  1. Home. Here's the trip report. We always go to Vegas this week in July, since it is our anniversary, and by coincidence, it's the same time as NBA summer league. Since most (if not all) the teams and NBA media folks stay at either Wynn or Encore, you can spot players and people in the NBA ecosystem. For instance, I passed within 3 feet of Chams at the Tower Suites bar, and he wears as much makeup in person as he does on TV. Also sat at a bar and watched Ime Udoka and some other staffer leering at chicks asses for a good 10 minutes as they passed by. Arrived Sunday morning around 8, checked in at Wynn (great thing about Wynn is you can check in early and if the room is ready, you can go right up. Other Vegas properties charge you a premium to check in early). Then we walked over to Peppermill for breakfast. I'll spoiler all the food pics so the post will load quicker. Also, as noted above, I unwittingly turned my camera into a potato. Sunday breakfast at Peppermill: Sunday dinner was at Sinatra. Love the place; they even give us the same booth each year. They put out a greeting card for us, which is a nice touch. Monday was a pool day. We get breakfast at the cabana: Monday evening was Joe's Stone Crab at Caesars. No pics, because this is when I realized what I had done to the phone. Tuesday morning at Tableau: Tuesday we visited Player1. For those of you who visited the arcade thread on Daily Texan over the past few weeks, you would enjoy this place. $9 cover charge and you can play everything (including consoles) unlimited. Pinball machines are excluded, but they take quarters. Beer menu is quite extensive. We went intending to spend an hour or so, and at the 4 hour mark, we had to leave. It's a few miles from Wynn, so you would need to taxi over. Highly recommended. Tuesday dinner at Mizumi Teppanyaki Wednesday was pool day again. Breakfast was chicken and waffles from Terrace Pointe. I've had it before...but this was a little disappointing. Wednesday night was La Cave. @Brisketexan Shin Lim was fantastic. The show didn't have a opening act; there is a mentalist (Colin Cloud) who serves as a "narrator" of sorts while intermittently performing his own acts. We sat on the front row, and Shin asked me to volunteer a number between 1 and 5. There was also a card trick the entire audience could participate in. His sleight of hand with other things instead of cards (cash, casino chips) was just head shaking. No photos were allowed during the performance. Thursday morning was Jardin. Pancakes and bacon for me, french toast for her, and a breakfast anniversary dessert. Thursday night was 6666 steakhouse. It's a pop-up Taylor Sheridan concept restaurant at Wynn; they convert Tableau (a breakfast/brunch place) each day into a steakhouse for the night. It's popular enough that they have extended this into semi-permanent status. Odds are they will close some other place in their complex and give it a permanent home. Friday morning was room service. Eggs and sausage for me, some kind of omelette for my bride. Our flight didn't leave until last night, so we had some time to kill. One of the things I had wanted to try was the lunch burger at Peter Lugar's. They only sell it between noon-4 pm, it only comes with an onion (although cheese and/or bacon can be added) and social media photos make it look like the greatest burger ever made. Short answer: might be the greatest burger I've ever eaten. Each patty is 8 oz, and is made up of the trimmings of their dry aged steak. Whatever american cheese they are using is outstanding, and even the damned bun is incredible. Ordered a medium, but wish I had ordered medium rare. I tried a bite with their sauce, and another with ketchup, and quite frankly, it detracted from the meat so much, I can't think of defacing this burger with any condiment. We had fries (which are fried in beef tallow) and an appetizer of their bacon. We will be back for this.
  2. The first pic was from Monday morning. I then took the phone into the pool (as I have many times in the past) and snapped some photos. Then later that day, my camera had become a potato. Blurry, couldn’t focus. I looked and there’s condensation in the lens of not only the back cameras, but the front as well. The second photo is from Wednesday, and it’s focused the best it can. I’ve got an Apple Store appointment Saturday afternoon, and maybe they will be kind to me. I’ll post the food pics when I get home tomorrow morning. Some of those are going to be best described as “an effort was made”. Had I been taking pictures of other things, those would have turned out shitty as well.
  3. I’ll give a scouting report if not tomorrow, when I return. In the meantime life is pretty good:
  4. Morning folks. Another fun filled pool day forthcoming, along with seeing Shin Lim this evening. I’ll post food pics when we get home Saturday.
  5. Grok will probably start singing Daisy as it’s happening.
  6. I'm assuming you were replying to what I had posted. It's from Marc Andreessen. https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2025/07/12/marc-andreessen-private-chat-universities-diversity/
  7. It doesn't matter. Trump said 300,000 kids were missing. By tomorrow, it will be that illegal immigrants kidnapped, raped or killed 300,000 kids under Biden, the media covered it up and that's all that will matter.
  8. At this point, I'm convinced that these tariff letters (and really anything he can sign his name to) are just endorphin releases for Trump. If he's feeling down, he gets someone to create an executive order or a tariff letter or whatever, he signs his name with multiple sharpies and great flourish, and immediately he feels better.
  9. I believe everyone thought that. Now....if Nick has somehow parlayed that act into an ambassadorship, and is currently living out the act, and someday will write a book about his experiences and reveal that it was all a joke and he pulled the wool over the eyes of MAGA and Trump, then that is a true 5D chess long game that he played.
  10. That's the face of a virile, alpha male. The manliness of men. World leaders tremble in his presence. Women swoon. That is the face of America.
  11. Children, huh?
  12. And here you go: https://www.kut.org/politics/2025-07-10/state-sen-angela-paxton-files-for-divorce-from-texas-attorney-general-ken-paxton Also, from the same article. This brings the chuckles.
  13. I'm sure there is a perfectly good explanation for all this. Probably just a misunderstanding.

  15. So glad social media wasn't a thing when I filed, because my ex would have been all over that spouting off shit day and night. Also, this:
