 4 hours at 300 degrees. Adding in a pound of smoked ground breakfast sausage COOKED. All meats are cooked prior to combining for me. Honestly, if I was doing a chuck roast, I’d take it to 195 or so. I’d cook it differently if I was doing just a chuck roast to eat alone (would put it in a pan with onions, potatoes, carrots and beef broth). Taking it to 185, it won’t be done for chili but it cooks it mostly through in order for me to cube it up and it will fall apart tender when I cook it for four hours: I’ll char the onion, poblano and red bell pepper on the grill prior to cutting and putting in pot as well. 3.5 pound chuck roast will yield 2.5 lbs of beef 1 lb of breakfast sausage Depending on yield of chuck roast, I may add a pound of ground beef 1 large onion, 1 poblano, 1 red bell pepper, 1 or 2 chipotle pepper in ancho (depending on how hot I want it), 2 tablespoons minced garlic, 2 cans of HEB fire roasted garlic tomatoes All purpose seasoning (salt, pepper, garlic), chili powder, worstishire (sp?) sauce, cholula sauce, and a quart and a half of beef broth. Maybe a couple tablespoons of tomato paste. the most important ingredient: no fucking beans. Let it simmer until it thickens up (usually around 4 or 5 hours).
  15. I didn’t realize how many folks around here drank alcohol. I haven’t had any alcohol in over a year. Cutting out booze definitely helps maintain weight loss. So many extra calories you don’t realize you’re consuming.
  16. As someone who lost a ton of weight by changing my relationship with food, best piece of advice I can give to you all is you can’t outrun a bad diet. Diet is 90% of weight loss. 10% is exercise. “Fit” people who look fit are counting their calories regardless of whether they want to lose weight or not. Get your mind right and losing weight is easy.
  17. If someone wants to make a ‘22 thread, by all means. I’m going to stop OMAD and start eating lunch. I was 178 lbs after gorging myself on chocolate covered peanut butter balls over the Christmas holidays. Time to gain some weight! Stopping OMAD and going to try and gain 10/15 lbs. Clean carbs and lots of protein.
  18. Recently installed bidet that we received for xmas. I’m fully prepared.
  19. I've seen them at HEB out with the other regular cuts and have bought them on occasion. If you don't see them out, ask the guy behind the counter when they typically get their cuts in (could be every Tuesday/Thursday or whatever). Ask him to hold one for you.
  20. Jamison thinks getting physical with receivers is a laughable event.
  21. Thanks for the advice. Not DYING to get my time as low as possible but I'll take these into account. The only thing I don't really do is the interval training and sprints. I've stopped squatting so heavy at the gym (mainly just train volume for now). I use runkeeper and religiously do so already. I stretch probably 30 minutes or so prior to races! I may try a warm up jog for Sunday though. Thanks again!
