  1. The name 'Chris' is so wasted on this guy. He could of been a great Parker, Preston, Tanner or Tathan.
  2. Huh? What part of this has to do with maturity or responsibility? This is like giving your two week notice at a job in the real world. If you are a disgruntled employee intent on leaving, you don't have any responsibility to listen to anyone at your company. The only thing these guys aren't learning is that outside of college football they are unlikely to have this sort of leverage in the real world.
  3. Buzz makes $3M right now according to this site: https://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/salaries/mens-basketball/coach/ aggy is going to have to make a ridiculous offer for what is at best a lateral move. Honestly, I don't see how we get a proven name without hitting $4M. I am not sure why Beard would drop what he is building in Lubbock anything much less than that.
  4. It comes from an account with 'ag' at the end. If these are lines that actually pay and are set up by an aggy, I would suggest all our resident gamblers get in the game ASAP because this guy probably isn't going to have the funds to make it past the first couple of weekends of the season.
  5. And that's the point. If CDC really thinks Shaka isn't the answer, then potentially the worst move he can make is not moving at all. He could be stuck with a guy he has no faith in, doing just enough to make firing him a PR nightmare all while watching the fundamentals continue to creep downward. If CDC really can't get any back channel interest from the guys he wants, then OK sit tight and hope someone gets the moving bug next season (or more likely he needs to change his list to guys he has a shot at actually hiring). But I find the idea distasteful that finding Shaka a landing spot that reduces our financial exposure is the first order of business. Not sure what sort of high-end coaching candidate wouldn't look at that as a sign of weakness.
  6. So basically you are saying we are stuck with Shaka, knowing he isn't the answer, for at least two more years? CDC proving he knows how to build a winner, well once the buyout is 'reasonable'. Seems like a waste of $6M to pay a guy to coach two more years and pay him another $7M to go away, especially when you have already decided he isn't the answer...
  7. Sad to the see the basketball program has reached such a nadir that we can't fire a failed coach because of money...we are eating the lion share of his contract whether he finds a soft landing or he wastes another year running the problem. Disappointing. If we keep him, what happens if we win 20+ and make the Sweet 16? If Coleman takes the next step it isn't out of the question, and it certainly doesn't mean that Shaka learned how to coach
  8. Bru so fast the spacing isn't an issue.
  9. I thought the only lingering neck issues were those he gave to opposing players when he body slammed them.
  10. Dude, the class joints have table cloths for a reason! If I ain't receivin' I don't wanna see it when I'm hitting the can.
  11. I think/hope you are right. The optics are odd and at this point are worse than if he got the dreaded vote of confidence from CDC. I just don't see how Shaka can be kept on, short of a miracle run to the second weekend of the tournament.
  12. In that case, there isn't a landing soft enough to fire Shaka regardless. Everything I see is talking about him finding something that pays around $1M/year. Really, if CDC can't find an extra $1M/year, then he is more of a Mashugana than a Messiah.
  13. It would horribly disappointing if finding Shaka a soft landing were indeed Step 1. It would be the biggest misstep of CDC's tenure. If he can get one of his Top 5 signed then Shaka needs to be fired and the program needs to be allowed to move on. If Shaka can be found a soft landing elsewhere that reduces our financial exposure, then great, but to make it the first move is borderline malpractice.
  14. Did mom make it? Asking for a friend...
  15. Well then, hit the books or hit up one of your colleagues who does specialize in this. Your lack of ambition is astounding!
  16. So it looks like a school could offer a player a paid post-graduate internship along with access to grad school. I guess you could try to entice a graduating player who still has a year of eligibility with a well-paid internship to stay for one more year rather than go into the NFL draft. I am not sure any school could easily come up with a 6 figure internship, but I suppose this ruling makes it legal.
  17. So are you going to really shut this baby down on page 999? I bet it ends up being the day before Feaster puts his name in the portal.
  18. He wasn't physical? Wasn't the guy in the state record books for powerlifting?
  19. The inbred are a bit slower than the rest of us...
  20. I member when we played them in the Sugar Bowl. When asked 'What's a Hokie?' All I could come up with was, 'Is it your version of "Dueling Banjos"?' I would put them in the Deliverance aggy category.
  21. Does the school submit it or the player? I thought it was something done by the individual as they would provide the evidence from their previous school that should warrant a waiver.
  22. I am inclined to believe if CDC has his guy he will make the move regardless of the buyout or 'soft landing' for Shaka. I don't think CDC would leave it to chance that Shaka gets a solid season next year with a more experienced Coleman and has his hand forced to keep Shaka another year or more because we moved from bad to decent. Obviously a lot of moving pieces and if CDC's target makes a deep tourney run, it might turn a back room 'done deal' to Texas into staying on at the current school. I think Beard probably falls into that category. If the target is Musselman or a coach that we can easily money whip, tourney results might not matter as much.
