Texas A&M Football 2025 - On the Edge of Glory(holes)
AP101S replied to closetojumping's topic in Football
Thanks to the 2020-Covid year, ND has won more conference championships than A&M this century. -
The roster spreadsheet I track has a Texas Grid tab (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TzoBTIvCXfZIk7Sz3C9txMg0yPvrXyVM/edit?gid=537784767#gid=537784767) with 247 composite ratings using the transfer rating instead of high school. There's also a team summary at the bottom that excludes special teams (K/P/LS) and former walk-ons (Taafe, Landwehr) from the average rating and blue chip ratio columns. For comparison, here's Texas A&M (Aggie Grid tab):

3 days until football. Here's a clip of Texas Tech blocking a field goal, recovering it, then fumbling it, which gave Kansas a second chance at the game winning field goal. An instant classic. Classic Tech.mp4

Who from the Texas roster do you think could crack the A&M 2-deep?

I've updated the depth chart spreadsheet with the 2025 Spring roster. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TzoBTIvCXfZIk7Sz3C9txMg0yPvrXyVM/edit?gid=1658728281#gid=1658728281 We can all rejoice that Max Merril is no longer on the roster (@closetojumping) The roster is at 81, so plenty of room for more transfers.

On what subject should you be considered Surly's resident expert?
AP101S replied to TexasHooch's topic in Daily Texan
The operating system was assembly language, which is what I did. The rest of the flight computer code was HAL/S. There was other hardware that had their own language, but that stuff rarely changed after it was initially designed. I didn't join the project until '84, so all the big challenges of coming up with the original design was already done. -

Here's the link to the 2025 tab of the depth chart: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TzoBTIvCXfZIk7Sz3C9txMg0yPvrXyVM/edit?gid=1658728281#gid=1658728281 Here's an explanation of the tabs: 2025 - Depth chart based on remaining eligibility. Players in italics are expected attrition (portal or NFL). As players enter the portal or declare for the draft, then they will be deleted. 2024 - I'll continue to update this through the end of the season. Players entering the portal will remain in this sheet so we can see how the depth was affected. Portal entries are color coded per the legend at the top of the sheet. Texas by Class - Shows the player data of each signing class since 2017. The source is 247 composite. I track current status such as Roster, Transfer, NFL, Graduated (a career other than sports), Medical retirement, etc. Texas Grid - Shows players by their signing class rather than by remaining eligibility. Also has their 247 composite rating so that the average rating for the offense, defense, and team can be calculated. Also shows the blue chip ratio. Aggie by Class - Same as Texas by Class, but for A&M. Aggie Grid - Similar to Texas Grid, but for A&M. The difference is that the portal entries remain on this sheet through the Spring so that we can see how many players left. 2023 - 2011 - End of season depth charts for past Texas teams.

I added a 2025 tab to the depth chart spreadsheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TzoBTIvCXfZIk7Sz3C9txMg0yPvrXyVM/edit?gid=1658728281#gid=1658728281 Those that are projected by Surly to declare for the NFL or portal are italicized, although when there's not a consensus, I'll assume they're returning. I also updated the Texas Grid and Aggie Grid tabs which shows athletes by signing class rather than by remaining eligibility, along with their 247 composite rating (transfers get their transfer rating, no their HS rating). The Blue Chip Ratio is at the bottom of those tabs. Names are removed once they state they are entering the portal or declaring for the draft (i.e., no speculation for these tabs).

I included the 2 transfers (Max Johnson, Micaiah Overton) who are both gone.

@closetojumping already answered this (50%), but here are some details. This link (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TzoBTIvCXfZIk7Sz3C9txMg0yPvrXyVM/edit?gid=1682239859#gid=1682239859) has an Aggie by Class tab which lists every signee since 2017 and where they ended their careers. There's also a Texas by Class tab. 16 of 32 signees from 2022 are no longer on the A&M roster.
