  1. I think he's picked up English a bit quicker than his brother did.
  2. I think there is a third way between going full SEC and a school that sits around and smells its own farts and tells itself it's too good to win. And, dare I say it, I think it's OSU that's found that third way. Their philosophy seems to be OK, we won't ask you about your business, but if your business lands in our laps, we will not go full SEC and cover for you. We'll throw you under the bus, turn you into the ncaa (Tressel) or put you through a public humiliation and suspension (Meyer) and then show you the door in disgrace and move on to the next guy. And I'm fine with that. Tell Urban to do what he needs to do to bring Texas back, but if he crosses certain lines and disgraces the university, UT will not go all Auburn and circle the wagons to protect him. We'll throw him under the bus and move on to the next guy.
  3. Put it this way, one of the keys that's given hope that Herman is going to be shown the door and not be given a COVID mulligan is his refusal to get on board with the administration team line on The Eyes. Now, people think that this same administration team is going to go all-in on a successor whose contract's first clause might as well read "Don't Ask Me About My Business." Whether UT football needs this type of guy and whether UT's administration is willing hire this type of guy are two fundamentally different questions. And after being publicly humiliated, suspended and having his golfing buddies on the OSU board side with the President over him, I think that's exactly what Urban is going to demand going into UT or USC or anywhere else. Otherwise, just sit back and soak up his easy FOX money and let his heart and brain heal.
  4. It's absolutely a serious question as to whether our current administration is going to hire a football coach who's attitude from day one will be, "you're not my boss, stay out of my fucking business." Urban's exit at OSU, I think, makes it pretty clear that's going to be his expectation for taking any job. It's why Trojan Fan seems to believe that their administration will never hire him. I'm just wondering whether Texas' will. I'm not making any statement on whether I think they should (I do). But this is the view that CDC and Hartzell are going to get on day one.
  5. I never commented as to whether it is or isn't what UT needs. Actually, I believe that Texas needs somebody who'll tell everyone from the faculty to the big cigars to go fuck themselves and stay out of my business. My point is that will CDC, Hartzell and Board be willing to take on that coach when there's a concrete expectation from him that he's not to be questioned and his program is a power unto itself within the university? That's a big jump for any university administration much less one that seems to thinks it's running Berkeley not Texas.
  6. The biggest issue that the admin is going to have with Urban is that he made it clear in his power struggle with the OSU Prez and subsequent taking his ball and going home is that he believes that he and his program answer to no one, and if the university doesn't like that arrangement, he'll say his heart or his brain or his liver is broke and go home. There wasn't the Florida type off field shit going down at OSU, there were no ncaa scandals and covering for the wife beater seems to have been a one-off based on who the wife beater's grandfather was. There's not a lot to concern CDC and Hartzell from his OSU stint other than the fact that Urban believes that he doesn't answer to them, won't be held accountable by them and will pack it up and leave if they don't like it.
  7. So, we've literally reached the point that if the coach doesn't force his black players to stand and sing a song that offends them (some of them), then said coach should be fired? There's a whole lot of shit that Herman should be fired for, but that ain't it. And don't think for one moment that won't be used negatively against us in recruiting, and while that's something that UT could get through were it playing for championships and running a pipeline to the first round of the NFL draft, that ain't been UT for a decade. OTOH, if we don't make them stand and sing a song that offends them we piss off a huge chunk of the alumni and big dick donors. Just fuck 2020 all to hell already and start over.
  8. Nobody's mentioned Long Island Watches yet. It sells a lot of low to mid priced watches, up to the level of brands like Laco or Squale. I bought one of his in-house watches early in the year, and have been pretty impressed with it. It's based off the basic architecture of the discontinued Seiko SKX watches, but with all the upgrades that Seiko never made: upgraded Seiko movement that hand winds and hacks (I'm running about 5 seconds slow/day), sapphire crystal, lumed ceramic bezel, quality solid link bracelet (I have a NATO on it at the moment) with screwed links. He has a pretty huge variety in 43 or 38mm. Price (299) is cheap enough, that it makes a good beater for those with luxury watches, but the quality is good enough to be an only watch for someone who wants a solid dive style watch at a low price.
  9. So, here's my question about Meyer and "cheating." Correct me if I'm wrong. Meyer ran an off-field shitshow at UF not seen since the glory days of Wilkinson Hall, and he was so naive and/or self-serving that he thought he could reign in a psychopath like Hernandez by having him over for dinner to pray with his family. BUT, he seemed to have learned his lesson, and I don't remember much off-field shit going down at OSU and him taking a zero-tolerance approach to the one big issue that I do remember reading about. OTOH, he loaded up the coaching staff with his cronies there and covered up for a human shitstain of a coach because of who the shitstain's grandpa was. He lost a power struggle with the Prez, and then claimed his brain was b-b-b-broke and took his ball and ran home. Does he learn that lesson also when starting over at UT? As for actual SEC-aggy-OU cheating, there's no history of it. He's coached at four programs in four conferences and--to my knowledge--hasn't had one ncaa investigation much less any findings of wrongdoing. Now, I don't think he's pristine any more than I think any major football program--UT included--is pristine. I just see no track record of him being in the mold of Tarkanian or Switzer when it comes to ncaa rules.
  10. Might need to show him how serious we are first.
  11. I mainly browse here. Registered to stop the ads. But fuck this shit. Blow it all up. Take the responsible parties and their entire families down into a basement and Romonov their entire bloodlines. And then call Meyer.
