  1. All of this. When Lowe died, Gary's seat got A LOT hotter. They care about winning and they expect to win and are not happy with current results. you should have him in the top 2. There is not a HC in the country that can hit home more when you don't have clear messaging from everyone dealing with that recruit. He can absolutely change the direction of a recruit's perception of your program and he does it with recruits leaning to Texas, OU, and aggy regularly. Is he getting those guys? No, but he's more than happy to be the spoiler and ruin your recruitment. It's not hard to see them each year and it's why you should always be aware of the amount of effort he puts into a Texas lean. As for his work ethic, he's working hard but he's in full panic mode because his seat is hot AF and his gamble to bring in shady fuckers via the portal was not lost on the 2021 class who decided not to go to TCU as their tertiary choice, heading instead to SMU, Arky, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona State. His problems come not from a work ethic issue but from the very place that @texifornia pointed out - they care about winning and are NOT happy with his results.
  2. Alabama had really increased their efforts on Phaizon before he committed to Texas so I doubt it.
  3. couldn't crack the depth chart for Napier. McNeese up next?
  4. this guy has skinned enough human beings to have his techniques down cold. He can do it and make skinsuits where the seams are nearly unidentifiable.
  5. No idea. I thought he was a good hire and good fit. I’m not really sure what’s happening but 13 players is half a class and that’s a lot of starters.
  6. They are having a contest with VaTech to see which team can be the first to openly revolt and they are both winning.
  7. James and Sylla in back to back classes is impressive. Hell of a Kickstarter for sure.

  9. Nah. Mostly just saying that I understand the underpinning of Gerry's angst. My least favorite take in any recruiting thread is TrUsT tHe CoRcHEs -- I fucking HATE that shit but with Murphy you just have to. Sarkisian is a known commodity as a QB evaluator and teacher, Murphy is as unknown a product as you can be as a 5* that has been on the radar since 8th grade. I simply don't have enough info to eval him at all and so it comes down to trusting Sarkisian. I haven't seen enough to say he's an easy take. I haven't seen enough to know that he has the competitive sickness. It's all trust at this point. He's a huge guy with a huge arm and can do a standing backflip. He's well liked by other recruits. That's the end of my knowledge. He's a moldable piece of clay with very limited experience. I think that both sides of the Klubnik discussion have become way overblown and I'll go ahead and blame Ketch because I fucking hate that fat tub of shitgravy and blaming him just feels good. Klubnik doesn't seem polarizing enough as a talent to illicit either the love or hate response he's gotten here. I am biased against the Westlake/LT/SLC/Allen type kids from the drop but I recognize that Klubnik could come here and win a lot of football games. I don't think he's a can't miss guy and I don't think he'd butt fumble every play. I like him a hell of a lot more than Weigman. Neither of these guys is Quinn Ewers. the honest truth is that I think Murphy generates more buzz and creates some much needed momentum. If he's capable of bringing along Williams and Hyphen it's an easy take. Anything beyond that is fantastic. Right now Texas is struggling to get momentum mostly from unforced errors and partially from a job well done by opposing coaches. Either way the new coach bump has been almost non-existent. So Murphy bringing in a couple of really highly rated guys and generating buzz and much needed interest is a big factor. Quick side note, people keep asking about a QB2 for this class but I think we already did. We signed QB2 for 2022 as a PWO in Cole Lourd. He's absolutely capable and a perfect QB2 candidate. https://247sports.com/Player/Cole-Lourd-46077126/
  10. It would also be a badass message to send, not only is he a Mater Dei kid (fuck you USC) but he's also a Bama legacy (his dad was a BB player at Bama). Anytime we can take a shit on either of those schools we should. Going 2-for-1 and getting a good football player out of the deal is $.
  11. The worst-case scenario is taking an OOS QB that has barely thrown a single games worth of passes in his high school career to this point, and he's not done it very well. It's a very high floor endeavor. The low-floor endeavor is take one of the scores of in-state QBs that has already thrown for thousands of yards and has an excellent completion % and TD/INT ratio.
  12. It's hard not to feel this way. QB and WR are two spots that are absolutely stocked in this state every year (NCAA and NFL production prove it out) and specifically in 2022. going OOS for OLB or DT? Sure. I get that. QB and WR, esp in 2022, is a tougher hill to climb.
  13. Texas has been at the leading edge of the entire NIL movement with LEVERAGE and the associated programs, well in front of almost everyone including Alabama. This (LJJ and the current talk) is simply the outcome of an unforced error on Texas' part. When you are fighting with one hand tied behind your back for weeks at a time you are going to take damage. The lack of movement in front officer personnel has fallout, and this is it. Texas NIL impact FAAARRRRRRR outpaces anything that aggy can put together in Lit Station (even with ESS EEE CEE). The fact that they haven't articulated that properly falls squarely on the coaching staff, exacerbated by the lack of front office personnel.
  14. LSU pulling in a top 3 class during this inferno level dumpster fire is both hilarious and infuriating.
  15. Culture and camaraderie. I know there are examples of one-and-dones adding to the culture and guys who have come up in a system quitting but I think the optimum example is Clemson. They simply don't have the numbers of guys coming and going (ie. the portal) so while there may not be a notable impact to your team on the field during those 2-3 years there is buy-in level and a tighter friendship bond with other players, assuming you have this championship culture in place. It's probably a thing of the past in the portal age as you'll see more and more rentals like Sermon.
  16. Bill O’Brien is a certified moron but under Saban’s coaches rehabilitation program he will appear capable. Not great, but capable - which is enormous leap for that idiot. As for Flood, Saban lost him and turned around and upgraded by hiring Doug Marrone. He might be a failed HC but he’s likely the best OL coach in all of football. Fuck the Brocks sideways but they will get to watch their teammates win a lot of football games.
