  1. Linebacker was the only position on the team without nfl talent.
  2. Comparisons to the 2005 team were covered ad nauseam on two other threads. In retrospect the concerns about PK early on were a bit ridiculous given that he inherited assistant coaches, had “all hat no cattle” players at key positions, and generally runs a scheme that takes a little time to implement. This team is good, but I’m not sure it can overcome playing really bad (penalties, turnovers, mistakes) against better teams. We will see.
  3. Good grief I come back to the thread and there are actually people bitching about how Texas played? They dominated. People suck.
  4. Stop playing walk on’s at safety. He was late on the long pass and then interfered.
  5. ESPN is out on U-verse. Aggies everywhere must be enraged.
  6. Why is espn out? They flipped over to espnu
  7. I’m discovering a huge percentage of the population doesn’t iron, and may not even own an iron. I’m terribly vexed by this. A lot of polyester clothing can stink after awhile. Clothing with cotton is good. Cotton may need ironing. What is the world doing? Ironing sucks.
  8. I agree 100% with your data points, so I’m not sure whether we are disagreeing or not. I’m saying inflation is not going to average 2% over the next 10 years, and that rates can stay more elevated than the current Fed dot plot. What are you saying?
  9. I’m really glad I created a Colorado vacation thread a few weeks ago so that I can find all the content on the 2024 recruiting thread.
  10. You can when you allow inflation to run hot at those interest rates for ten years, inflating away the debt down to a much more manageable debt to GDP ratio. Exact same thing the country did after world war 2. That’s the plan. It’s just that no government official will ever admit it. Instead, they will complain about inflation being too sticky for the next 8 years, and swear their goal is 2%. To really squash inflation, it would probably require Volker-Lite measures and throwing the economy into a ditch to break the current pay raise momentum in the labor sectors.
  11. This move was to provide a competitive candidate for when McConaughey runs for Governor down the line.
  12. I communicate with a veteran bond trader who’s been solely a bond investor for over 15 years. He has consistently said for two years now that the 10 year will end up somewhere between 5-6%. He’s been preaching short duration the whole way and so far has been absolutely right. Besides him, very few people forecasted the current bond situation correctly. Finally now, some of the respected bond experts are also starting to talk about either higher for longer or even higher forever.
  13. He’s doubling and tripling down on his dumb post by arguing that “little brother bitches” is solely defined by football records over the last 11 years. He doesn’t even understand the basic concept that there’s 50 different reasons they are little brother bitches, beyond a few football scores.
  14. You are just amazing about constantly saying idiotic things.
  15. Go look at the flight times between two cities for swa vs American, united delta. Maybe things have changed but at one point all of those airlines were 20-35 minutes longer flights.
  16. Wasn’t interest in Davis a little muted until another OT prospect decided (aside from Baker)? I forget who they were targeting. Or, did they like senior film? Or, did Aggie issues cause him to consider Texas again?
  17. I would strongly recommend someone carefully think about it before they decide to embark on a life of pursuing FIRE. I didn’t pursue it as a concept. I just fell into it after saving a lot of money over the years and making enough money to do it. For many people (MOST?), I don’t think they would be happy with either the accumulation phase or the FIRE phase. The problem is that I don’t think a person can figure it out themselves. Having gone through all of it, I think I finally have a good handle on all of the factors to consider. It’s more complex than one would think.
  18. I’ve been gone from this thread for a long time after developing some serious health issues. I’m still not back on the bike, but thought I’d pass along some news about a new mountain bike park under construction outside Austin. I met a young guy who it turns out is one of the top mountain bikers in Texas, and nationally. Avid bikers apparently all know him. Anyway, he’s building a premium mountain bike park outside Burnet that will supposedly blow away Spider Mountain. It is scheduled to open November
  19. I’m using the word “gimmick” probably too liberally. A better term would be a change that was a major element of the coach’s success. I don’t mean to minimize the importance of the change. Mack Brown brought the family atmosphere as his gimmick. Barry Switzer focused heavily on black athletes. Darryl Royal used the wishbone. They were good coaches, but once a gimmick has been copied you have to do something else to sustain success. Saban’s sustained success gimmick is his incredibly detailed process documentation for every position on the team. Matt’s defense did indeed change the league. Now everyone has adapted. What’s up next Matt?
  20. Ya what’s the deal with this Zeihan guy. I saw him on Tik Tok and he’s full of outrageous claims like he invented the question mark.
  21. That’s not entirely accurate. He did release a picture of the alien:
