  1. Texas has a shot at being good again in 5 or 6 years. 3 years to can Sark, and then 2-3 years for his successor. It's a good time to be a whiskey distributor in Austin.
  2. Cars don't kill people, guns kill people. No, wait...
  3. I've got no problem with charging him with whatever will stick, ideology be damned. What really pisses me off, though, is that hardly anybody seems to give a fuck about the fact that he was only on the streets able to commit whatever you want to label this crime because we don't take domestic violence seriously in this country. He was a multiple offender in that regard. Should have been in prison, if we as a society actually gave a damn.
  4. Kool-aid drinkin' time! Show me a loss, baby! (We need a Texas rollercoaster meme, now that I think about it.)
  5. About a year ago, I watched a documentary on Cuban history, and it made me a little more (not a lot, just a little) sympathetic to the Cuban-American closed-minded, slavish, cult-like conservatism. I mean, Bautista was a ruthless murdering son of a bitch, but so was every other ruler Cuba has had since the Spanish arrived. If their families benefitted from Bautista's corruption, well, the Godfather inspired loyalty, too.
  6. I typically reserve neg repping for outrageously offensive material, or for people who complain about neg rep. But I am beginning to get so tired of people acting all innocent about posting antidemocratic horseshit that I definitely see where you are coming from.
  7. Dictionary.com on "fascism": Hmmm... Nothing in there about instituting quarantine measures for public safety. What am I missing? By your standards, paying for a fire department with tax revenue would be fascist.
  8. Because masks are like gas chambers. Get with the program.
  9. I'm just wondering how many Holocaust deniers are now comparing good hygiene to the Holocaust.
  10. Listening to these crazy people jabber is like being nibbled to death by ducks.
  11. I was gonna go, but it conflicted with a zoning board meeting in Kathmandu.
  12. I can't decide whether it's more like asking Hitler's ghost to write a history book, or like trying to teach an aardvark long division.
  13. I was looking at the ridiculously low flu stats the other day, and wondering two things: 1) can we keep the masks and ubiquitous hand sanitizer forever, please? and 2) why is it we all know immediately who to blame for the answer to #1 being no?
  14. So much for polite discourse. I couldn't find your answer, btw, but it hardly matters. Unless your answer was "I was wrong," then it's just more dissembling drivel.
  15. Truthfully, it's hard to draw a distinction between willful stupidity and blatant dishonesty. Either way, it's dangerous to our democracy.
  16. He won't backtrack to see what you're talking about, so I'll repeat it for ya: Ag with kids: "Republicans don't blame illegals for covid." (Insert example of Abbott blaming illegals for covid, though you could dig up equivalent quotes from Trump, MTG, Gohmert, Cruz et al.) hobbes2702: "WTF?"
  17. All of them. That's not an impeachment, it was a trial. This isn't some "gotcha", it is a statement of fact that obviates your claim of both-siderism and somehow the insurrection of January 6 was no big deal because reasons. You are very, very bad at logic.
  18. Well aren't you just a ray of sunshine. I wouldn't bet against this new variant being able to survive at absolute zero, and for one of the many theories suggesting another Big Bang turn out to be true, and covid will therefore get to fuck up a whole other timeline.
  19. "Me flunk English? That unpossible!" Jesus, dude, that's the exact opposite of what he's saying. And in context... House impeaches. Senate tries. A trial is not an indictment nor is it an impeachment. Now go clean your room. Your mom is tired of stepping on your Legos.
  20. When I reflect on the fact that Rome spent a lot more time as an empire than as a republic, I haz a sad. And they didn't have covid to fuck things up.
  21. Character matters. It's not my only issue when I step into the voting booth, but it is the prequalifier for my vote. Babs here would not make the cut if I were in her district.
