  1. Good call! How long's the list? My preference is short barrels, but I only shoot clays in preparation for hunting season. Favorite 20 has 26" barrels.
  2. If you're actually going after the upland birds, go with 20 gauge...no reason to carry the extra pound and a half all day in the field, and the right load in a 20 will stone a pheasant that's far downwind. They also swing better than a 12 at the towers. I rarely use my 12 gauges, because the 20's are very capable guns. Now that I live in Washington and drive past fields of geese and ditches full of ducks, the 12's will see some action. All of my smooth bores are Berettas, some bought new 45 years ago...they are fine pieces, and I have never had any problems with them. You can go way upscale with them and get the pretty engraving, but i'm more of a 'slither under the barbwire with the breech cracked' kind of guy.
  3. Rocket launch in upper right?
  4. Yup, my wifes' favorite. Probably going to make the drive down to Portland to get their store pick....they've got 22 bottles left.
  5. All three. There used to be an issue of them robbing trains as they traversed the mojave desert. The SA's would stop the train in the middle of nowhere and round them up, there was no place for them to escape to.
  6. Union Pacific, in an attempt at fattening their bottom line, fired the majority of their police force a couple of years ago.
  7. Honestly, not much happening on the Merced in the winter. It's actually pretty slow in the summer, too. East Walker and Hot Creek on the east side work in the winter, but Tioga Pass usually closes before Thanksgiving and opens mid April, so you really can't easily get there from the valley. Also. the Owens outside of Bishop is doable in the dead of winter, same access issue though. The Ahwahnee is great, but worn. Doesn't seem to make a difference it's still hard to get a booking there. Reservations open a year out.
  8. So the NC State coach has declared that his team won the Holiday Bowl for their 10th win because UCLA forfeited, contrary to the NCAA's & ACC's thoughts on this. Turns out he gets a $150K bonus for a 10 win season.
  9. 6" last night, but the temp is up 20 degrees or so. Thaw is supposed to start Saturday. But the county doesn't plow down here on the south end of our island...lots of ice on the road, and numerous vehicles upside down in the ditches.
  10. Ha! Currently 13 degrees 212 miles north of Portland on the sound. Won't break freezing for another 4 days. Snowed 6 inches on Christmas, but clear as a bell now. Happy I took the time to split some of my bucked maple before the holiday cheer was uncorked.
  11. Great thread...I'll contribute when I sober up....
  12. I'm an SC alum....One of my classes had a rather skanky blond in it. Imagine my amazement when said rather skanky blond showed up in class with the song girl sweater, dress, and new pancake face, appearing rather attractive. Totally amazed at the transformation.
  13. Can't believe nobody complained about Petros....who, I think, is one of the most knowledgable fox color commentators, whatever you think of his voice.
  14. Yup...probably gets sideways stunningly fast, too...
  15. MB Sprinter can't source electric doors latches...built vehicles will be released in June or July.
  16. Not quite what? We're growing oysters on our tidelands. Hey...how are those Sonics doing?
  17. A point about 'Producers'....oftentimes being credited as a producer is a ploy to increase ones wages on the production, either as a tax advantage or as a means to avoid a mandated wage ceiling, sometimes union scale, often studio salary parameters. Just because one is labeled 'producer' on a show, it doesn't mean that said person has anything to do with the daily happenings on set. Heck, I was on a show with 24 writers, about half of them were 'producers'. None of them ever saw the set.
  18. Funny how you think that stating facts is 'running interference'.
  19. Good point, and again I have to point out how cheap a 'tier one' budget production is. The DP (director of photography) is usually behind the camera, or their 2nd is. Whoever is back there is normally protected by a 'protection piece' which is a 4 x 10 piece of 3/4" lexan with a hole cut into it for the lens, which hangs from C stands. The director is usually off to the side, behind a bank of monitors (video village) that capture the images of every camera rolling on the set. The fact that this wasn't the scenario is telling, and I think that these elements not being in place on the set is probably due to budget. As to your second point, out of state production has been a big thing for years due to tax incentives, and IATSE, which has strong safety protocols. casts a wide net in their jurisdiction, so I wouldn't think there is a direct correlation re: safety / out of state production.. The low budget 'tiers' have always been an issue amongst union members...although they pay crap wages, the hours accrued on a low budget show count the same as a normal production, allowing the worker to earn enough hours to achieve union membership.
  20. So as a recent new resident of Washington state, I was surprised to learn that this state is the only state in the nation where you own the tidewaters...aka where the oysters live. We currently are growing about 1,000 of them, harvestable next year.
