  1. FSU did just that last year, beating OU in the first game 8-4. OU came back and won games 2 and 3 of course. Record is 0 - 0. It'll be fun!
  2. Not the point. It seems that Alo remembers.
  3. "Jocelyn Alo's college career will end against Mike White, the coach who took away a scholarship offer from her" It's okay. Alo doesn't really remember or care or anything. https://tulsaworld.com/sports/college/ou/jocelyn-alos-college-career-will-end-against-mike-white-the-coach-who-took-away-a/article_098eae7a-e68d-11ec-8fcc-8faa2d1dc51f.html
  4. As an OU fan, UCLA's pitching depth made them the biggest challenge in WCWS. Good game, at least the first one.
  5. https://www.baylor.edu/studentactivities/index.php?id=943397 If Baylor didn't have a Greek scene, it would strengthen my point.
  6. Two private schools that share a lot in common, USC an Baylor. The only things I can think of is strong Greek life and recent scandals that got their top administration fired.
  7. High variance sport and all that. That said, OU's average score vs ranked teams is now 6.8 - 2, almost the same as last year vs ranked opponents, and the same as today's score. Consistency. Trautwein did a great job avoiding walks, which has been an issue for her at times.
  8. Their stacking awesome classes now and having quality players transfer out. The Bama-football comparison is apt. Makes me wonder if there is another draw.
  9. Apparently, OU's softball NIL is, on a relative level, better than OU football.
  10. Yeah, I have a sense that Gasso is deep with whatever the equivalent of the "street agent" game is for softball. She gets a lot of great players who would seem to be a natural fit for UCLA, the Arizona schools, UW, or Oregon. The other thing is that Gasso outwardly pushes is religion. You'll see that in her post-games frequently.
  11. She's my favorite player. Her passion lifts the rest of the dugout.
  12. And in the first game, Bahl gave up only 7 total bases (including walks, HBP) in 7 innings (total over 13 innings, 20) = 1.5 per inning. By the same metric, Trautwein, gave up 1.9 over 2.2 innings May gave up 3.5 over 2.1 innings.
  13. If/when Trautwein gets into trouble, it'll be interesting to see if Gasso brings in Bahl or May. Bahl (13 innings) and Trautwein (2.1 innings) did considerably better than May vs the Horns in Austin. Should be a great game.
  14. I'd be surprised if it's not Trautwein.
  15. Arkansas seems like a true program on the rise. Process is more important than results. Deifel's best days are ahead of her. This is when you want to get her.
  16. The consistency of this team is its most remarkable feature. OU's average score vs ranked opponents this year is 6.79 to 2.0 (over 14 games). They're 12-2 in those games with five run rules. Opponents have scored more than 2 runs only four times (3, 4-loss, 4-loss, 8), and the Sooners have scored less than 5 runs only four times (2-loss, 3-loss, 3, 4). One of the cool things about OU's 2021 national championship was that they came back and beat each of the four teams that beat them (GA-run rule, Ok St-run rule, James Madison, and FSU).
  17. That would be a great get don't you think?
  18. This may be true if limited to UT, but Monica Abbott and even Alo this year are 4x All-Americans. I'm guessing there are several others.
  19. The stadium was named for old Cardinal Stadium, which is located at the Kentucky Exposition Center, but with corporate naming rights formerly providing a prefix to the main name. John Schnatter, a native of nearby Jeffersonville, Indiana, donated $5 million for the naming rights to the stadium, which he used to christen the venue for his Papa John's Pizza chain.[8] Schnatter made a further $10 million donation for the stadium's expansion,[8] and extended the naming rights to the year 2040.[9] The stadium was christened on September 5, 1998; the Cardinals lost the opening game to the Kentucky Wildcats 68–34[10] but won all other home games that year.[10] On July 13, 2018, the stadium was renamed Cardinal Stadium by University of Louisville President Neeli Bendapudi. The change was a reaction to Schnatter using a racial slur on a Papa John's conference call. From Wikipedia.
  20. I can see the point with SEC being overrated, but FSU and VaTech just had great regular seasons. FSU was 15-2 vs ranked competition and beat UCLA, Ok St (x2), UT (TX and TN), FL (x2) amongst those wins. Their run differential really good to if you remove the 23-9 loss VaTech gave them. They were clearly the second best team in the country. VaTech was a really balanced team all year and went 14-7 vs ranked teams and also had a really good differential. The Hokies, UCLA, Az St, or Ark could all have an argument for #3.
  21. Most definitely they will. Just like they claim all of A&M's football titles.
  22. Congratulations on your team reaching its goal! Jefferson is an amazing player and seems like an equally wonderful person. Her records will be hard to top.
  23. Sooner fans anticipate seeing other teams on the other side of the bracket. VaTech is probably the most balanced team left outside of OU. UCLA is the other team to worry about with their deep pitching strength. If FL wins in Blacksburg today, that'll be 3 unseeded teams in that half of the bracket with only #7 Ok St. High variance sports.
  24. I understand the SEC hate, but if you're actually interested in winning the WCWS, FL is the team to cheer for today. With all the caveats of this being a high variance sport, VaTech has proven to be better this year overall. Among the seeded teams still alive, the Gators have the worst pitching and are the only team with negative score differential versus other ranked teams (and unsurprisingly, a losing record, 11-13). For those that aren't fans of OU here, you probably want to root for Arizona State. The Sun Devils have the bats to keep up with the Sooners.
  25. Agree. OU needs more variety in the teams they play in the finals series.
